The spacecraft landed smoothly on a barren red Gobi desert.
The hatch slowly opened, and Ye Ling and Duan Yu walked out. A heat wave mixed with fine sand blew in their faces, and a strange metallic smell filled the air.
"Oh my god, what a hell of a place is this? Is the air purifier useless?" Ye Ling raised her hand to block the wind and sand and complained.
As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Ling's mecha control panel suddenly flashed and issued a shrill alarm.
"Zizizizi—Warning! Warning! Magnetic field interference, navigation system failure!"
Ye Ling looked at the flashing dashboard with a frown on her face.
This is not a good sign.
The planet's magnetic field was so strong that it could even interfere with her mecha system, which made her feel a little uneasy.
But she soon calmed down.
When the enemy comes, we will fight him; when the water comes, we will block it with earth. It’s just magnetic field interference. Who is afraid of whom?
"Duan Yu, how is your mecha?" Ye Ling turned to look at Duan Yu.
Duan Yu's face didn't look good, with beads of sweat oozing from his forehead.
"My navigation system has also been interfered with, and..." He paused, seeming a little embarrassed to speak.
"And what?" Ye Ling asked.
Duan Yu pointed at his left leg, his face pale.
"When I landed, I was accidentally scratched by a rock."
Only then did Ye Ling notice that there was a long cut on Duan Yu's left trouser leg, and blood was constantly oozing out, staining the surrounding sand red.
"Oh my god, such bad luck!" Ye Ling hurried forward to check Duan Yu's injuries. "Is the injury serious? Can he still walk?"
Duan Yu gritted his teeth and tried to move his left leg, but the piercing pain made him groan.
"It's a bit deep, and walking might be a bit difficult."
Ye Ling was extremely anxious. The air around her seemed to have solidified, making it hard for her to breathe.
This desolate planet, the malfunctioning navigation, and the injured companions, all of these made her feel extremely stressed.
"Don't move yet, let me help you treat your wound." Ye Ling took out the first aid kit from her backpack and skillfully bandaged Duan Yu's wound.
After the bandage was completed, Ye Ling supported Duan Yu and looked up at the vast red Gobi Desert. "It seems that we need to find a way to restore the mecha's navigation system first."
She reached out and gently stroked the metal shell of the mecha, and various mecha structure diagrams and circuit diagrams flashed quickly in her mind.
A bold idea gradually took shape in her mind...
"Perhaps, I can..."
Ye Ling squatted down, her slender fingers operating quickly on the mecha control panel, muttering to herself: "Restart the core program, block the interference signal, activate the backup navigation module... Done!" After a burst of crackling operations, the alarm on the mecha control panel finally stopped, replaced by a light prompt tone.
"Huh~ I'm finally alive!" Ye Ling breathed a sigh of relief, a relieved smile on her face, like a rose blooming in the darkness.
After repairing the navigation system, Ye Ling supported Duan Yu and slowly moved forward towards the suspected trial field based on the remaining star map information.
In the Gobi Desert, the scorching sun burned the earth, the air was distorted, and heat waves were rolling.
Ye Ling felt like she was in a huge oven. Sweat soaked her clothes and her lips were cracked.
"Duan Yu, can you still hold on?" Ye Ling asked with concern.
Duan Yu's face was pale, his lips bloodless, but he still forced a smile: "It's okay, I won't die. It's just that this damn place is hotter than my hometown."
After walking for about half a day, a strange group of rocks appeared in front of us.
These rocks are towering into the clouds and have strange shapes, like huge monsters, standing quietly in the Gobi Desert.
Just then, a noisy sound of footsteps came from far away.
Ye Ling and Duan Yu immediately became alert and looked in the direction of the sound. They saw a group of tribal warriors wearing animal skins and holding spears running towards them.
The leading warrior, a burly man with a stern face, shouted loudly: "Stop! Who are you? How dare you trespass into our territory!" This man was Warwick, the most powerful warrior in the tribe.
The spear in his hand flashed with a cold light, and his eyes were as sharp as an eagle, staring at Ye Ling and Duan Yu closely.
Ye Ling met Warwick's gaze without fear: "We are here to find the mecha inheritance."
Warwick sneered: "Mecha inheritance? With just you? That's wishful thinking! This is not the place for you, leave quickly, otherwise..." Warwick didn't finish his words, but the threat was self-evident.
Ye Ling was about to open her mouth to refute, but she saw Duan Yu enduring the pain and protecting her behind him.
Duan Yuqiang endured the pain and protected Ye Ling behind him, like a mountain, blocking the hostility from the tribal warriors for her.
Ye Ling looked at Duan Yu's broad back, and a warm feeling surged in her heart, warm like hot cocoa in winter.
However, at the same time, I was a little worried about his injury, after all, there was a bruise on his leg!
She gently pulled the corner of Duan Yu's clothes. This small action was full of ambiguity, like a small stone, causing ripples on the calm lake.
Ye Ling did not force a breakthrough as the tribe expected, or act out the "my destiny is in my own hands" drama. Instead, she explained her purpose to Warwick in a common language that they could understand and that had a slightly ancient flavor.
"Warrior, please wait! We have no ill intentions. We simply wish to discover the legendary mecha inheritance." She paused, her tone sincere. "I know this sounds unbelievable, but we truly did not lie to you."
