Ye Ling stared at the symbol that was flashing with a faint blue light, and lightly touched it with her fingertips. A cool electric current instantly spread throughout her body.
"Hiss—what the hell is that? Is it electrified?" She suddenly retracted her hand, looking suspicious.
The symbol had a strange shape, like some ancient writing, or a complicated star map, giving her a sense of déjà vu.
"I have to look for some information." Ye Ling muttered, activated the database inside the mecha, and began to search for similar symbols.
The mecha data room was dimly lit, and the air was filled with the smell of oil and metal.
Ye Ling turned up the light and looked around. The towering bookshelves were filled with all kinds of books and materials, ranging from mecha design drawings to maps of the universe and galaxies.
This scene is definitely an information graveyard!
"To decode the mysteries of the universe, start by rummaging through the garbage!" Ye Ling encouraged herself and plunged into the vast ocean of information.
Time passed minute by minute, and the only sounds in the library were the rustling of Ye Ling flipping through books and the occasional muttering: "It's not this... it's not this... what the hell is going on..."
Books piled up around her, as high as a hill.
Ye Ling rubbed her sore eyes and felt like her brain was about to explode.
This symbol is like a stubborn virus, and its source cannot be found.
"Am I overthinking it? It's just a broken symbol. Maybe some programmer just scribbled it out of boredom..." Ye Ling began to doubt herself and scratched her hair in annoyance.
However, deep down, a strong curiosity and thirst for knowledge drove her to continue looking for answers.
This symbol must be hiding some secret, a secret that is closely related to her and even the whole world.
Ye Ling took a deep breath and picked up the thick galaxy atlas again, scanning the densely packed stars and text.
Suddenly, her pupils shrank sharply and her finger stopped at an inconspicuous corner of the map.
"This...this..." Ye Ling muttered to himself, his face becoming extremely solemn.
"No way..." She suddenly raised her head and looked at the flashing symbol on the mecha console, her voice trembling, "Could this be..."
Ye Ling slumped dejectedly in the chair, feeling like a poor creature rummaging through a dump of information garbage for food.
Just when she was about to give up and prepare to regard this damn symbol as a programmer's doodle, a picture suddenly flashed through her mind - the golden rune that appeared on Duan Yu's forehead during the soul contract ceremony!
"Wait!" Ye Ling sat up straight, her heartbeat suddenly accelerating.
"That rune... and this symbol... seem..."
She quickly called up the recorded footage of the ceremony and magnified the two symbols for comparison.
Although the colors are different, one is shining gold and the other is mysterious blue, the shapes and patterns are surprisingly similar!
"Oh my god! It can't be such a coincidence!" Ye Ling rubbed her hands excitedly, feeling like she had unearthed a treasure.
"Soul Contract...Alien Symbol...Duan Yu..."
These three seemingly unrelated elements are now like scattered puzzle pieces, vaguely piecing together a shocking truth.
Ye Ling's breathing quickened, and she felt that she was only one step away from solving the mystery!
The depressing atmosphere around her seemed to be torn open by this sudden hope, and the fresh air rushed in, making her feel refreshed.
"Duan Yu... who are you?" Ye Ling murmured in a low voice, with a complex light flashing in her eyes.
She desperately wanted to know the answer, wanted to know the secret hidden in Duan Yu, and what the connection was between this secret and alien civilization.
At the same time, in the Duan family's forbidden area, Duan Yu sat in the corner with a pale face, his body trembling slightly.
The long-term house arrest and mental stress had taken their toll on his originally strong body.
The dull pain in his chest made it almost impossible for him to breathe.
"Ye Ling..." Duan Yu called Ye Ling's name weakly. He knew that Ye Ling was running around for him, to decipher the mysterious symbol, but he was trapped here and could do nothing.
This feeling of powerlessness was like a sharp thorn, piercing deep into his heart.
Ye Ling, who was far away in the mecha information room, also vaguely felt Duan Yu's pain.
An inexplicable irritability and uneasiness surged in her heart, making her even more anxious.
"Damn it! I must solve this puzzle quickly!" Ye Ling slammed the table hard with a determined look in his eyes.
"I must save you, Duan Yu!"
Just then, the door of the data room suddenly opened, and Trundle walked in with an excited look on his face.
"Ye Ling, you will never guess what I discovered!"
Trundle rushed in, waving a piece of metal fragment in his hand, as excited as if he had discovered a new continent.
"Ye Ling! You'll never believe it! I found a piece of prehistoric mecha wreckage! This is a great treasure!"
Ye Ling didn't even raise her head and said perfunctorily: "Oh, congratulations." Her mind was full of the mysterious symbol and Duan Yu, so she had no time to care about the prehistoric mecha.
"No, listen to me, there are similar symbols on this piece of wreckage!" Trundle handed the metal fragment to Ye Ling and pointed to a blurry pattern on it.
Ye Ling suddenly raised her head and grabbed the metal fragments.
A closer look revealed that although the pattern was severely corroded, one could still vaguely make out its similarities to the symbol on the mecha's console.
"This...how is this possible?" she muttered to herself, her heart in turmoil.
At this moment, a shrill alarm suddenly sounded, the lights inside the mecha flickered, and the red warning light spun wildly.
