Chapter 69: Exploring the Ancient Monuments and Breaking the Enemy's Barriers with Wisdom

The roar was getting closer and closer, shaking the ground slightly.

A magnificent ancient relic appeared before everyone's eyes. Strange runes were carved on the mottled stone pillars, as if telling ancient secrets.

But at this moment, everyone's attention was attracted by the huge figure at the entrance of the ruins - the guardian beast Tana.

Tana resembles a giant lion, her entire body covered with bronze scales that gleam with metallic luster.

Its eyes were like burning torches, emitting a terrifying light, and its huge fangs gleamed with cold light, making people shudder.

"Roar--" The deafening roar sounded again, and Tana warned everyone not to get close.

"Oh my god, this thing is too scary!" Roger's voice changed. He grabbed Anne's arm tightly and wanted to hide behind her.

Annie wasn't in much better condition, her face was pale, she was clutching the medical bag tightly, her palms were sweaty.

"Hehe, no big deal, watch me!" Baru rubbed his hands, walked towards Tana with a flattering look on his face, and took out a handful of sparkling gems.

"My beautiful guardian beast, this is just a small token of my respect. Please accept it!"

Tana glanced at the gem in Baloo's hand with disdain, and a puff of hot air snorted from her nostrils.

"Roar!" This roar was louder than the previous one, as if mocking Baru's stupidity.

It swung its huge claws violently, and Baloo flew out like a kite with a broken string. He fell heavily to the ground and couldn't get up for a long time.

"Oh my god, this is too disrespectful!" Rogge was stunned. He originally wanted to try to imitate Baru, but now he completely gave up the idea.

He swallowed and shouted bravely: "Isn't it just a watchdog? What's so great about it! Look at me..." Before he finished speaking, Rogge rushed forward, waving the weapon in his hand, trying to break through by force.

However, Tana just waved her claws lightly, and Rogge flew backwards like a cannonball, fell heavily to the ground, and spit out blood.

"Rogge!" Annie exclaimed and ran over to help.

"You don't know your own limitations." Duan Yu spat out these four words coldly, but his eyes were fixed on Tana, ready to strike at any time.

Ye Ling didn't say anything, just watched it all quietly.

Her eyes swept back and forth over Tana, then looked at the surrounding environment, the corners of her mouth slightly raised, revealing a barely perceptible smile.

"Looks like things are getting interesting..." she whispered, a hint of excitement in her tone.

Ye Ling's eyes were like a scanner, quickly scanning the environment around Tana, especially the location where its giant claws landed each time.

"Interesting..." Ye Ling touched his chin and muttered to himself.

"What did you find out?" Duan Yu's voice sounded in her ears, with a hint of imperceptible concern.

He seemed indifferent, but in fact he was always paying attention to Ye Ling and was ready to protect her at any time.

Ye Ling smiled slightly, with confidence glittering in her eyes.

"This thing looks ferocious, but its attacks are actually very regular, and... it seems to be guarding something." She pointed to some symbols on the ground that were almost buried by sand. These symbols were dim and could easily be overlooked if one did not observe carefully.

"What are those?" Dr. Xu pushed his glasses up and tried to make out the symbols.

"An ancient contract mark." Ye Ling said firmly, "I've seen similar records in Dr. Xu's files before. The natives of the lost planet like to use this method to sign contracts with powerful creatures."

Baru rubbed his sore butt with a look of disdain on his face.

"A contract? With this beast? Don't be ridiculous! If it could understand human language, even a sow could climb a tree!"

"Shut up!" Duan Yu glanced at Baru coldly, and the latter immediately fell silent.

Ye Ling ignored Baru's joke and continued, "Tana guarding these marks means it's still bound by the contract. As long as we can figure out the content of the contract, perhaps we can find a way to communicate with it."

"But these marks are incomplete. How do we interpret them?" Dr. Xu looked troubled.

A sly smile appeared on Ye Ling's lips. "It all depends on our luck." She took out a palm-sized piece of metal from her backpack. It was the core fragment of the ancient mecha.

The metal pieces emitted a faint shimmer, as if resonating with the ancient markings around them.

"This thing...could it be..." A hint of surprise flashed in Duan Yu's eyes.

"That's right!" Ye Ling placed the metal sheet close to the mark on the ground. The light on the metal sheet suddenly intensified, illuminating the surrounding marks. Those incomplete symbols actually began to slowly and automatically complete!

"Oh my god! What kind of black technology is this!" Rogge covered his chest, feeling that he was more frightened today than in the past year.

"The reputation of spiritual wisdom in breaking through the enemy's barriers is well-deserved." A hint of admiration flashed in Duan Yu's eyes.

As the contract became increasingly clear, Ye Ling took a deep breath and said slowly, "Are you ready? Let's have a good talk with this guardian beast master." She reached out and gently stroked the metal piece. A strange energy wave slowly spread...

"Wait a minute," Ye Ling suddenly withdrew her hand and stared at Tana, "I think I have a more interesting idea..."

Ye Ling did not directly interpret the contents of the contract, but put the metal piece away and smiled at Tana.

"Respected guardian beast, I know what you are guarding. Instead of deciphering these boring words, how about we play a game?"

Tana let out a low growl, as if doubting Ye Ling's intentions.
