Li Mo

Li Mo

After the rally ended, the newly installed white graffiti wall on one side of the playground instantly became the liveliest spot.

The school gave each graduate a marker so they could leave their final wishes or vows.

The students swarmed forward, and soon the pure white wall was filled with words and patterns of various colors.

Li Mo took a pen and carefully found a small blank space at the top center of the wall, where she neatly wrote: "Admitted to Beichuan University".

Her handwriting was neat and tidy, reflecting her usual calm and determination. It was the university she had long admired.

She had just finished writing when she felt someone lean in beside her.

Holding a black marker, Liang Xinchong almost without thinking wrote another line next to her sentence: "Forever with Li Mo."

His handwriting was bold and unrestrained, carrying the unique exuberance and undisguised frankness of a young person.

"Liang Xinchong." Li Mo's face instantly turned red. She reached out to cover his words, but he stopped her with a smile.

"What? It's my wish, it's not illegal." He said matter-of-factly, his smile brighter than the sun. The classmates around him immediately cheered him on.

This bold declaration seemed to ignite the atmosphere, and more students began leaving all sorts of messages:

"Take over the Physics Department at Z University!"

"Beihang University, wait for me!" A small airplane was drawn next to it.

May you reach the shore and have a bright future.

Zhang Shan drew a crooked basketball and wrote: "Brothers, we'll never part on the court!"

"Class 3-2, may our friendship last forever!" followed by more than a dozen signatures.

"Let's be best friends with xxx for life!" followed by a small heart.

"Please, please, let me pass math this time!" (followed by a kneeling little figure)

"I hope the food in the university cafeteria is better than what's served at school!"

"Get rich quick! Find a partner! Don't go bald!" (This truly expresses the sentiments of many people.)

"Goodbye, 53!" Next to it was a drawing of a workbook being thrown away.

Youth never ends, and we will never part.

May we all have a bright future.

Before the exhilarating atmosphere of the 100-day countdown rally had completely dissipated, Liang Xinchong's expensive new camera became the new "star" in the class.

As soon as the conference ended, he was surrounded by several curious boys.

"Brother Chong, that's impressive, your equipment has been upgraded." Zhang Shan was the first to come over, taking the camera from Liang Xinchong without any hesitation, and clumsily but excitedly fiddling with it.

"Wow, the resolution is really high, let me try it!"

"Take a picture of me, see if I'm handsome!"

The boys were making a lot of noise, and the camera was being passed around among them.

Liang Xinchong looked at his "battered" new favorite and felt a little sorry for it, but seeing everyone's excited look, he just smiled and shook his head, letting them be.

Zhang Shan seemed particularly interested in the video recording function. He raised his camera and pretended to be a temporary reporter, scanning familiar faces with the lens.

"Come on, come on, special interview for the 100-day countdown to the college entrance exam! Tell me, do you have any regrets from your three years of high school?" Zhang Shan said in a rough voice, imitating the tone of a news anchor.

The camera first focused on a boy who was playfully fighting with his deskmate. Liu Qinghui, a top student, looked speechless: "What kind of interview is this? Shouldn't you be asking—'What university do you want to go to?' or something like that?"

Zhang Shan said, "Your idea is so outdated! I think my interview topic is excellent, after all, whose youth isn't filled with regrets!"

Liu Qinghui thought about it carefully and said, "It's probably because I've never been first in the grade!"

Zhang Shan said, "You can't even beat Qi Anxin in the exam."

Naturally, Liu Qinghui gave him a feint kick.

Zhang Shan continued interviewing the next person. The boy scratched his head at the camera and chuckled, "What a pity... I guess I didn't dare to confess to the girl in the next class when I was in the first year of high school!" Immediately, a chorus of boos and laughter erupted around him.

The camera panned to a quiet girl who thought for a moment and said softly, "It's a bit of a regret that I've never participated in a debate competition. I'd really like to try what it's like to speak eloquently on stage." The girl next to her immediately hugged her: "It's not too late now, go to university!"

Next up was a basketball prodigy. He made a shooting motion for the camera and said cheerfully, "The only regret is that we missed that shot in last year's league finals, otherwise we would have been champions!" "Tch—all you ever do is play basketball!"

The atmosphere became lively, and Zhang Shan's "interviews" became increasingly bold.

He squeezed in front of Li Mo and shoved the camera at her: "Li, you're such a top student, what about you? You must have some regrets after three years of high school, right?"

Li Mo was watching everyone laughing and joking when she was suddenly caught on camera and was slightly startled.

She thought about it seriously for a few seconds before smiling with a hint of helplessness: "Well... I've never gotten first place in English, I'm always just a little short."

Zhang Shan let out an exaggerated "Aww!" that made the camera shake: "Listen to this, is that even human language? I forgot that you've won the top spot in every subject except English, and you're also number one overall! You're not human, Li Mo! How are we supposed to live with this regret?" The surrounding classmates also laughed and "condemned" her. Li Mo was embarrassed by what they said and lowered her head and smiled.

Zhang Shan, in a playful mood, quickly panned the camera to Liang Xinchong, who was leaning against the railing, laughing and watching the commotion. "Brother Chong, it's your turn! Shout out your regret!"

When Liang Xinchong was called upon, he didn't hesitate. He straightened up and, under everyone's gaze, very naturally reached out and put his arm around Li Mo's shoulder, gently pulling her closer to him.

Li Mo's body stiffened slightly, and her cheeks flushed instantly, but she did not dodge.

Liang Xinchong smiled wildly at Zhang Shan's camera, his white teeth gleaming in the sunlight, his youthful energy and confidence almost bursting out of the frame.

"Me?" His voice was clear and bright, with a hint of self-righteous pride. "I have no regrets about my youth."

Wow—!

"Alas--!"

"That's going too far, Liang Xinchong!"

I won't eat this dog food!

The boys immediately erupted in cheers, their voices filled with envious, jealous, and hateful shouts and whistles.

Zhang Shan even exaggeratedly clutched his heart, mimicking the posture of someone who had been shot by an arrow and collapsed to the ground.

Li Mo felt her face was hot enough to fry an egg. She quietly nudged Liang Xinchong's waist with her elbow, but he hugged her even tighter, his laughter vibrating in her ear.

The lively "interview" finally came to an end, and Zhang Shan returned the camera to Liang Xinchong with satisfaction.

Lin Shusen, who had been watching the show from the sidelines, strolled over leisurely with a playful smile on his lips. He teased Zhang Shan, "Shanzi, you've been recording the whole class so diligently, could it be... that you're saving it as a souvenir for some girl you like?"

Zhang Shan's smile froze, and his ears turned red at a visible speed. He glared at Lin Shusen and retorted with a stiff neck, "What nonsense are you talking about! I'm just... recording my youth! What about you? Stop pretending to be detached from worldly desires. Don't you have anyone you like? I don't believe it."

Lin Shusen, caught off guard, was not annoyed. He simply smiled meaningfully, his gaze seemingly sweeping in a certain direction, without saying a word.

That smile held a secret of youth that only he himself understood.

Liang Xinchong looked down at the lively scene he had just recorded on his camera, especially the part where he hugged Li Mo and said "no regrets." He couldn't help but smile.

Yes, this camera was a really good buy.

After the pep rally ended, the studies became even more intense, and time passed by little by little, soon it was early April.

The second mock exam has ended.

Li Mo's grades dropped from fifth in the grade to sixth.

Qiao Anxin scored 5.5 points higher than her and ranked fifth in the grade.

Li Mo remained silent for a long time when she saw the report card.

Not only Li Mo, but even Liang Xinchong's grades have declined.

Li Mo knew that her relationship with Liang Xinchong might be distracting her.

The morning reading sessions for senior high school students are filled with the sound of students reciting their lessons, yet there is also a sense of oppressive urgency.

Li Mo, unusually, did not open her textbook. She lay pale on the table, her forehead covered in cold sweat, and a familiar, unbearable pain came from her lower abdomen.

Liang Xinchong was sitting next to her and almost immediately noticed that something was wrong with her.

He looked at her furrowed brows and bloodless lips, his heart tightened, and without thinking, he hurriedly told the class monitor, "Li Mo is not feeling well, please ask for leave from morning reading," and then got up and quickly left the classroom through the back door.

He went straight to the school clinic.

The school clinic had just opened at that time. He briefly explained the situation, bought the most effective mugwort heat packs and a bottle of hot water, and hurriedly rushed back with the bag.

Thinking of Li Mo, he walked quickly and almost bumped into someone at the back door of the classroom.

He abruptly stopped, looked up, and his heart skipped a beat—the homeroom teacher, Yuan Hai, was standing at the door with his hands behind his back and a serious expression, clearly there to inspect the morning reading session.

Yuan Hai's gaze first fell on his face, then slowly moved down to the conspicuous plastic bag with the school clinic logo in his hand, and the bottle of boiling water.

“Liang Xinchong,” Yuan Hai’s voice was not loud, but it carried an undeniable authority, “Where were you during morning reading time?”

The corridor was quiet, with only the faint sound of students reading coming from the classroom. Liang Xinchong tightened his grip on the bag, his heart pounding like a drum.

He knew lying would be pointless and would only make him more suspicious, so he had no choice but to bite the bullet and tell the truth, his voice hoarse with nervousness:

"Teacher Yuan, Li Mo... she has a stomachache, I'm going to the school clinic to buy her some medicine."

After he finished speaking, he held his breath.

Even the most arrogant teenager is still afraid of his teacher.

However, Yuan Hai did not immediately lose his temper.

His eyes, which seemed exceptionally sharp through his glasses, lingered on Liang Xinchong's face for a few seconds, then glanced at the mugwort patches and hot water in his hand, which were clearly prepared for a girl. A knowing and complex light flashed in his eyes.

Having taught for so many years and mentored countless students, how could these budding youthful thoughts possibly escape his notice?

After a few seconds of silence, Yuan Hai didn't say anything more, but simply stepped aside to make way for him, saying in a calm and even tone, "Go in."

Liang Xinchong felt as if he had been granted a pardon. He quickly lowered his head, strode into the classroom, and gently placed the medicine and hot water on the corner of Li Mo's desk.

Li Mo raised her eyes, looking at him with a weak yet questioning gaze.

Liang Xinchong mouthed silently, "It's nothing."

He had barely sat down and hadn't even had a chance to catch his breath when he heard Yuan Hai, who had already walked to the podium, call out to him in a low but clear voice:

"Liang Xinchong, come to my office after class."

What's meant to happen will happen.

Liang Xinchong's nerves tightened once again.

He lowered his head, pretending to read a book, but his heart was pounding with anxiety.

That's it. Old Yuan must have figured something out.
