Retrieval

Retrieval

Liu Jianchun sat in the cafe next to the hospital until dusk. Thick clouds obscured the setting sun, so before she realized it had already sunk, the sky suddenly darkened. The darkness wasn't scary; the scary part was that she hadn't brought an umbrella. The drizzle outside showed no sign of stopping; instead, it looked like it was getting heavier.

She knew she couldn't sit here in a daze any longer. Even if she wanted to find a place to digest her negative emotions alone, she should go back to the apartment first.

She walked quickly back to the apartment in the drizzle. As soon as she reached the second floor, she was shocked by the scene in front of her: the door was open, the door lock was broken into pieces, and the house was in a mess.

She was so scared that she picked up a clothes hanger from the ground and used it as a weapon. She walked into the room step by step, and only felt relieved when she was sure that the criminals were just robbing her and were not lying in ambush in the house to kidnap her.

She stood in the living room, looking at the messy and slightly empty living room. She was so angry that she lost her temper and even wanted to laugh.

Doctor An’s words really come true.

Liu Jianchun almost suspected that An Ran's mouth was blessed, and his so-called concern was no different from a curse.

She rearranged the things in every room. Apart from her backpack, cash, ID, designer clothes and antique vases in the closet, nothing was missing. She took pictures of the house room by room and showed them to her friends, discussing with them how to compensate them.

If her friends hadn't reminded her to go to the police station, she would have almost forgotten that she had. After so many bad things happened, she started to think it was all her fault and even forgot her right to be angry.

The thief took her backpack but not her coat. She found Dr. An's business card in her coat pocket and told him the whole story of the apartment being burglarized. Dr. An was quite reliable. In addition to helping her report the crime, he also found a locksmith who would be here within two hours, which at least guaranteed her a good night's sleep.

She sat alone in the dark living room waiting for the locksmith to come. Somehow, whenever she thought of Jian Zhaonan, her chest would feel inexplicably stuffy. In the end, she couldn't delete the image of this person from her mind, and the stuffiness in her chest turned into heartache.

She seemed to be trapped in pain, sitting motionless on the sofa, just looking out the window, blankly, neither wanting to solve her and his problems, nor able to do anything else.

The phone rang and the locksmith couldn't find her front door, so she had to go downstairs.

The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and in just a few hours a thick layer of rainwater accumulated on the ground. In order to avoid puddles, she had to be very careful, always paying attention to her feet, but ignoring what was in front of her.

She felt someone blocking the way in front of her, and subconsciously dodged to the side, but she stepped in the wrong place and almost fell.

"Be careful." The person blocking her way was kind enough to reach out and help her.

Her body recognized who he was before her heart did, and her heart was pounding before she even looked up.

She looked up at Jian Zhaonan, and the moment her eyes met his, he subconsciously avoided her, feeling guilty: "Doctor An told me that something happened to you. After all, we are friends, and you came here for me..."

She pushed his hand away with a wry smile: "No need to explain, I know everything."

"You know what?" He asked nervously.

"You know I shouldn't think too much. We are just friends."

Before she could finish her words, he said in a voice so low that it was almost inaudible: "What if I say that what you think is right?"

She looked at him in shock.

"I'm just being stubborn and being stubborn. I can fool everyone but myself."

Fin.

It has been delayed for too long, and I found that there was a problem with the outline halfway through writing. I really have no motivation to continue, but it is still necessary to give the protagonist a happy ending.
