Chapter 103 Undercurrents Rise Again

The smell of gunpowder still lingered in the air, like a persistent venomous snake, occasionally peeking out to remind people of the cruelty of the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Lu Zhaoming rubbed his aching temples, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He wished he could collapse onto the old sofa and get a good night's sleep.

But no, now is not the time to relax.

"Su Li, how's the file decryption going?" He walked up to Su Li, his voice low and hoarse.

Su Li was typing furiously on the keyboard of an old computer, fine beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. Hearing Lu Zhaoming's voice, she said without looking up, "Almost there, almost there. This encryption method is really insane, like an old lady's foot binding cloth, smelly and long!"

A few minutes later, a line of green code suddenly popped up on the computer screen. Su Li let out a long sigh of relief, stretched, and displayed her alluring figure to the fullest: "Done! Guess what I found?"

Lu Zhaoming raised an eyebrow, a vague sense of unease rising in his heart: "Stop beating around the bush, just spit it out!"

Su Li rolled her eyes at him, pointed to a line of text on the screen, and said in a solemn tone, "Project Dawn...this is a continuation of the White Coat Experiment!"

“Project Dawn?” Lu Zhaoming frowned, the name making him feel inexplicably uneasy. “Tell me more about it.”

Su Li swiped the mouse, and blurry photos and obscure text appeared on the screen. She quickly scanned them and extracted the key information: "According to the documents, Project Dawn aims to create more perfect experimental subjects. They are trying to create an absolutely obedient and powerful army through genetic modification and mind control... Moreover, Crimson Owl is not dead; he is still secretly controlling all of this!"

"Damn it! That old fox!" Lu Zhaoming couldn't help but curse. He felt like he was being watched by an invisible spider, and he was very uncomfortable. "It seems that our previous actions did not completely destroy their foundation. Instead, we alerted them."

In order to obtain more information about the Dawn Project, Lu Zhaoming decided to try to win over Xiao Que again.

He knew that to convince someone like Xiao Que, who was struggling to survive in the dark, he had to offer enough incentives.

"Qinglian, bring me the mental interference module," Lu Zhaoming said.

Qinglian immediately took out a strangely shaped device from her backpack and handed it to Lu Zhaoming.

I got this thing from the post-apocalyptic factory; I didn't expect it to come in handy so soon.

Lu Zhaoming connected the mental interference module to a small communicator and began to fabricate a false intelligence report.

He mimicked the tone of someone within the Blood Raven organization, implying that Crimson Owl had lost control of the organization, that someone was plotting to betray him, and that he would spread this message so that Little Sparrow would hear it.

This tactic is called "fishing in troubled waters," which aims to create panic and suspicion within the Blood Raven ranks, thereby creating an opportunity for him.

Sure enough, not long after, Lu Zhaoming's communicator rang, and an unfamiliar number appeared on the screen.

"Hello, is this Lu Zhaoming?" Xiao Que's slightly hoarse voice came through the communicator, sounding a little nervous.

"It's me, Little Sparrow, long time no see." Lu Zhaoming's voice was calm and steady, as if everything was under his control.

“If you want to live, you’d better know Red Owl’s new target—the abandoned hospital in the east of the city.” Little Sparrow’s voice was very low, as if she was afraid of being overheard. “The first batch of experimental samples are hidden there.”

"An abandoned hospital?" Lu Zhaoming repeated, secretly on guard. He didn't believe Xiao Que would be so kind; there must be some conspiracy behind it. "What else?"

"That's all I can tell you. Take care of yourself!" With that, Xiao Que hung up the phone.

Lu Zhaoming put down the communicator and fell into deep thought.

Is the information provided by Xiao Que true or false?

Would Red Owl really hide experimental samples in an abandoned hospital?

Could this be yet another trap set by Red Owl?

"Zhaoming, what are you thinking about?" Su Li asked.

"Little Sparrow said that Red Owl hid the first batch of experimental samples in an abandoned hospital in the east of the city." Lu Zhaoming simply told Su Li the whole story.

"An abandoned hospital? That place is gloomy and terrifying, and it must be full of dangers. I think there's something fishy about this," Su Li said, frowning.

“I also feel something is not right, but no matter what, we have to go and take a look. After all, it is related to the progress of the Dawn Project,” Lu Zhaoming said. “This operation must be carried out with utmost care and caution. We absolutely cannot let our guard down.”

After careful planning, Lu Zhaoming decided to split his forces into two groups.

He and Su Li were responsible for drawing fire, while Qinglian led Xiaocao through the underground passage to infiltrate the abandoned hospital.

"Remember, safety is the most important thing. If you encounter danger, retreat immediately and do not linger in battle!" Lu Zhaoming instructed.

"Don't worry, Your Honor, we know what to do." Qinglian nodded and disappeared into the darkness with Xiaocao.

Lu Zhaoming took a deep breath, turned to look at Su Li, a resolute glint in his eyes: "Let's begin our operation!"

The two drove their SUV at high speed and soon arrived at the outskirts of the abandoned hospital.

The area was completely surrounded by Blood Ravens, with heavily armed guards patrolling back and forth, creating an extremely tense atmosphere.

"It seems Chi Xiao really did set up an ambush here." Su Li looked at the scene before her and sneered. "But does he think he can stop us like this? How naive!"
