Chapter 109 The Brother's Choice

The afterglow of the setting sun cast a blood-red hue over the safe house in the wasteland. As soon as Lu Zhaoming entered, he saw Su Li facing a pile of bottles and jars, her delicate face filled with frustration.

"What's this?" Lu Zhaoming walked over, casually picked up an unidentified test tube, and weighed it in his hand. "Did you come up with something new? Something for beauty and skincare?"

Su Li rolled her eyes in annoyance and snatched the test tube from his hand: "This is antibiotics that I went through a lot of trouble to get. Do you think it's juice? Can't you see I'm looking worried?"

Lu Zhaoming chuckled, not taking it to heart. He knew Su Li was just sharp-tongued.

He sat down at the table, crossed his legs, and said, "Alright, don't worry. I have good news for you."

"Oh? What good news could make Judge Lu so happy?" Su Li raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical of his "good news".

“We,” Lu Zhaoming lowered his voice, feigning mystery, “may need some new allies…”

Meanwhile, in another room of the safe house, the atmosphere was completely different.

Xiao Hu was holding Liu Feng's hand tightly, his eyes red.

Liu Feng lay on the makeshift bed, his face pale and his breathing weak.

"Brother, how are you feeling? Is anything bothering you?" Xiao Hu's voice trembled, afraid of missing any subtle reaction from Liu Feng.

Liu Feng's eyelids twitched, and he slowly opened them a crack.

His eyes were still unfocused, but there was a hint of clarity within them.

He tried to raise his hand, but found that he couldn't muster any strength at all.

“Little…Little Tiger…” Liu Feng’s voice was so hoarse that it was almost inaudible.

"Brother! I'm here, I'm right here!" Xiao Hu was so excited he almost jumped up. He carefully grasped Liu Feng's hand. "Brother, you're awake! You're finally awake!"

A tear slid down Liu Feng's cheek, silently testifying to his inner hope and struggle.

This is the scene that Lu Zhaoming saw when he pushed open the door.

He was also feeling bad, after all, Liu Feng had been his comrade-in-arms and a brother who had gone through thick and thin with him.

"How are you?" Lu Zhaoming walked to the bedside and asked softly.

"The situation isn't good. Although he can regain consciousness occasionally, he's mostly unconscious." Su Li sighed. "Those guys from Chi Xiao are really ruthless."

"Don't worry, I'll figure something out." Lu Zhaoming patted Xiaohu on the shoulder, his tone firm.

For the next few days, Lu Zhaoming barely slept.

He locked himself in his room, frantically analyzing the intelligence he had obtained from Red Owl, trying to find a breakthrough.

“No, this can’t go on.” Lu Zhaoming rubbed his sore eyes and muttered to himself, “To solve the problem completely, we must find Chi Xiao’s lair and destroy his power.”

He decided to take the risk.

As night fell, Lu Zhaoming changed into a black night suit and quietly left the safe house.

His target was a secret laboratory in the Red Owl's controlled area.

There is a wealth of experimental data stored there, which may provide clues to the antidote or uncover more of Red Owl's conspiracies.

The infiltration of the laboratory went exceptionally smoothly.

Lu Zhaoming easily evaded all the guards by using the system's built-in stealth function.

The laboratory was bustling with activity.

Researchers in white uniforms moved among various instruments, their eyes filled with fanaticism, like a group of madmen possessed by a demon.

Lu Zhaoming didn't have time to pay attention to their experimental content; his goal was the laboratory's database.

After much effort, Lu Zhaoming finally found the entrance to the database.

He skillfully cracked the lock and went inside.

The archive was filled with all sorts of documents and materials.

Lu Zhaoming quickly flipped through the pages, hoping to find useful information.

Suddenly, a document labeled "Dawn of Light" caught his attention.

Lu Zhaoming opened the document and began to read it carefully.

The document details the path and target areas of the virus's spread.

"Damn it! Chi Xiao's ambition is even greater than I imagined!" Lu Zhaoming cursed inwardly, quickly photographed all the evidence, and sent it to Su Li for analysis through the system.

Just as he was about to leave, he inadvertently caught sight of a row of cabinets containing psychosuggestion devices.

"A psychological suggestion device? It seems that Crimson Owl is planning to play dirty tricks." Lu Zhaoming's heart skipped a beat, and he became even more vigilant.

Upon returning to the safe house, Lu Zhaoming immediately summoned Su Li and Lao Lang and shared the newly acquired intelligence with them.

“Red Owl’s plan is to completely dismantle the wasteland order and force everyone to submit to his rule,” Lu Zhaoming said in a deep voice. “We must stop him.”

"So what should we do now?" the old wolf asked.

“I have a bold plan.” Lu Zhaoming’s eyes gleamed. “We can use Liu Feng as bait to lure Chi Xiao out.”

"No! I don't agree!" Upon hearing Lu Zhaoming's plan, Xiao Hu immediately jumped up excitedly, "You're risking my brother's life!"

"Xiao Hu, calm down." Lu Zhaoming explained patiently, "This is my only chance to save your brother, and it's also the key to stopping Chi Xiao."

"I..." Xiao Hu's face was pale. He knew, of course, that Lu Zhaoming was telling the truth, but he couldn't accept risking his brother's life.

"Trust me, Xiao Hu." Lu Zhaoming walked up to Xiao Hu and patted him hard on the shoulder. "I won't let anything happen to your brother."
