Okay, no problem, get ready!
The eerie blue light, like a beauty camera with a cheat code, flickered wildly, almost blinding people.
Lu Zhaoming squinted, feeling as if he were at a disco, except that the DJ wasn't playing music, but death metal.
"This thing... is it going to explode?" Lu Zhaoming thought to himself. The intensity of the light was even more intense than the preheating before a nuclear explosion.
He subconsciously activated the "Doomsday Judgment System" to scan the crack.
The data poured down like a waterfall, scrolling wildly across his retina.
"Warning! Unknown psionic energy fluctuations detected! The energy characteristics are similar to those of a psionic amplifier, but with higher purity, and the danger is increasing exponentially!" The system's notification was urgent and sharp, much like the shouts of police officers in a crime thriller.
Lu Zhaoming gasped.
It feels like you think you just have a cold, but the doctor tells you you have a terminal illness.
"We must stop it!" Lu Zhaoming made a decisive decision. If this thing exploded, the entire wasteland would suffer.
He glanced at Su Li and saw that her face was pale and her body was trembling uncontrollably, like a frightened little rabbit.
“You should step back first; this place is too dangerous,” Lu Zhaoming said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
This is not the time to play the hero; survival is the priority.
Su Li shook her head, her eyes filled with determination.
"I am the test subject, and perhaps I can help you interpret these energies."
"Huh?" Lu Zhaoming was stunned for a moment. This plot was not going a bit right.
According to the usual plot, shouldn't the female lead obediently listen to him and cheer him on?
"Are you sure?" Lu Zhaoming was still a little uneasy.
After all, this eerie blue light didn't look like something to be trifled with, and if Su Li were to be corrupted by it, it would be a huge problem.
"Trust me." Su Li's eyes were full of pleading.
Just as the two were discussing countermeasures, a loud "boom" shook the entire safe house, and dust fell like a light snowfall.
"Holy crap! What's going on?" Lu Zhaoming almost jumped up; it felt like an earthquake.
"It's Black Crow! He's started attacking!" Su Li exclaimed, her voice filled with fear.
Lu Zhaoming immediately activated the system to monitor the activity outside the safe house.
Black Crow was seen leading a group of men in black, frantically attacking the entrance to the safe house.
"These guys are really persistent!" Lu Zhaoming spat. It seemed they wouldn't give up until he taught them a lesson.
"We must buy time!" Lu Zhaoming's mind raced as he considered a solution.
He had a sudden inspiration and came up with a brilliant idea.
"System, simulate fake defensive firepower sound effects to make Black Crow mistakenly believe that the safe house is full of traps!" Lu Zhaoming silently recited in his mind.
"Command received! Start simulation!" The system immediately sprang into action, and the sounds of gunfire, explosions, and screams instantly filled the safe house, making it even more thrilling than a Hollywood blockbuster.
Sure enough, upon hearing these sounds, Black Crow immediately stopped its attack, a look of hesitation on its face.
"Boss, this place is a bit eerie. There seem to be a lot of traps and mechanisms inside," a man in black said, his voice filled with fear.
Black Crow frowned. Although he knew this was likely a smokescreen by Lu Zhaoming, he didn't dare to take the risk lightly.
"Don't act rashly yet. Let's find out the situation first," Black Crow commanded.
Upon seeing this, Lu Zhaoming's lips curled into a smug smile.
It seems that this "empty city strategy" is somewhat effective.
“Let’s go to the medical area!” Lu Zhaoming said to Su Li.
"What are you going there for?" Su Li asked, puzzled.
“Let’s find more clues about the experiment!” Lu Zhaoming explained, “Since this eerie blue light is related to the experiment, we might find something in the medical area.”
The two jogged all the way to the medical archives.
This place is piled high with all sorts of documents and materials, it's practically a small mountain.
"My God, there's so much stuff, how long will it take to find it?" Su Li complained.
"There's no other way, we can only search slowly," Lu Zhaoming said, then began to bury himself in the search.
After some effort, Su Li finally found an encrypted file.
"Found it! Here's some information about the 'Azure Core'!" Su Li said excitedly.
Lu Zhaoming immediately leaned over and carefully read the document.
“Azure Core… a high-level experimental device used for human modification…” Lu Zhaoming murmured to himself.
"I understand! This eerie blue light is the energy leaking from the Azure Core!" Su Li said. "This device is very likely an upgraded version of the psionic amplifier!"
Lu Zhaoming nodded in agreement.
"System, analyze this data and see if you can find a solution to the problem," Lu Zhaoming silently instructed himself.
The system immediately began analysis and quickly reached a conclusion.
"Warning! The Azure Core Energy is unstable. If it gets out of control, it will cause devastating damage to the entire wasteland!"
Lu Zhaoming gasped.
The power of this azure core was even more terrifying than he had imagined.
“We must stop it!” Lu Zhaoming said, his tone filled with determination.
He decided to try using the system's "psychic analysis module" to absorb some of the overflowing energy in hopes of stabilizing the situation.
