"Young man, are you ready? Controlling your brute force is no joke!" The eagle's voice, tinged with seriousness, echoed through the empty valley, mingling with the howling wind like an apocalyptic battle song.
Lu Zhaoming took a deep breath. The air was filled with the earthy smell and a faint sulfurous odor, the restless energy deep underground.
He could feel the power within him stirring, like a caged beast ready to break free at any moment.
“Senior, I’m ready!” Lu Zhaoming’s eyes were firm; he knew he had no way out.
The damned countdown of the trial system was like a sword hanging over his head, forcing him to take control of this power as soon as possible.
The eagle nodded, a solemn look appearing on his aged face: "Remember, superpowers are not tools, but a part of your body. Only by truly understanding them can you master them. You must feel them with your heart, listen to their voice, instead of suppressing them with brute force."
Lu Zhaoming closed his eyes and, following the eagle's instructions, began to try to guide the energy within his body.
He imagined himself as a river, and his superpower as the rushing water. What he wanted to do was not to build dams to block it, but to dredge and guide the flow, letting the river flow according to his will.
However, things did not go as smoothly as expected.
As he tried to control the energy, images of Su Li's alluring smile, Lin Shuang's resolute gaze, and the survivors struggling to survive in the wasteland flashed through his mind.
A jumble of thoughts swirled together, making it impossible for him to concentrate.
"puff!"
A mouthful of blood spurted out suddenly, and Lu Zhaoming's face turned pale, his body swaying precariously.
He could feel the energy within his body raging wildly, like a wild beast out of control, trying to tear him apart completely.
"Zhaoming! Concentrate and don't let your mind wander!" The eagle's voice boomed in his ears like a thunderclap.
Lu Zhaoming suddenly woke up, realizing that he had made a fatal mistake.
He was too eager for quick success and neglected the most important thing.
"Huff... huff..."
He was breathing heavily, trying to calm himself down and force himself to quiet his mind.
He told himself that now was not the time to think about those messy things; the most important thing now was to survive. Only by surviving could he protect the people he wanted to protect.
He closed his eyes again. This time, he didn't want to think about anything; he simply felt the energy within his body.
He imagined himself as a tree, rooted in the earth, unmoved by wind and rain.
Gradually, he felt the energy within his body begin to become docile, like an obedient little snake slowly moving through his meridians.
He tried to guide them with his mind, making them run along the routes he had set.
Once, twice, three times...
Each time he was guided, he felt a sharp pain, as if his meridians were being torn apart.
But he gritted his teeth and persevered.
He knew this was the darkness before dawn, and that as long as he persevered, he would see the light of hope.
Meanwhile, on a high ground not far from the valley, Leng Feng was holding binoculars, coldly observing everything in the valley.
"Captain, it's confirmed, Lu Zhaoming is in the valley!" a subordinate reported.
Leng Feng lowered his binoculars, a cold smile appearing on his lips: "Hmph, just as I expected, this guy actually wants to ask a superpowered mentor for help, what a pipe dream!"
"Captain, should we take action immediately?" the subordinate asked.
Leng Feng shook his head: "No, wait a minute. I want to see what tricks this Lu Zhaoming can pull." He paused, then said, "Qinglian, go and lie in wait near the valley, find out what's going on, and see what kind of background that superpowered mentor has."
"Yes, Captain!" a petite woman replied, then turned and disappeared into the jungle.
This woman was none other than Qinglian.
A hint of hesitation was visible on her face, and a struggle flashed in her eyes.
Since the last mission failed, she has become increasingly dissatisfied with Leng Feng's ruthless style.
She witnessed her former teammates, who had fought alongside her, die tragically at Lu Zhaoming's hands, while Leng Feng remained unmoved, as if those people were merely pawns in his game, to be discarded at will after use.
She began to doubt whether what she had been insisting on all along was truly the right thing to do.
She began to wonder if she should continue to work for Red Owl and contribute to those inhuman experiments.
After several hours of arduous training, Lu Zhaoming was finally able to barely control the fluctuations of his supernatural abilities.
He attempted to combine the Eye of Judgment with his supernatural abilities, hoping to develop a new skill.
He focused his mind, channeling the energy within his body into his eyes.
Instantly, his eyes turned blood red, like two burning flames.
He could feel that everything around him had changed. The energy fluctuations in the air, the pulsations deep underground, and even the trajectory of an ant crawling in the distance were clearly presented in his mind.
"A storm of trials!"
He let out a low growl, his eyes snapped open, and two blood-red beams of light shot out instantly, intertwining in the air to form a twisted vortex, as if to devour everything.
However, this storm of judgment lasted for less than a second before collapsing.
Lu Zhaoming felt a sharp headache, as if his head was about to explode.
