Chapter 129 The Truth About the Unknown Signal

A cold glint appeared between Lu Zhaoming's brows, and his eyes swept across the surrounding ruins like an eagle soaring through the sky.

At that moment, the air seemed to freeze, and every grain of dust seemed to be resisting something with all its might.

"You go first, I'll cover the rear," Lu Zhaoming said in a low voice to Afu and Xiaohu, his tone filled with unwavering determination.

Afu and Xiaohu clearly understood, and although they were full of worry, they quickly nodded.

Lu Zhaoming moved through the ruins like a ghost, searching for a place to hide.

Soon, he found a relatively safe corner behind a collapsed stone pillar.

He quickly lay down and listened carefully to the sounds around him.

The Green Serpent's forces were gradually tightening their encirclement, their approaching footsteps like the footsteps of death, closing in step by step.

Just then, his gaze fell on a small signal transmitter.

This thing's design style is completely different from Blood Raven or pre-nuclear war technology, appearing exceptionally advanced and bizarre.

The system interface popped up again, and the red warning was alarming.

[Residual alien technology detected!]

Lu Zhaoming frowned and quickly put away the signal transmitter, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.

This is far more than ordinary signal interference; it is a remnant of some far more unfathomable alien technology.

At this moment, the troops led by the Green Snake were approaching. Lu Zhaoming activated the system's "time delay" function, and the scene in front of him seemed to be slowed down, making every second seem exceptionally long.

He narrowly avoided several sniper shots and quickly retreated to the location where he would reunite with Afu and Xiaohu.

"Afu, Xiaohu, let's go!" Lu Zhaoming's voice was deep and powerful. The three quickly reunited and retreated along the pre-arranged route.

They chose a hidden underground passage, hoping to escape the Blood Ravens' pursuit.

Inside the passage, they encountered several traps.

Thanks to the system's precise navigation and Afu's mechanical knowledge, Lu Zhaoming turned danger into safety.

Every narrow escape made their hearts race, but it also fueled their determination to keep going.

Finally, they arrived at a temporary hiding place.

Professor Lin's expression changed drastically when he saw the signal transmitter in Lu Zhaoming's hand. He said in a low voice, "This is a remnant of the 'Sky Dome Project.' My father was involved in it, but he withdrew later due to ideological differences."

Lu Zhaoming's eyes lit up, and he pressed for an answer: "What is Project Sky Dome?"

Professor Lin hesitated for a moment before finally admitting, "They were trying to establish contact with extraterrestrial civilizations, but they may have opened something they shouldn't have." This information set off alarm bells in Lu Zhaoming's mind. He realized that behind this signal transmitter might be a much grander conspiracy.

In order to buy time to crack the secret of the signal transmitter, Lu Zhaoming decided to temporarily avoid the main force of the Blood Ravens.

He led his team to continue along the hidden underground passage, where they discovered more clues about "Project Sky Dome".

These records suggest that this may be related to the outbreak of nuclear war.

Just as they were about to reach the safe zone, the system interface flashed again:

Lu Zhaoming's system interface flashed again, and the cold, emotionless electronic voice struck Lu Zhaoming's heart with every word: "Unknown signal strength increased; full-scale interference expected in three minutes."

Lu Zhaoming's heart sank. Holy crap, this is going to be a total wipeout!

His face, which always wore a roguish smile, couldn't hold back at this moment, and he became unusually serious.

He whirled around, his voice low and menacing as he spoke to Professor Lin, Afu, and the bewildered Xiaohu behind him. His voice, barely audible, carried a chilling edge: "Did you all hear that? We don't have much time left. Three minutes, everyone, get the hell out of here! Or you'll be waiting for your brains to be turned into mush!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the air seemed to be gripped tightly by an invisible hand, becoming thick and heavy, making it almost impossible to breathe.

That inexplicable and eerie signal fluctuation spread out in circles like ripples on water, growing stronger and stronger. Everyone's eardrums began to buzz, as if a million bees were having a death rock party in their heads, making their temples throb.

Xiao Hu's still-childish face instantly paled several shades, his lips trembled, and he clenched his fists tightly, clearly terrified.

Afu was calmer than him, but he also subconsciously touched the large wrench that had been with him for many years at his waist, as if the cold iron thing could bring him a sense of security.

Professor Lin, clutching the oddly shaped signal transmitter, was ashen-faced. He exclaimed, "This frequency... it's resonating! It's activating something! Or... it's trying to completely block our brainwaves!"

"Damn it!" A cold glint flashed in Lu Zhaoming's eyes as he cursed inwardly. These cowardly bastards are always up to no good with these underworld tricks!

The bright red countdown numbers on the system interface were like sharp knives, scraping at his nerves.

"Shut up! If you don't want to die, stick close to me!" Lu Zhaoming roared, no longer caring about hiding. Like an enraged cheetah, he charged ahead towards the only faintly lit exit of the passage.

The light, flickering in the darkness, seemed both like a glimmer of hope in a desperate situation and, damn it, a soul-snatching invitation to a deeper level of hell.

His voice echoed through the narrow passage, carrying an undeniable determination and ruthlessness: "Anyone who falls behind, don't expect me to stop and rescue them! Charge!"
