Chapter 155 Fatal Gamble

On his way into the white-robed control center, Lu Zhaoming's steps were light and swift, his eyes gleaming with an unusual light in the night.

The system notification sounds in his ear seemed to be encouraging him, but his sense of crisis did not diminish at all.

A cold smile curled at the corner of his lips as he silently calculated every possible variable.

Just as he was about to reach the target area, a series of rapid footsteps suddenly came from ahead, and a group of mercenaries led by Big Bear came towards him.

Lu Zhaoming's heart tightened, but a sly glint flashed in his eyes.

He deliberately made his figure sway slightly in the shadows to attract the bear's attention.

"Stop! You think you can escape?" Big Bear's voice, like that of an enraged beast, shook the surrounding air.

Lu Zhaoming stopped and calmly turned around. Facing the bear's anger, he still wore a relaxed smile.

“Run? That’s not my style.” He replied coldly, his voice echoing in the night sky.

Big Bear raised an eyebrow, clearly curious about Lu Zhaoming's confidence.

He shouted an order: "Brothers, don't let him get away! Surround him!"

The mercenaries quickly dispersed, forming a semi-circular encirclement that completely surrounded Lu Zhaoming.

The atmosphere instantly became tense, and a murderous aura filled the air.

But Lu Zhaoming didn't seem to care. He remained calm and composed, as if everything was under his control.

“I know what you’re looking for, but it’s worthless to me. Spare my life, and I’ll tell you the real source of your intelligence,” Lu Zhaoming said slowly, his voice filled with unwavering determination.

A hint of coldness flashed in Big Bear's eyes, but he still nodded slightly: "Why should I believe you?"

Lu Zhaoming calmly took out a chip from his pocket and gently tossed it to Big Bear.

“This data was provided by Old Joe, and it’s enough to prove my sincerity,” he said, his tone tinged with a hint of provocation.

Big Bear took the chip, quickly checked its contents, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.

“It seems you do know something.” His voice was deep, but tinged with smugness. “We’ve captured your accomplice, and now the entire base is our hunting ground!”

Lu Zhaoming's eyes lit up, and he secretly sneered in his heart.

The big bear fell for the trap.

"Oh? So you're still looking for some important target?" He continued to probe subtly, already having guessed several possible answers in his mind.

Big Bear laughed heartily and said smugly, "That's right, that guy has the White Robe's core secrets, but unfortunately he's now trapped!"

Just as Da Xiong was getting carried away with his triumph, Lu Zhaoming quietly activated the time-delay function, and the surrounding environment instantly slowed down. He quickly planted the miniature bomb he was carrying on a nearby device.

The entire process was as clear as slow motion in his eyes, while the mercenaries around him were completely unaware.

"It seems you're nothing special after all, unable to even protect your own people." Lu Zhaoming deliberately provoked Da Xiong, his voice laced with sarcasm.

Big Bear was indeed enraged. He roared furiously, "Attack! Kill him!"

The mercenaries swarmed forward, but just as they got close, Lu Zhaoming detonated the bomb.

With a deafening roar, flames shot into the sky, and Big Bear's squad was thrown into chaos.

The shockwave from the explosion shattered the surrounding equipment, filling the air with smoke and dust that blotted out the sun.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Lu Zhaoming quickly disappeared into the night, leaving only a soft voice echoing in the air: "Your prey will soon come back for you..." The aftershocks of the explosion still reverberated in the air, and the pungent smell of gunpowder filled the nostrils. Like a nimble night cat, Lu Zhaoming disappeared from the mercenaries' sight with a few quick movements.

That silly bear, does he really think he can keep a secret?

Lu Zhaoming pursed his lips, his mind already rapidly matching the phrases "core secret" and "a turtle in a jar" with Liu Gang's stubborn, donkey-like face.

It's highly likely that Old Liu was given special "attention" by those white-robed grandsons.

Just as he was pondering this, a crisp "ding!" sounded in his ear, and the [Doomsday Judgment System] came online, providing him with helpful guidance—"The control terminal for the psychological suggestion device is located in the laboratory on the third basement floor."

"Liu Gang... Xiao Dao... wait for me!" A fierce glint flashed in Lu Zhaoming's eyes, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked. Did these white-robed bastards really think he was made of clay?

He not only wants to save people, but also wipe out this whole bunch of bastards, so they'll know why the flowers are so red!

The air on the third basement level smelled strange, a mixture of disinfectant and rust. It was so damp and cold you could wring water out of it. Unidentified slime seeped from the walls, and you could occasionally hear the squeaking of rats. It was practically a scene straight out of a horror movie.

Following the system's guidance, Lu Zhaoming wandered around and finally stopped in front of a heavy alloy door.

The access control system was flashing a faint red light, clearly indicating that it was no friendly entity.

What made his pupils shrink even more was that a line of cold characters slowly appeared on the screen: "Welcome to the Land of the End."

"The Land of the End? Heh, quite the boast." Lu Zhaoming's lips curled into a playful smile. He reached out and lightly tapped the cold metal door with his fingertips, as if greeting an old friend: "Interesting. I'll play along then."
