Lu Zhaoming stared at the heavy stone door before him. The runes carved on the door resembled a group of twisted earthworms, emitting a faint blue light.
This isn't an experimental base, it's like a scene from the Tomb Raider Chronicles!
"System, translate this for me, what does all this mean?" Lu Zhaoming called out in his mind.
"Scanning... Scan complete. Data shows that these runes are related to supernatural energy fluctuations, and are speculated to be sealing or guiding devices."
"Sealing? Guiding? So, these bastards are trying to use these antique gadgets to cause trouble?" Lu Zhaoming stroked his chin, feeling like Tang Sanzang who had accidentally wandered into the Spider Cave.
Su Li leaned closer, giving him a flirtatious glance: "What's wrong, Judge Lu? Did you figure something out?"
"I know a little bit, I know a little bit." Lu Zhaoming waved his hand, thinking to himself that this girl was really a vixen, never forgetting to exude charm.
"It seems that this 'Sky Dome Project' is more complicated than we imagined. Maybe the inspiration was gleaned from these old relics."
After saying that, Lu Zhaoming raised his hand and placed it on the stone door.
It feels cool to the touch, like touching a piece of ancient ice.
He took a deep breath, channeled his inner power, and tried to resonate with the runes on the stone gate.
"Snap—"
With a soft sound, the stone door slowly opened, revealing a dark, gaping opening, like a giant maw ready to devour its prey.
"Let's go in and take a look." Lu Zhaoming took the lead and went in first.
Su Li followed closely behind, while Bai Yu and Xiao Cui trailed behind, with Xiao Dao bringing up the rear. The group cautiously made their way forward.
On the walls on both sides of the passage, oil lamps emitting a ghastly green light were lit at intervals, making the passage appear eerie and terrifying.
A rotten smell permeated the air, making people feel uneasy.
After walking for about ten minutes, they arrived at a huge iron gate.
The iron gate was rusty and covered with bullet holes and knife marks, clearly having witnessed countless battles.
"Be careful, there's an ambush!" Lu Zhaoming whispered a warning.
He gestured for Bai Yu to come forward and check. Bai Yu took out a detector from his backpack and carefully scanned the area around the iron gate.
“No abnormalities were found.” Bai Yu shook his head.
“Something’s not right…” Lu Zhaoming frowned, feeling that something was amiss.
He started the system scan again, and this time, he finally found a clue.
"Trap! Back off!" Lu Zhaoming shouted, and flew backward at the same time.
However, it was too late.
Suddenly, a huge iron net fell down from above the iron gate, covering everyone inside.
"Holy crap! We've messed up!" Lu Zhaoming couldn't help but swear.
Before they could react, countless lights suddenly lit up on the surrounding walls, illuminating the entire space as bright as day.
They then realized that they were in a huge, enclosed hall.
On the walls of the hall, images appeared as if projected.
In the footage, a group of researchers in white coats are conducting inhumane experiments on some people.
Those people were injected with all sorts of drugs, and their bodies underwent terrible mutations, turning them into monsters that were neither human nor ghost.
"This is..." Su Li covered her mouth, "This is a record of early superpower experiments!"
Lu Zhaoming suppressed his discomfort and carefully observed the scene.
He discovered that the experiment was originally intended to awaken human potential, but it was later misused to create war machines.
"Those bastards!" Xiao Dao angrily waved his fist, wishing he could tear those researchers to pieces.
Just then, a chilling laugh suddenly came from the loudspeakers in the hall.
"Lu Zhaoming, you're finally here. I thought you'd be a coward out there for the rest of your life!"
Lu Zhaoming's face darkened. He recognized the voice; it was Leng Yue!
"Leng Yue, you crazy woman, what exactly do you want to do?" Lu Zhaoming shouted into the loudspeaker.
"What do I want to do? Heh, I want you dead!" Leng Yue's laughter grew even more maniacal.
"You think you can control that power? What wishful thinking! You're nothing but prey delivered to our doorstep!"
"Is that so? Then let's see who the prey is!" Lu Zhaoming sneered.
He secretly observed his surroundings and discovered that the ceiling structure of the hall was very weak, which seemed to be exploitable to create chaos.
"Bai Yu, prepare the explosives," Lu Zhaoming said in a low voice.
Bai Yu nodded, took out several C4 bombs from his backpack, and began installing them on the ceiling.
"Leng Yue, aren't you very powerful? If you're so capable, come down and fight me one-on-one! What kind of hero hides in the back?" Lu Zhaoming deliberately provoked.
"Heh, a provocation? You think I'll fall for it?" Leng Yue sneered.
"However, since you're so eager to die, I'll grant your wish!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the iron door of the hall suddenly opened, and a group of men in black, armed with guns, rushed in.
Leading the group was none other than Leng Yue!
"Kill! Leave no one alive!" Leng Yue waved her hand and gave the order.
The men in black immediately opened fire on Lu Zhaoming and his group, bullets raining down like downpours.
"Now! Detonate!" Lu Zhaoming shouted.
Bai Yu immediately pressed the detonator.
"boom--"
With a loud bang, a large hole was blasted open in the ceiling, and countless pieces of rubble and dust poured down.
Caught off guard, the man in black was thrown to the ground.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Lu Zhaoming rushed to the platform in the center of the hall, where a crystal container was placed, inside which floated a crystal that emitted a ghostly blue light.
