Lu Zhaoming shook his head; the hangover-like dizziness hadn't completely subsided, and his body felt like he'd just finished a marathon, every muscle screaming in protest.
He took a deep breath; the air was thick with the stench of gunpowder and blood, making him want to vomit.
"Where is Leng Yue?" he asked in a hoarse voice, his tone so low it seemed to come from hell.
Su Li immediately leaned closer, a hint of worry on her alluring face: "She ran away, leaving behind a harsh statement before she left, saying that you can't escape fate."
"Fate?" Lu Zhaoming scoffed, a disdainful smile playing on his lips. "My fate is my own to decide!"
Just then, Xiao Cui, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke up: "Brother Lu, I know a place that might be able to help you."
Lu Zhaoming raised an eyebrow, signaling her to continue.
“I heard Tie Niu say that not far from here, there is an abandoned post-apocalyptic ruin. It is said that it used to be the site of a large research institution, and it may contain core data about human experimentation.” Xiao Cui’s voice trembled slightly. Clearly, Tie Niu’s death had greatly affected her, and now she only wanted revenge.
"Apocalyptic ruins?" What Lu Zhaoming needed most right now was to figure out what those sons of bitches were up to in order to take the initiative in the upcoming game.
“Okay, let’s go there!” Lu Zhaoming made the decision immediately without the slightest hesitation.
Fortune favors the bold; how can you catch tiger cubs without venturing into the tiger's den?
After a short rest, Lu Zhaoming, along with Su Li, Bai Yu, Xiao Dao, and Xiao Cui, set off towards the apocalyptic ruins that Xiao Cui had mentioned.
The ruins are located in a desolate valley, and the entrance has been tightly sealed off by the Scorpion Squad.
A squad of well-equipped soldiers dressed in black combat uniforms patrolled back and forth. The leader was a tall man with a cold face; he was none other than Shi Hu, a capable henchman of Poison Scorpion.
"It seems they were prepared all along," Lu Zhaoming said in a low voice, narrowing his eyes.
"What should we do? Should we launch a full-scale attack?" Xiao Dao was eager to try; all he wanted now was to avenge his brother.
Lu Zhaoming shook his head; a direct attack would only result in pointless sacrifices.
He activated the "Doomsday Judgment System" and began scanning the surrounding terrain.
Soon, the system provided a message: To the left of the entrance to the ruins, there is a hidden underground passage that leads to the depths of the ruins.
“Let’s take this route,” Lu Zhaoming said, pointing to the red dot on the map.
"Brother Lu, are you sure this road is okay?" Bai Yu asked with some concern.
"Don't worry, my system is even more reliable than navigation." Lu Zhaoming smiled confidently.
To ensure everything went smoothly, Lu Zhaoming decided to split his forces into two groups.
He left Su Li and Bai Yu to guard the perimeter and provide support, while he led Xiao Dao and Xiao Cui to infiltrate through the underground passage.
"Remember, if things go wrong, retreat immediately and don't worry about me," Lu Zhaoming instructed.
Su Li rolled her eyes at him and said with a charming smile, "Don't worry, I don't want to be a widow for you."
Upon entering the underground passage, Lu Zhaoming immediately activated the "time delay" function.
This is a new skill he unlocked after upgrading his system, which allows him to sense changes in the flow of time around him, thus avoiding danger.
The passage was filled with various traps, some of which were trigger-activated landmines, and others were laser beams hidden in the shadows. A slight mistake could lead to instant death.
But with the help of "time delay", Lu Zhaoming can always discover and avoid these traps one step ahead, which is almost like having a cheat code.
"Holy crap, what kind of cutting-edge technology is this? Brother Lu, you're amazing!" Xiao Dao was dumbfounded and couldn't help but swear.
"Calm down, this is nothing." Lu Zhaoming smiled and didn't explain further.
However, just as they were about to reach the end of the passage, a figure suddenly appeared in front of them.
“I knew you’d come,” Shi Hu said coldly, a mocking smile on his face. “You think you could sneak in unnoticed? You’re too naive.”
"Holy crap, how did they manage to find out?!" Xiao Dao exclaimed in surprise, immediately assuming a fighting stance.
"Looks like you've been lying in wait here for a long time," Lu Zhaoming said coldly, narrowing his eyes.
"Of course, we've made ample preparations to deal with you." Shi Hu grinned maliciously and drew a huge battle sword from behind his back.
"Then let's try and see who the final winner is!" Lu Zhaoming showed no weakness, drew his Blade of Judgment, and launched the first attack.
The two instantly engaged in a fierce battle, their swords flashing and sparks flying.
Shi Hu was incredibly powerful; every strike he made carried the force to split mountains and shatter rocks, forcing Lu Zhaoming to barely parry.
"Brother Lu, I'm here to help you!" Xiao Dao shouted, brandishing his dagger as he charged forward.
"Don't come any closer! You're no match for him!" Lu Zhaoming quickly stopped him.
However, it was too late. Shi Hu kicked away the knife and slashed at Lu Zhaoming with his sword.
Lu Zhaoming quickly dodged to the side, but his arm was still slashed by the sword, and blood instantly stained his sleeve.
"Damn it, we've gone too far!" Lu Zhaoming cursed inwardly. He knew he couldn't continue to be passively beaten like this, or he would eventually be worn down and killed by Shi Hu.
Just then, Xiao Cui suddenly pointed to the top of the passage and shouted, "Brother Lu, look up there!"
Lu Zhaoming looked up and found that the structure at the top of the passage was very fragile, and it seemed that it would collapse with the slightest force.
"Got it!" Lu Zhaoming
He deliberately created an opening, luring Shi Hu closer to the top of the passage.
Seeing this, Shi Hu indeed fell for the trap and charged forward, brandishing his sword.
