Lu Zhaoming led his team cautiously into the lair of the Poison Scorpion organization.
A nauseating stench filled the air, and the surrounding walls were covered with twisted and bizarre symbols, like a group of menacing demons roaring silently.
"What kind of place is this..." Su Li covered her nose, her charming face full of disgust. "I'm telling you, are you sure this place is habitable? Is it some kind of cult's hideout?"
Lu Zhaoming ignored her complaints. He narrowed his eyes, activated the "Doomsday Judgment System," and began scanning the surrounding environment.
On the system interface, countless data streams scrolled wildly, eventually converging into one conclusion: these symbols were an ancient illusion seal.
"If I'm not mistaken, the white fox is nearby." Lu Zhaoming's voice was low, like a lurking cheetah, ready to pounce and strike at any moment.
As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding environment suddenly changed.
A dark blue light curtain, like a giant cage, instantly enveloped them.
The light flickered erratically, as if countless eyes were peering into the shadows, sending chills down one's spine.
"Holy crap, what's going on?" Su Li exclaimed, instinctively reaching for the pistol at her waist.
Xiao Cui was so frightened that her face turned pale, and she clung tightly to Lu Zhaoming's clothes, her body trembling.
Lu Zhaoming took a deep breath and tried to remain calm.
He knew they had fallen into an illusion.
The scene before my eyes began to distort and deform, and the originally dilapidated ruins transformed into a bustling and prosperous city.
Skyscrapers stand side by side, traffic flows endlessly, and people's faces are filled with happy smiles; everything seems so beautiful and harmonious.
However, hidden within this beauty lies a deadly crisis.
Lu Zhaoming saw that he was standing on the roof of a tall building, with a bottomless abyss below.
A familiar figure stood opposite him, a mocking smile on his face.
That was his former comrade-in-arms and his best brother—Li Ming.
"Lu Zhaoming, you're a piece of trash!" Li Ming's voice was icy cold, like a sharp knife piercing his heart. "If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have failed! If it weren't for you, she wouldn't have died!"
“No…it wasn’t me…” Lu Zhaoming clutched his head in anguish as memories flooded back.
Past failures and regrets weighed on him like huge rocks, making it hard for him to breathe.
He wanted to refute and explain, but found himself powerless to speak.
All sounds seemed stuck in his throat, unable to be uttered.
"Go to hell!" Li Ming roared and lunged at him.
Lu Zhaoming instinctively tried to dodge, but found that his body was as if nailed to the ground, unable to move.
He could only watch helplessly as Li Ming, filled with hatred, charged towards him.
"Bang!"
A gunshot shattered this suffocating illusion.
Lu Zhaoming suddenly woke up and found himself still standing in the ruins, with no change in the surrounding scenery.
"Huff...huff..." He was panting heavily, his forehead covered in cold sweat, as if he had just gone through a life-or-death battle.
"Are you alright?" Su Li asked with concern, a rare hint of worry showing on her charming face.
Lu Zhaoming shook his head, trying to calm himself down.
He knew it was just an illusion, but the experience he had just had left him feeling uneasy.
“This white fox is really something…” Lu Zhaoming said in a low voice, narrowing his eyes.
He activated the "Doomsday Judgment System" again, this time focusing all his energy on the "Resource Analysis" function.
He wanted to find the flaws in the illusion and completely break free from the white fox's control.
Countless streams of data flashed past his eyes, as if he had transformed into a supercomputer, frantically analyzing everything around him.
As time passed, Lu Zhaoming's face grew paler and paler.
Suddenly, his
"Found it!" he muttered to himself. "White Fox, your tricks end here."
He took a deep breath, slowly raised his right hand, and a dazzling light emanated from his palm.
That was the prototype of the "Eye of Judgment," a power capable of discerning the truth and seeing through all falsehood.
Wherever the light passed, the illusion began to collapse and crumble.
Those distorted and bizarre symbols vanished as quickly as if burned by flames.
The surrounding scenery returned to normal. The dilapidated ruins reappeared before their eyes.
At the same time, a petite figure slowly emerged from the darkness.
It was a woman dressed in white leather armor, with a silver mask covering her face, revealing only a pair of cold eyes.
"Lu Zhaoming, you do have some skill." The woman's voice was cold and hoarse, like a venomous snake's tongue, sending chills down one's spine. "However, do you think you can escape like this? I have laid a trap, and today, none of you will leave alive."
She slowly raised her right hand and snapped her fingers.
In an instant, countless dark figures surged toward them from all directions.
"Kill!" the woman coldly uttered a single word.
The dark figures, like a pack of bloodthirsty beasts, let out chilling roars and pounced on Lu Zhaoming and his companions.
Lu Zhaoming drew his Blade of Judgment, ready to fight.
Just then, a figure suddenly rushed out from the group and blocked Lu Zhaoming's way.
She was a young girl, who looked only fifteen or sixteen years old. Her face was still childish, but her eyes were filled with fear and hesitation.
