Chapter 64 Horrifying Ruins

Deep within the ruins, a low, sickening mechanical roar echoed, as if some slumbering behemoth was about to awaken.

Lu Zhaoming's heart was in his throat. It felt like the night before a final exam, when he hadn't reviewed anything but still had to grit his teeth and go to the exam hall.

"Be careful, everyone, don't let anything go wrong," Lu Zhaoming said in a low voice, calling out to the team behind him.

He activated the "Doomsday Judgment System," his eyes scanning the surrounding environment as if they were equipped with X-rays.

The mottled walls were covered with a complex network of energy pipes, resembling twisted blood vessels in the human body, which was enough to make one's scalp tingle.

"This place... was once a secret laboratory before the nuclear war." Old Sha's voice trembled slightly, clearly shocked by the scene before him. "It is said that the insane 'purification plan' started here."

Lu Zhaoming frowned, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.

"That old bastard Poison Scorpion detonated the bomb and sealed off the entrance just to cover up these incriminating facts?"

"Damn it, these scumbags!" Xiao Cui couldn't help but spit out, clearly disgusted by the name "Purification Project".

The group cautiously crept into an abandoned control room, where the air was filled with the smell of decay and blood.

Lu Zhaoming found a partially destroyed terminal device among a pile of scrap metal.

"Let's try anything, even if it's a dead end," Lu Zhaoming muttered to himself, activating the system's analysis function.

The screen flickered a few times, displayed a bunch of gibberish, and finally showed a portion of the data.

"Damn, there really is something!" Lu Zhaoming's eyes lit up as he pointed to a red dot on the screen and said, "There's a secret laboratory operating somewhere nearby!"

"This could be the key to stopping more human experimentation," Lu Zhaoming said firmly, as if he could already see those inhumane experimental scenes.

“But…” A hint of worry appeared on Su Li’s charming face, “If Scorpion has already informed his mastermind, wouldn’t we be in even greater danger if we act rashly?”

"Fortune favors the bold, right, Miss Su?" Lu Zhaoming grinned, revealing a set of pearly white teeth. "Besides, even if they want to play dirty tricks, they'll have to ask me, Lu Zhaoming, for permission first!"

Just as they were preparing to evacuate and revise their plans, a piercing alarm suddenly sounded inside the ruins, and red lights flashed wildly, making them feel as if they were in hell.

"Oh no! We've been exposed!" Old Sha exclaimed, his face turning deathly pale.

Immediately afterwards, a large number of armed guards poured in from all directions. They were carrying various high-tech weapons and had a cold, murderous look on their faces. They were clearly not good people.

"They came so fast!" Lu Zhaoming spat and quickly activated the "time delay" function.

In his eyes, everything around him slowed down; the trajectories of bullets and the movements of enemies became clearly visible.

"Stay close to me, don't fall behind!" Lu Zhaoming shouted, leading his team like eels weaving through a hail of bullets.

The "Blade of Judgment" in his hand was no joke either; each swing accurately struck the enemy's vital points, instantly taking down several pursuers.

"Who...who sent these people?" Xiao Cui asked, her voice trembling, as she followed closely behind Lu Zhaoming.

"It should be the mastermind behind the Scorpion—the White Robe," Lu Zhaoming replied coldly.

"White robes?" Old Sha gasped, his face turning even more grim. "They are one of the most mysterious and powerful forces in this wasteland!"

"Who cares about white robes or black robes? If they dare to mess with me, I'll make sure they regret it!" Lu Zhaoming said domineeringly, not taking the so-called "white robes" seriously at all.

The team hid in a closed storage room, cautiously observing the situation outside through the crack in the door.

A burly man with a hideous scar on his face was directing the armed guards to search the area.

"It's Black Wolf!" Old Sha said in a low voice, his voice filled with terror. "He...he's White Robe's most capable henchman, ruthless and cunning as a fox!"

“Black Wolf?” Lu Zhaoming’s lips curled into a cold smile. “No matter how cunning the fox is, it can’t escape the hunter’s gun.”

He secretly adjusted the "Doomsday Judgment System" and began to deduce the Black Wolf's behavior patterns.

As time passed, Lu Zhaoming's gaze grew sharper and sharper.

"Found it!" he whispered, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

“There is a tiny loophole in Black Wolf’s patrol route. We can use this opportunity to break through their encirclement.”

Seeing Lu Zhaoming's confident demeanor, Su Li felt a little more at ease.

“What should we do next?” she asked softly.

Lu Zhaoming smiled mysteriously, pointed to a door on the other side of the storage room, and said meaningfully, "If you want to escape, you have to... find another way!"

Just then, Black Wolf's voice came from outside: "Search carefully! Dig three feet into the ground and find them!" Outside the storage room, Black Wolf's howl was like a death knell, striking everyone's nerves again and again.

Lu Zhaoming, however, remained calm and composed, a playful smile playing on his lips.

"What are you all standing there for? Let's tear this place apart!" Lu Zhaoming gave the order, grabbed an iron bar, and smashed it against the door on the other side of the storage room.

Although Xiao Cui was scared, she mustered up her courage when she thought of Tie Niu's tragic death and joined the demolition team.

Old Sha and Su Li exchanged a glance, then rolled up their sleeves and began to help.
