Chapter 8: Undercurrents and Cleverly Breaking the Trap

Lu Zhaoming stood at the entrance of the abandoned warehouse. Sunlight streamed through the dilapidated skylight, casting dappled shadows on the mottled ground.

A faint smell of dust filled the air, mixed with an unsettling metallic odor.

The cold laugh he gave after receiving the letter still echoed in his ears. This time, he was determined to go to Qin Wan'er's house in person and give her a "surprise".

"Someone, prepare the car! Destination: Warehouse Zone 3!" Lu Zhaoming's tone was tinged with excitement, as if a hunter had caught the scent of his prey.

He strode towards the warehouse, already having a plan in mind.

The warehouse was dark and damp, with mottled marks on the walls bearing witness to the erosion of time.

Lu Zhaoming was convinced that Qin Wan'er had set a trap, but he did not panic. Instead, he activated his "Doomsday Judgment System".

The system interface flickered with a faint blue light, scanning the entire warehouse and instantly displaying the locations of all traps and hidden explosives in his mind.

"Hmph, Qin Wan'er, you think you can trap me with your little tricks?" Lu Zhaoming sneered, secretly plotting in his heart.

He skillfully navigated around one explosive device after another, his steps steady and firm, as if he were strolling leisurely.

Just then, a cacophony of footsteps and low shouts came from outside the warehouse.

Lu Zhaoming turned his head slightly and saw through the crack in the door that Zhou Hu was leading a group of his men and approaching rapidly.

Clearly, Zhou Hu planned to take advantage of Qin Wan'er's trap to seize the password chip in the safe house in one fell swoop.

"Qin Wan'er, you woman, you're really quite cunning." Lu Zhaoming sneered as he listened to the communication between Zhou Hu and Qin Wan'er through the system, learning that they had already cooperated.

However, at this critical moment, Zhou Hu's men inadvertently triggered a trap set by Qin Wan'er, resulting in a violent explosion and flames shooting into the sky.

Several of Zhou Hu's men died on the spot, and the others fell to the ground screaming.

Zhou Hu was furious and shouted angrily, but in the end he had no choice but to retreat temporarily and regroup his troops.

Lu Zhaoming overheard all of this through the system and secretly felt smug.

He understood that the alliance between Qin Wan'er and Zhou Hu had broken down, and the situation would become even more complicated.

He hid in the shadows, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

A moment later, Lu Zhaoming pretended to be injured, deliberately revealing his whereabouts.

He knew that Liu Yan, as a seasoned assassin, would never let go of any opportunity to assassinate.

Sure enough, not long after, Liu Yan appeared at the other end of the warehouse. Her eyes were cold and ruthless, as if she already regarded Lu Zhaoming as her own.

"They're here? Then come on." Lu Zhaoming chuckled inwardly, pretending to catch his breath as he slowly backed away.

Seeing this, Liu Yan curled her lips into a cold smile and approached him step by step.

Just as Liu Yan was about to succeed, Lu Zhaoming suddenly activated the newly unlocked "Psionic Analysis Module" of the system.

A flash of blue light appeared in his eyes, instantly disrupting Liu Yan's ability.

Liu Yan suddenly felt a wave of weakness, and her movements became much slower.

Lu Zhaoming seized the opportunity and knocked her to the ground with a swift leg strike, then quickly subdued her.

"Heh heh, woman, you didn't lose unjustly this time." Lu Zhaoming stared coldly at Liu Yan and found an identity token on her body.

This token will be key to his infiltration of Zhou Hu's camp.

As night fell, the temperature inside the warehouse gradually dropped, and a chilling cold filled the air.

Using Liu Yan's identity token, Lu Zhaoming successfully infiltrated Zhou Hu's camp.

The camp was brightly lit and bustling with activity, clearly indicating that Zhou Hu was making final preparations.

Lu Zhaoming infiltrated deep into the camp and finally found the safe containing the password chip.

He carefully opened the safe, took out the chip, and gently put it into his pocket.

After completing the mission, he did not rush to leave, but deliberately left a false message claiming that the safe house's password had been cracked and the entrance would be open within 24 hours.

"Hmph, Qin Wan'er, you scheming bitch, let's see how you deal with this now." Lu Zhaoming sneered and quickly withdrew from Zhou Hu's camp.

Back in the abandoned warehouse, Lu Zhaoming pocketed the chip and secretly plotted his next move.

Upon receiving the news, Qin Wan'er indeed fell into extreme anxiety.

In order to seize the initiative, she ordered a full-scale attack on the safe house, unaware that this was Lu Zhaoming's plan to lure the tiger away from the mountain.

Just as Lu Zhaoming was about to return to the safe house, the system suddenly issued a notification: "Hostile forces have been detected approaching the safe house. Please prepare for defense."

Lu Zhaoming's lips curled up slightly. "Qin Wan'er, this time, I won't give you any more chances!" He took a deep breath, faced the night, and took a firm step forward.

Just as Lu Zhaoming was about to return to the safe house to figure out how to deal with Qin Wan'er, this seemingly innocent but actually naive girl, the system's cold, mechanical electronic voice suddenly exploded in his mind: "Abnormal energy accumulation detected. Please be aware of potential threats." What the heck is going on now?

Lu Zhaoming muttered to himself, "This damn system is just causing me trouble every day."

He turned around impatiently and saw that the sky in the distance, which was already gray, was now covered with an eerie purple light, resembling the apocalyptic scene in some low-quality science fiction movie.

The purple light was eerie and strange, like a giant octopus tentacles writhing wildly in the air, making him feel uneasy.

There was a strange, indescribable smell in the air, somewhat like ozone, and somewhat like burnt plastic; in short, it was very unpleasant to smell.

At the same time, a low buzzing sound came from afar, growing louder and louder as it approached, making his eardrums ring, as if hundreds of bees were holding a concert in his head.

Lu Zhaoming subconsciously touched the laser gun at his waist. A chill ran from his fingertips throughout his body, causing him to shiver involuntarily.

He squinted, trying to see what was happening in the distance, but the damn purple light was too blinding, making it impossible for him to see anything clearly.

Suddenly, he felt the ground begin to tremble slightly, and the tremors grew stronger and stronger, as if some enormous creature was approaching.

"What the hell... could it be Godzilla?" Lu Zhaoming couldn't help but mutter, a sense of foreboding suddenly rising in his heart.

Just then, a cold voice rang out behind him: "It seems someone got here before us."
