Chapter 20: Suspicion

Qin Qing was quite surprised by the leader's order. After all, it was only the fifth day of the apocalypse. Even if there were those worried about food shortages, they would basically go back home and collect their own supplies! Moreover, in this age of everyone staying at home, few people didn't store some food at home, so there was absolutely no desire to store food together and then have someone arrange for its distribution.

They usually stayed home, waiting for government aid. At the time, I shared everyone else's belief that the country wouldn't abandon us. But as food dwindled and rescue efforts became increasingly scarce, despair crept in.

This practice of collecting and distributing supplies didn't begin until almost a month into the apocalypse. The strong gathered together and forced everyone to hand over their supplies. Those who refused were beaten to death and thrown into the hands of the zombies. Some, both young and old, were kept captive by these people and used as zombie guides.

At that time, Zhao Chunze believed that sooner or later they would be used as bait to lure zombies, so he secretly took himself away and escaped. Unexpectedly, he was caught by zombies on the way to escape, and his supernatural powers were activated.

"Fuck, who is so heartless? She took away all the vegetables and meat?" The skinny little man named Monkey screamed in surprise.

Following his cry, several other men also shouted: "Brother, it's the same here, we have no oil or rice!"

"I only have some snacks here. I don't see any instant noodles or anything like that."

Several men gathered together, holding a pile of snacks. The leader's face darkened, his brow furrowed. They weren't women who could survive on snacks. But he was filled with surprise and doubt. How could someone have gotten there before him? He had come up with this plan secretly, without sharing it with anyone in the group.

However, there is no guarantee that these people will not guess what I am thinking, otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?

He watched as people from another building in the complex lured all the zombies out of the supermarket. He was afraid they would return, so he waited several hours before cautiously bringing his men over to remove all the useful supplies from the supermarket. He never expected that someone would be able to do what he was planning and loot the supermarket clean of all the important supplies before he did.

Cao Guohua secretly hated himself for not arriving sooner, and he also worried that another group might have the same idea. He carefully looked around, fearing they were still inside the supermarket. He had originally been recruited to the community security team because of his sturdy build. He was also quite clever, so he had always done well in the community.

At the start of the apocalypse, he gathered his buddies who hadn't turned into zombies and roughly took control of the neighborhood. As the saying goes, heroes emerge in troubled times. He wasn't a hero, but there were always heroes who could be called heroes! Even if he had to wait for the government to come to his rescue, at least he would have the capital to talk to people.

Unexpectedly, someone else had the same idea. Cao Guohua waved his hand, signaling everyone to find a way to collect all the snacks and biscuits. Even if they couldn't fill their stomachs, it would always be enough to fill their stomachs.

Aside from the monkey muttering a little, everyone else silently turned around to collect useful supplies. After all, this situation only meant one thing: if the government didn't come, then the only thing they could rely on was the supplies they had collected themselves.

Qin Qing cautiously walked towards the exit, ignoring the monkey's angry curses. However, she felt a flicker of regret when she heard Cao Guohua's words. If the space hadn't been so full of space, she wouldn't have left those snacks and loose biscuits behind. After all, these things were top-notch supplies.

Inside the pharmacy, Li Xiong and Qian Bin felt as if their bodies were on fire. A black aura and a crimson aura swirled around their faces. Their clenched teeth caused the veins in their necks to bulge, their veins bulging. Sun Lili and Cheng Xinxin hugged each other tightly, trembling all over, watching the horrific scene with fear, but not daring to cry out loud.

Sun Lili, in particular, watched as Qian Bin's eyes bulged, bloodshot, and veins bulged across his forehead. His hands and feet struggled, as if he would attack at any moment. Her eyes were filled with sorrow and pain. He was the father of her child. If he truly became a zombie and broke free, would she protect her child, kill him, or die with him? Touching her swollen belly, she felt a torment.

Fortunately, Qin Qing had tied the rope again before leaving. I don't know how Qin Qing tied it, but the rope, which looked thin, was surprisingly strong. Li Xiong and Qian Bin had to work so hard, but the rope didn't loosen at all.

Cheng Chuan and the other two's faces also began to turn blue, the black in their eyes deepening, the red still very faint. It was nowhere near as intense as Li Xiong and Qian Bin's, but their minds gradually faded, as if they would turn into mindless zombies in the next moment.

Cheng Xinxin pursed her lips tightly. Although she hugged Sun Lili tightly, her eyes were fixed on Cheng Chuan. Seeing Cheng Chuan like this, she couldn't help but shout "Dad..."

When Cheng Chuan heard her shout, he looked up suddenly, a flash of clarity in his mind. His daughter was still young. If he died, what would happen to the child? Thinking of this, the red energy on his face intensified, entwining with the black energy, neither wanting to give in.

Zhou Shan and Wang Xiaobao had their faces covered with black air, saliva even flowed from the corners of their mouths, and their limbs were completely out of their control.

Qin Qing pulled up the shutter and squeezed through the crack as she saw Zhou Shan uttering a series of "Hehe" sounds. His eyes were rolling back, and a dark aura had spread to his neck. Her face darkened, and without even closing the shutter behind him, she stepped forward to investigate. She was surprised to discover that, given Zhou Shan's condition, he still had time to recover. If he hadn't fallen into a deep sleep and regained his supernatural powers upon awakening, he would have already become a zombie.

But now, it was clear that he was still thinking. Although his face was obscured by black air, he was still very sure that Zhou Shan had not mutated into a zombie. Qin Qing couldn't help but think of the well water in the space where he had given them energy to replenish their strength. He was slightly surprised. Could it be that the well water in this space not only replenished their strength? But also had the potential to resist the zombie virus?

She looked up at Li Xiong, Qian Bin, and Cheng Chuan. Although they were struggling, they seemed to be using their reason to endure and not let themselves scream. Without thinking, she pulled the mineral water bottle from her backpack, pinched Zhou Shan's mouth, and poured it into him desperately.
