Chapter 37 Survivors

Qin Qing's sleep was not restful at all and he woke up after just a few hours.

The sky outside was gray, as if the entire city was shrouded in a layer of fog. The sun had not yet risen, but it was no longer as dark as it had been the night before.

Qin Qing looked at the zombies scattered around in front of him, wandering aimlessly.

She carefully advanced slowly along the dark path, encountering a few zombies along the way, but they were still within her physical tolerance. When she reached the back door of her uncle's compound, she saw a zombie in a security uniform roaming around the iron railings at the back door.

Qin Qing stared at the zombie, its original form unrecognizable, and fell silent for a long moment. She still remembered how, back then, when she lived with her uncle, every time her aunt bullied her, this chubby, kindly smiling security guard would tell her to wait in the security room for her grandmother to return.

And the one left now is no longer the uncle she knew!

Gradually, daylight came up and the sun began to shine down on the security guard who had turned into a zombie. Just as the zombie was about to turn around, Qin Qing sneaked over and jumped up, chopping its neck with a clean and sharp knife.

It only had time to let out a hoarse roar from its throat before it fell to the ground and did not move anymore.

Qin Qing walked past the zombie with a blank expression, machete in hand. She only hoped that she wasn't too late and wouldn't have to kill her zombie-turned relatives again.

When Qin Qing arrived at his uncle's house and saw a pool of blood on the ground and the open door, his face finally changed color.

Before she rushed into the house, a female zombie with no flesh left on her body rushed out from inside. She opened her bloody mouth and raised her sharp arms to pounce on Qin Qing.

Qin Qing turned around to avoid it, then did a roundhouse kick, kicking the female zombie against the door opposite. He stabbed the machete in the back of the female zombie's head and nailed it in. Disgusting black mucus immediately flowed out of her wound. The female zombie howled for half a minute before slowly stopping struggling.

Looking at the woman's clothing, she didn't look like her aunt or Ye Shuxin. Qin Qing pulled out the machete that was stuck in the back of the zombie's head, then turned and went into his uncle's house.

The house was in a mess. In the middle of the living room lay a male corpse that had been bitten into rags. The man looked to be in his thirties, and no one knew what his relationship was with the female zombie.

Qin Qing didn't see any members of the Ye family, and he felt an indescribable feeling in his heart. He thought that perhaps his uncle and his family had been taken away by the troops sent from the base, just like in his previous life.

She searched everywhere and found that there was no food or water in the room. She thought that they had not turned into zombies, but had left on their own. Thinking of this, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Watching the sky outside slowly brighten up, Qin Qing opened the door and prepared to go to the school to look for the teacher. He didn't know if his uncle went to the school to look for Ye Shuxin, but that was also very possible.

However, Qin Qing didn't expect that his luck would be so bad. Not far from the university town, he encountered a group of zombies chasing a group of people.

However, this time, Qin Qing didn't help Li Xiong and the others as she had done last time. Li Xiong's rescue that time had taught her a great lesson. Seeing the panicked people, she swiftly dodged and hid in the shadows.

Carefully observing the dozen or so people rushing out of the school gate, they were obviously some boys from the school, and a few older teachers, none of whom she knew. Among these people, her uncle and Ye Shuxin were not present.

People were heard screaming and running aimlessly, with the zombies following closely behind them. The low growls coming out of their throats made the hairs on people's bodies stand on end.

Qin Qing glanced at the people being chased and blocked by zombies at the university gate, then turned to look at the path behind him. This path, following the wall, would lead to the student dormitory. Since they couldn't enter through the school gate, it looked like they would have to climb over the wall.

After walking about ten meters, she found a corner of the wall. Qin Qing thought for a moment, then took a few steps back. Then, with a light jump on the spot, she sprinted forward. Just as she was about to hit the wall, she jumped up with all her might, using the corner as leverage. Suddenly, she slammed slightly towards the top of the wall.

Qin Qing seized the opportunity to cling to the wall with both hands, allowing her suspended body to flip toward the wall, her entire body vaulting over the wall like a standing pole vault. As she landed, her left foot landed first, like a cat, her right foot taking the opportunity to absorb the impact of the fall, allowing her to land lightly.

Before Qin Qing could straighten herself up, she saw a head pop out from the teaching building diagonally across from the dormitory. The person shouted at her in a suppressed voice, "Hey, this way! Come in!"

Qin Qing didn't expect that he could meet survivors by climbing over the wall. He stopped walking towards Ye Shuxin's dormitory, thinking that Ye Shuxin and the teacher might be with this group of survivors.

When Qin Qing stood at the gate of the second floor of the teaching building, she saw the girl who had just stuck her head out and called her quickly open the door and pull her in.

"You are so awesome! I just saw you being like the knights in the books, able to fly over cliffs and walk on walls!" The girl who pulled her in had two big eyes on her chubby oval face, and at this moment her eyes were full of amazement and admiration.

Qin Qing, whose clothes were being pulled, silently exerted a little strength to rescue his clothes from the other party's clutches.

Before Qin Qing could reply, another man in the house stepped forward and pulled away the girl who had just pulled her clothes.

Then he looked Qin Qing up and down with wary eyes and asked, "Are you hurt?" with an interrogative attitude rather than a caring tone.

"Qin Qing...?" A person hiding in the corner of the classroom suddenly stood up and shouted at Qin Qing in disbelief and surprise.

Qin Qing looked up and saw that there were only eight people in the classroom. Five of them were men, and three were women. The person who called her was none other than her instructor, Lin Meiwen.

The boy who had questioned Qin Qing just now looked at Qin Qing suspiciously, then turned back and asked, "Teacher Lin, do you know her?"

"Yang Xiuguang, don't you recognize her? Qin Qing... I still remember asking her to send you some information." Lin Meiwen happily stepped forward, grabbed Qin Qing's hand, and said to the boy.

"Qin... Qing...?" Yang Xiuguang tilted his head, trying to recall. Then, a flash of sudden realization and confusion crossed his face as he said, "Are you the Qin Qing who was a good student but dropped out of school six months ago?"
