Chapter 163 Bar (2/2)

When he first came to Igwynte, Greg had hoped to live that kind of life through hard work, but when he came into contact with too many old men in the factory who had worked for five or ten years and found that they were still doing the same work as himself despite their sick bodies, he felt more and more desperate.

Gregor spent his first year in Igwinter in a state of despair and a heavy work that made him feel suffocated. During this time, he wanted to escape from this hellhole and go back to the village countless times, but when he thought about the fact that most of the fields in the village had been occupied, there was not much land left for him to cultivate. The hunting forest that his father relied on for a living was also bought by nearby land merchants and developed into exclusive hunting grounds for the rich and nobles. After he went there, he could do nothing but add burden to Aunt Hannah's family, so he could only grit his teeth and continue to hold on.

The turning point came two years ago. One night, after Gregor had finished his drink in the bar and was about to go to sleep in the large bunk bed room where thirty people were crammed into one, he heard a sharp cry for help.

Later, Gregor followed the cries for help to an alley, where he knocked down three kidnappers with his bare hands and rescued two girls. At first he thought they were just hooligans he usually met, but who knew that one of their leaders had a piece of paper stuck on his head after he knocked him down, and then he rushed towards him like a madman.

Gregor had never seen the gangster's speed and craziness before. If an ordinary person encountered such a thing, he would probably be killed easily. But fortunately, Gregor was not an ordinary person. He was born agile. He was agile enough to deal with wild beasts when he went hunting with his father when he was young, and he was agile enough to make the five children in the village run around in circles when fighting with other children in the village. After paying the price of eight wounds, he used a broken wine bottle and found the right opportunity to stab to death the extremely crazy and strong guy.

Afterwards, Gregor witnessed an incredible scene. He saw the gangster lying on the ground turned into a withered corpse within a few seconds.

Then, in the hospital, he was still in shock when he met unexpected visitors, a group of men in black.

They claimed to be official and belonged to an organization Gregor had never heard of, the Security Bureau. They took a fancy to Gregor's qualifications and invited him to join the hunter team. Afterwards, he found out that the three kidnappers were minions of an organization called the Red Communion, and they invited him to the Security Bureau to protect him.

After entering the Security Bureau, Gregor's life began to change dramatically. Not only was his work intensity much lighter than before, but he also received a salary that he would never dare to think about, 8 pounds a month. With this salary, he bid farewell to his previous pig-cage-like living conditions and moved to a fairly good apartment in the downtown area.

After that, Gregor thrived in the Igwynt Security Bureau. In just two years, he became the captain of the Hunter Squad, one of only four in the entire Igwyn County. Under the arrangement of the Bureau, he became a true Beyonder, and his monthly salary increased to 23 pounds.

After earning such a high income, Gregor immediately moved to a new house, moving his rental apartment from the downtown to the upper city, which was bigger, more spacious and brighter. Later, he realized his previous dream and brought his only relative, his sister, from the countryside, giving her the best education in the city and paving the way for her so that she would never walk the dark road he had experienced.

Gregor knew very well that he was able to get out of that path because of the accidental result of the wonderful combination of his natural talent and luck in his mind. Not everyone can have this. Moreover, during this process of combination, he almost lost his life several times.

Therefore, Gregor knew that his case was special and his sister could not be the same as him, so he prepared a smoother and brighter path for her, which was called the path of education.

Now Greg is satisfied that his sister Dorothy seems to be on the right track as he expected. However, his recent work has encountered unexpected difficulties.

The series of events and overtime work did not actually have much impact on him. For Greg, the worst that could happen was that he would just go back to his previous work and rest schedule, which would not last forever anyway.

But in a recent incident, Greg suffered a major blow.

It was a guard mission on Knight Road in the upper city. His team was attacked by an unexpected Beyonder. Three people were killed and five were injured, two of them seriously. More than half of the team was killed or wounded. This was the first time that Gregor's team had suffered such serious losses since he became the captain of the Hunters.

Although during the subsequent investigation and analysis, the Bureau concluded that the attacker was most likely a Black Rank, due to the huge difference in strength, Gregor did not bear the responsibility even though he suffered heavy losses. Instead, he was commended for forcing back the mysterious Black Rank Extraordinary with just a team of hunters.

However, as the captain, Grego, who encountered such a situation for the first time, could not accept the fact that more than half of the team members he had been with day and night were injured or died in one go. He began to blame himself and became depressed, and came to the bar more and more often.

Because of the Knight Road incident, Gregor's mood became a little unstable. Now he has to come here to have a couple of drinks to relieve stress almost every time before going home. It's not because he has begun to give up on himself, but because he is worried that if he goes home in a bad mood, he may not be able to control it and affect his sister Dorothy.

Sitting in front of the counter, Gregor shook off the ash of the cigarette in his hand and drank another glass of wine with a serious expression. At this moment, his mind was full of the night on Knight Road. The scene of his companions bleeding and struggling on the ground was still vivid in his mind. What he could not forget even more was the figure who was caught by him but managed to escape, the Extraordinary who was the instigator.

That night, Greg found him and wrote down his face. Greg swore that he would find out the details of the other party and catch him, even if he was from the Black Order.

Just as Greg was drinking in sorrow, the door of the bar opened and a short, bearded, vicious-looking man in his thirties or forties walked in.
