Chapter 397 Control (2/2)

“Eh? Miss Dorothea…are you asking Aka to call me again?”

In a spacious and bright cabin with simple decoration, Vanya, who was praying earnestly in front of a simple altar, suddenly opened her eyes, looked around and murmured.

"Normally, Miss Dorothea would only bother A-Ka to pass on her message when it was extremely urgent. In other words... is she in any crisis right now? It seems that Miss Dorothea is always easily in some kind of situation... After meeting her, the frequency of my involvement in such situations has also increased significantly..."

Vanya, wearing a white nun's uniform, stood up and adjusted her glasses. She thought to herself, looking back over the past six months, she had been involved in more things than in the past ten years combined, although her grades and rank were rising rapidly.

'Don't worry too much about it. If Miss Dorothea is in danger, she must be fighting against the cultists and the evil society again. I need to support her to the best of my ability.

"But if she asked me how big our ship is and how strong the guards are, I have to go out and confirm it..."

While thinking this, Vanya walked to the cabins, opened the door, and walked out of her cabin. Then she walked quickly along the simple corridor towards the deck. Along the way, she met a skinny ascetic monk who was also on a pilgrimage. After Vanya bowed slightly to them, she continued to walk forward and finally walked up a flight of stairs to the deck of her ship.

The whistling sea breeze blew against Vanya's white nun uniform, the symbol of a healing priest. Flocks of chirping seabirds were soaring in the sky. Vanya covered her nun's hat in the wind and looked around. A wide deck appeared in front of her. Outside the deck, in the distance on the sea, there were several fully armed escort warships.

On the vast ocean, three ordinary passenger ships were moving in formation, one in front and two behind. Around these three passenger ships was a circle of escort formations, consisting of two large and four small church warships, a total of six ships flying the Huiyang flag.

The two large warships that were standing side by side at the front of the fleet were nearly a hundred meters long and covered with thick armor from front to back. There were two twin main guns on the front and rear decks, and a row of smaller secondary guns on the side chords. Three thick chimneys spewed black smoke into the sky.

The bow of the ship was decorated with a statue of an angel holding a sword. Below the statue was an exaggeratedly large ram. Hanging on the ship were not only signal flags, but also pages of scriptures. The steel armor belt also had dense scriptures printed on it. Countless sailors in uniform were walking back and forth on the deck.

"Hmm... The Holy Order, which specializes in escorting pilgrims, assigned us a sea escort force... What exactly is it like? It's a bit of a headache to figure it out... If I ask too much, I might get suspicious..."

Looking at the circle of warships surrounding her ship, Vanya thought to herself with some distress, and then she decided to report what she saw to Dorothy first.

Conquer the sea, the White Pearl.

Under the gray sky, the huge ship was sailing westward. Under Costa's command, it was heading west towards the White Tears Island. More than 2,700 passengers on the ship were unknowingly heading towards a destination that did not belong to them while continuing to have fun.

In the cockpit, two sailors were sitting in their seats, chatting idly about which was more delicious: drinking human blood directly or after boiling it. After setting the sailing direction and fixing the rudder, they usually chose to kill time in various ways.

While they were chatting with each other, they heard footsteps in the distance. The two sailors immediately became alert and looked outside the door. Then they saw a big man named Bins who walked in with a serious face. He was their superior.

Seeing the first mate Bins, the two sailors immediately stood up to greet him. After seeing him, they nodded and then asked.

"Is there any problem with the current flight..."

"No problem. According to Mr. Costa's instructions, we will now head west to White Tears Island!"

The seaman answered the first mate's words seriously. After listening to the seaman's words, the first mate did not speak, but slowly walked to the front of the control room, looked around there, and fixed his eyes on the compass next to the rudder.

After carefully confirming the direction of the compass, the first mate frowned slightly, then turned around and shouted loudly to the two sailors.

"Is this heading west? Take a good look at this compass! See where the needle is pointing? Can you tell me where we are heading now?!"

With an angry look on his face, the first mate yelled at the two sailors. The two sailors were slightly stunned after hearing it, and then hurriedly ran to look at the compass installed next to the rudder. After confirming the pointer on it, they confirmed the current course of the ship, and then confirmed that the current ship was indeed heading west, but southwest. If they continued like this, they would never reach the White Tears Island!

"Uh...ah, sorry Mr. Binns! We were careless. We'll fix it now!"

"Hurry up! Hurry up before Mr. Costa comes to check on us. If we are delayed in going to White Tears Island because of this deviation, you will be in trouble!"

Seeing that the ship was heading in the wrong direction, the two sailors immediately hurried to correct the course. However, in a place they did not see, under the compass, inside the operating table, there was a flying insect crawling under the compass, and invisible electric current was flowing on its body.

On the other side, Dorothy sat in her cabin, drinking coffee while listening to the sounds in the cockpit. After taking a sip of coffee, she looked at the cloudy weather outside the window.

"Heh...you two are really careless guys. In this weather where there is no sun or stars, the only way to navigate is with a compass. If you don't strictly follow it to determine the direction, you won't be able to reach your destination."

Dorothy murmured as she raised her little hand to look at the arc of electricity dancing slightly between her fingertips.

Although she couldn't electrocute two Cretaceous creatures at once, she could still subtly control the magnetic field of an entire ship.
