Chapter 507: Possession (1/2)

Chapter 507: Possession

After a short rest in the station, the Desert Arrow train set off again. As the steam engine at the front of the train started, thick smoke gushed out of the chimney. The whole train moved forward in the humming sound and drove into the vast night.

The train moved forward quickly in the middle of the night so that it could reach the expected destination in the morning. On the entire train, except for the driver's cab and the engine room at the front of the train, people in other places had almost fallen into a deep sleep, except for a few people who were attentive.

In a train at midnight, the door of an empty carriage was suddenly opened, and a man in attendant uniform walked in from the door. After entering the empty carriage, he looked around, then turned around and closed the door of the carriages behind him.

After closing the door of the carriage, the attendant looked up at the ceiling of the carriage, then he reached out his hand and searched his body. First he found a mask and put it on his face, then he found a small piece of solid incense-like thing, and finally he found a small box of matches and a screwdriver.

After searching out these things, the attendant first threw the solid incense and matches onto the table in the carriage, then he took a screwdriver, raised his foot and stepped on a chair beside him so that he could stand on it, then he looked down at the corner of the ceiling of the carriage, where he found the vent of the carriage. After seeing the vent, the attendant stretched out his hand and used the screwdriver to remove the iron grille of the vent. The removal movement was very light, and with almost no sound, the attendant took down the grille of the vent and gently placed it on the table.

Then, the flight attendant picked up the solid incense and matchbox that had been prepared on the table, put the solid incense into the ventilation duct through the vent, took out a match from the matchbox and lit it, and then used the burning match to ignite the solid incense in the ventilation duct, letting it emit light smoke.

After seeing the smoke wafting from the solid incense, the attendant immediately bent down again, picked up the fence from the table, and reinstalled it on the vent. Then he searched his clothes and found a small silver coin and a talisman.

By consuming the spiritual energy stored in the silver coins, the flight attendant activated the talisman in his hand and successfully created a slight breeze. The flight attendant blew the breeze into the vent, blowing the light smoke from the burning solid incense in the vent further inside.

Blown by the breeze, the smoke went straight into the interior of the ventilation duct, and was then sent out from other vents along the way. Among the rooms connected to these vents was the room of Sister Vanya, the most "honorable" guest on this train.

Invisible, odorous smoke quietly escaped from the ventilation duct in Vanya's car, and Vanya, who was sleeping, inhaled the light smoke without realizing it. Then, after wrapping herself in the quilt, she fell into a deeper sleep.

After doing all this, the attendant got down from the chair, and after cleaning up the scene, he straightened his hat, opened the door of the carriage, and turned around to leave the scene.

Just like that, the Desert Arrow train continued to move forward in the darkness, as if nothing had happened, heading towards the final destination of its journey.

The moon sets, the stars fade, the dawn gradually rises, and a night passes quickly. With the rising and shining of the sun in the east, Kankedal Port welcomes a new day.

In the morning, the train station in Kankedal was bustling with activity. All the outsiders were cleared out, and the police and city guards occupied every important corner. On the edge of the wide platform, there was a group of people standing. Among them were a well-prepared orchestra, expectant musicians, and more were audiences from all walks of life in Kankedal.

This was the scene of the welcoming ceremony prepared to welcome the return of the special envoys. The ceremony was planned and held personally by Robert, the head of Kankedal. It was quite a grand ceremony, with over a thousand people attending in total. Most of the platform was almost full of people. Not only did Robert attend the welcoming ceremony in person, he also invited upper-class people and important figures from all fields in Kankedal to participate. These important figures arrived one after another early this morning, and the presence of some of them was a little surprising.

"Ah... why hasn't he come yet." On the platform, in front of the crowd, where some nobles and celebrities were standing, a fat young man with a plump figure, wearing a traditional Beiwu noble robe, various gold ornaments on his body, and a turban on his head was yawning. The empty iron wall in the distance complained, and after hearing what he said, a servant in servant's clothes next to this man said.

"Please wait a moment, Your Highness Prince Mazar. According to the time, the train will arrive in about ten minutes..."

"Ten minutes... There's still so much time left. Why don't we come out and stand there when they arrive, instead of waiting here?" The man called Mazar spoke in dissatisfaction after listening to the words of the servant beside him, and the servant immediately added.

"Your Highness, we are waiting for Sister Vanya's special train. She is an important figure appointed by the church to deal with our country's problems. We must show her enough respect. When Sister Vanya went to Addis, Prince Maad also came to see her off in person..."

"Sister Vanya... That little nun is actually nothing special except that she looks pretty... People at the party said that she is just a vase... She didn't achieve anything this time when she went to Adus and came back in disgrace. Uncle Wang is really something, why does he attach so much importance to this vase? He had to let me come as a representative to welcome her... If it weren't for this crappy event this morning, I would still be in Yan Meng's bed at the Nightingale Theater... hiccup..."

As he was speaking, Mazar burped and exhaled a breath of alcohol. The servant beside him was startled after hearing what Mazar said, and then he quickly said, "Wu."

"Shh... Your Highness, please be careful with your words. This is a public place. You are the prince of Baruch, so don't talk nonsense..." While looking at the city nobles who were looking at him not far away, the servant hurriedly nodded to Mazar to remind him, but Mazar continued to speak nonchalantly.

"Prince Baruch? What kind of prince is that... Didn't our Baruch die a long time ago? What's the point of being a king? Only Uncle Maad and his group are still thinking about restoring their country. The things we brought here are enough for us to have food and drink for several lifetimes, so why do we need to restore the country? I think we should give Adus to Shadi, and we can just live a rich and luxurious life in Kankedar. Anyway, in the past few months, I feel that Kankedar is much more fun than Dis. You can play with girls from all countries. It's not bad to stay here forever. Why do you always want to go back?"

Mazar spoke frankly without any taboos, and his words attracted strange glances from the audience who understood Northern Ukrainian. The servants beside him tried their best to persuade him to stop but were helpless.

As time passed by minute by minute, after nearly ten minutes, a long whistle sounded from the end of the railway in the distance. Everyone who heard the sound looked and saw a column of smoke slowly approaching in the distance, and under the column of smoke was the locomotive that was actually slowing down.

At this moment, outside the station, on the roof of a building, a female figure wearing an ordinary northern black robe, a headscarf and a veil on her face was standing there, staring at the slowing train on the railway not far away. Her eyes were fixed on a certain carriage of the long train.

When she saw the train was about to arrive at the station, the woman on the rooftop sat down slowly and closed her eyes. Then, under a strange force, a ghost that was exactly the same as the woman and that ordinary people could not see came out of her body and quickly floated away towards the train in the distance. Although the station was guarded by the city guards with extraordinary defensive capabilities, no one had noticed this soul. In this way, this ghost unknowingly drilled into the train, penetrated the body of the train, and drilled into one of the carriages.

After entering the carriage, the ghost saw Vanya still sleeping soundly on the bed. At this time, there was a knock on the door of Vanya's carriage, and an anxious voice was calling out from outside.
