Chapter 635: Rank (1/2)

Chapter 135 Rank

Tivian, on the east coast of the Kingdom of Prit.

It was mid-afternoon in Tivian, and the sky was drizzling. The huge city was shrouded in a hazy mist, and pedestrians holding umbrellas and walking silently could be seen everywhere on the wet and gray streets. The whole city was in a cold and quiet atmosphere.

On a street somewhere in the northern part of the city, in a small but elegantly decorated restaurant, Dorothy, wearing a black long coat and a narrow-brimmed round hat, was sitting here, drinking a cup of black tea leisurely. At the opposite table in front of her, a young man in a shirt and vest was sitting there, enjoying a fried cod. That was Greg.

"I originally thought that your study tour, Dorothy, would only take a few months, but I didn't expect you to stay for more than half a year. To be honest, I was quite worried about you staying abroad for such a long time. If you hadn't sent me telegrams continuously, I don't know how anxious I would be."

Gregor said this to his sister while eating fried cod. Dorothy, who was sitting opposite him, put down the teacup in her hand and spoke with a smile after hearing these words.

"We originally planned to come here in three or four months, but it's a long trip, and all kinds of accidents are always unpredictable, such as bad weather canceling the ship, and suddenly encountering an interesting attraction and having to change the itinerary... After a lot of these times, the entire trip time has gradually been extended."

"An accident? Haha... Speaking of an accident, not long after you set off, I saw the news in the newspaper that a ship had accidentally sunk. The destination of that ship happened to be the same as yours. I was really worried at the time. Fortunately, I received your telegram not long after." Gregor continued, and Dorothy showed a thoughtful look after seeing this, and then continued to respond.

"The ship sank. You mean the one involving the Shining Pearl? We were on another ship that time and were not on that sunken ship. But even if we were on it it wouldn't matter. Didn't the newspaper say that? Almost all the passengers were rescued by a church ship that happened to pass by. It's okay." Dorothy continued leisurely, while Gregor spoke after drinking a glass of water.

"Hmm... it seems so. If I remember correctly... the church fleet mentioned in the newspaper was a pilgrim. Oh, right! It seems that Sister Vanya Chafillon was in that fleet. Later, the pilgrims on that fleet were captured by the natives of the conquered islands at sea. In the end, it was Sister Vanya who persuaded them to resolve the crisis. Many places say that this was the beginning of Sister Vanya's path to sainthood."

Greg said "yes" in a sudden realization, and there seemed to be a hint of happiness in his tone. Dorothy tilted her head slightly after seeing it, and then continued to say "yes".

"Greg, you seem to be quite interested in the story of that nun..."

"Of course. Sister Vanya is the pride of our Pritt. She is a hot topic in the newspapers this year. Whenever there is news about her in the newspapers, people can be seen discussing her everywhere in Tivian. Unless Miss Adele has a special performance, few people can surpass Sister Vanya in popularity. Not long ago, after Sister Vanya passed away Tivian, I was planning to go and pay my respects to her, but unfortunately I couldn't spare the time due to work reasons.

"By the way, I remember that some of the cities that Sister Vanya visited, Dorothy, you have also visited, right? Have you ever seen her in person when you were traveling? Is she really as beautiful as the photos in the newspapers?" Greg asked Dorothy bluntly, and Dorothy continued to answer.

"No, I haven't. My itinerary in each city is very tight, so I don't have extra time to do other things. But hasn't the nun arrived in Tivian? Maybe I'll have a chance to see her someday."

"I see... So, Dorothy, how do you feel about your trip overall? You must have visited many countries in the past six months, while I haven't been abroad yet." Gregor picked up another piece of fried fish with a fork and said to Dorothy, while Dorothy continued to respond.

"It's a good experience. The food here is delicious. The people and scenery in many places are nice, especially the people. Every time I go to a place, I like to communicate with the locals with the translator to experience their culture. They often give me local specialty gifts, and sometimes I feel embarrassed to accept them. No matter where I go, I can gain something more or less. I still have some local 'friends' I met during my travels, and they have given me a lot of 'help'."

Dorothy said this with a meaningful smile, and Greg nodded repeatedly after hearing what Dorothy said.

"It's good to have gained something... Dorothy, it's rare for you to have such an opportunity to broaden your horizons at your age. Unlike your brother and I, we have never been abroad since we were young."

With a hint of self-mockery in his tone, Greg spoke slowly, and Dorothy responded softly.

"By the way, I haven't seen you, Greg, for half a year. How have you been doing lately? From what you just said, it seems like you've been very busy with work recently."

"Me? I've been busy lately, but I'm done with it now. By the way, I almost forgot to tell you, Dorothy, your brother is going to be promoted soon~" Gregor said to Dorothy with a smug look on his face and a smile on his lips. Dorothy couldn't help but show a hint of surprise in her eyes after hearing what he said.

"Promotion? I remember you've only been at Tivian Corporation for more than half a year, and you can get promoted already?" Dorothy said in surprise as she looked at Greg in front of her, while Greg continued to speak with a smile.

"Yes, my original boss was transferred due to some matters, so I was promoted to her original position. Dorothy, listen to me, your brother is now a manager-level figure in the company, and the youngest manager in the entire headquarters. It is rare for someone of my age to climb to this position in decades. Many people say that I am a genius."

After straightening his collar, Gregor looked at Dorothy and said "yes" in a rather proud manner. Dorothy listened and said "yes" while stroking her chin.

"A young man who only appears once in decades? Really amazing..."

As she spoke, Dorothy couldn't help but clap her hands softly.

After more than half a year, Dorothy finally met her brother again. After a welcome dinner hosted by Greg, Dorothy said goodbye to him again.
