Chapter 69: Hunger
"It's really troublesome to deal with these things, but fortunately, I finally got it done."
On the rooftop of a tall building, Dorothy was sitting on the ground, looking at a pile of maps and drawings in her hands and muttering that she had been squatting here for many days to monitor the situation of the Security Bureau in order to find out the situation. Every day she repeated the extremely boring groping work, and after the groping work was finished, she started the even more boring recording work.
By the end, Dorothy felt like her mentality was a little off, but fortunately she finally finished it.
Dorothy now, by monitoring the hidden exit of the Security Bureau and with the help of the super memory ability of the Knower, she has memorized the appearance information of most of the Igwinter Security Bureau members. Now... it is time to start the next step.
As Dorothy thought about this, she snapped her fingers. Then, several men came up from the stairs not far away, each carrying a long wooden box on his shoulders.
Dorothy controlled her human corpse dolls to walk in front of her, and then asked them to put down the long wooden boxes on their shoulders and arrange them neatly in a row.
Then, Dorothy controlled the corpses to take out crowbars and pry open the lids of the wooden boxes. Then, in the four wooden boxes, lying were four dogs of different sizes and breeds.
These were Edric's experimental subjects. Dorothy selected a large number of them and shipped them to Igwinter, and these dog corpses were one of them.
Dorothy breathed a sigh of relief as she looked at the dog corpses in front of her that had not decayed even after several months and looked as if they were sleeping peacefully. She then let the human corpse dolls lie down and released the control. She then consumed two additional points of "Activity" to strengthen the control limit of the corpse doll ring and pulled up all four dog corpses in one breath.
Under Dorothy's control, the dog corpse staggered to its feet from the wooden box, looked around, and walked in front of Dorothy.
Looking at the brand new corpse in front of her, Dorothy smiled slightly, then took out a paper bag from her clothes. After opening the paper bag, she found red powder inside. This was the "cup" of medicine that Dorothy had obtained from Clifford not long ago.
Dorothy stretched the powder in her hand forward, and then the four corpse dogs came over and began to sniff the powder. During this time, Dorothy consumed a little extra "Qi" to allow her to control and feel the dogs' precise sense of smell.
Afterwards, Dorothy rewrapped the powder and put it away. Then she controlled the four corpse dogs to go downstairs one by one, disguised as stray dogs, and scattered around the corners of the block.
"Well... now it's time to wait for you to get off work..."
Dorothy stood up on the roof of the building and murmured as she looked at the Cypress Building in front of her.
…
In the basement of the Cypress Fir Building, inside the Igwinter Security Bureau.
On the ceiling of the wide underground space, a huge gas chandelier emits a strange orange-yellow light, illuminating the dim basement. Under the light, more than a dozen staff members are busy coming and going. They are handling the clerical work of the extraordinary events of all sizes that occur every few days throughout Igwinter.
In a corner of a large underground space filled with shelves of sundries, a young man with gray-brown hair, wearing glasses and a gentle temperament was sitting at a desk, filling out a form with a pen with a focused expression. As he wrote, his expression seemed to become a little anxious and his brows began to frown.
"call……"
After taking a long breath, the young man named Brandon stopped writing the pen in his hand, rubbed his temple, and then touched his forehead, only to feel sweat all over his head.
Looking at the sweat in his hands, Brandon's brows frowned even more for a moment. Then, he glanced at the lights emitting bright orange and yellow light in the distance with the corner of his eyes, and a hint of disgust appeared in his eyes inadvertently.
"Hey...Brandon, the 'lights' in the east corridor have burned out, do you have any more?"
At this time, a slightly fat man in formal clothes came up to Brandon, patted the table and asked Brandon. After seeing the man, Brandon reluctantly spoke.
"This... I still have it. I just got it from the church not long ago. Wait here for a moment. I'll get it for you."
As he spoke, Brandon stood up and walked to an iron door behind him. He opened the door with the key on him, then walked in. Not long after, he came out again with a small box in his hand.
"Take it." After closing the iron door behind him, Brandon put the small box on the table and said. The dressed man in front of the table also picked up the box directly. Brandon looked up and asked.
"Joseph, I remember there was no 'light' in front of the east corridor. When was it installed?"
"Oh... that, Mr. James ordered it to be installed last week. In addition to this, he has ordered a few more. It is expected that there will be ones in the North Hall and the West Corridor. He is negotiating with the church about this matter, and it is estimated that it will be settled soon." The disguised man named Joseph said. After listening to his words, Brandon asked curiously.
"What is the purpose of Mr. James installing so many extra 'lights'? It's unnecessary..."
"Who knows... Anyway, he is the director, and it is not our turn to question any decision he makes. Okay, Brandon, I'm leaving first." As he spoke, Joseph took the box and walked away, leaving Brandon sitting in his original seat with a slightly gloomy look on his face.
Suddenly, Brandon's expression changed slightly, and his breathing became a little rapid. He stood up from his seat, then left his seat and walked to the corridor on the side.
"Ms. Bulma, I'm going to the bathroom for a moment. If anyone wants to see me, please ask them to wait for a moment."
"Okay, you go ahead, Brandon."
After greeting the people around him, Brandon continued to move forward. During this process, he inadvertently walked around the bright light in the middle of the underground hall to avoid getting too close.
After entering a relatively dark corridor, Brandon walked quickly and soon arrived at the door of a bathroom. He opened the door, walked in, and then closed the door.
After entering the bathroom, Brandon did not look for the toilet but went directly to the sink. He supported himself on the sink with his hands, looked at himself in the mirror, gasping for breath, with a distorted expression.
“Hoo…Hoo…Hoo…”
After taking a few breaths, Brandon stood in front of the sink, then took out a small cup and a test tube from his clothes. The test tube contained red powder.
Then, Brandon took out a cup and turned on the faucet on the sink to fill it with water. During this process, his hands began to tremble slightly and his breathing became more rapid.
Because of his shaking hands, Brandon's process of getting the water was not smooth. He knocked over the cup twice and wet his sleeves. After closing his eyes and calming himself for a while, he finally succeeded in getting the water the third time.
After turning off the faucet, Brandon placed the water he had finally collected on the sink, then opened the test tube and carefully and tremblingly began to shake the powder in the test tube into the clean water in the cup. After successfully shaking out some of the powder, Brandon plugged the mouth of the test tube again and put it in the clothes.
Then, Brandon suppressed his trembling and raised the cup of water steadily with both hands. The powder in the cup was dispersed and the whole cup of water took on a light red color. Finally, Brandon drank the water in the cup in his hand.
