Chapter 149: Bishuitang

Song Wanning turned her head to look at Lu Dejun's face, and said in surprise, "I think... today is the first time I've seen Mr. Lu."

Hearing this, Lu Dejun finally breathed a sigh of relief. He smiled at Song Wanning and said, "Not long after you left the mansion, I saw you one day wearing a bamboo hat and walking to a shop selling rouge. My mother asked me to buy some rouge that day, and I happened to see you. I was standing in the shop that day when I saw you go up to the attic. When you entered, a gust of wind blew your veil up, allowing me to see your face."

Lu Dejun chuckled as he spoke, "After that day, I thought about her day and night and couldn't forget her. It was a pity that I had always been a well-behaved person, so I didn't have the courage to go to her house directly. I was also conceited and thought I was handsome. I thought she had noticed me that day, so I wrote her some letters, but she never replied to any of them."

"Write a letter?" Song Wanning paused for a moment, then said in surprise, "I've never received any letters."

"Really?" Lu Dejun, now somewhat subhuman, looked at Song Wanning and said, "I think something went wrong with the messenger on the way. Now that it's done, I can only blame myself for not being brave enough. That's why there's no story at all."

Song Wanning couldn't comment now, so she could only respond with a polite smile. "This world is so big, and there are countless people who are destined to be together, but only a few can truly walk hand in hand. I receive my husband's kindness, and I hope that he can find someone to rely on and accompany him for the rest of his life."

Lu Dejun didn't expect Song Wanning to say such a thing. His brows relaxed and he smiled at Song Wanning, "Thank you, Madam, for your enlightenment today."

Song Wanning had just arrived at the door when she saw Yin Yichen already waiting beside the carriage. He was wearing a gold-sprinkled robe, which made him look even more elegant and refined. Yin Yichen was already handsome even without much attire, and now he was dressed up, attracting the attention of passersby.

When he saw Song Wanning coming out, he just smiled and walked up to her, taking her hand.

Seeing the Prime Minister coming, Lu Dejun hurriedly bowed to him and said slowly, "Your Excellency, Prime Minister."

Yin Yichen simply nodded and said to Song Wanning, "I'll take you home."

Song Wanning responded softly and got into the carriage with Yin Yichen, but the moment she got in, she saw Lu Dejun walking towards the house in a dejected manner.

Song Wanning and Yin Yichen sat in the carriage together. She looked at Yin Yichen and asked softly, "You actually went back home to change clothes before coming to pick me up today?"

As Song Wanning spoke, she noticed the jade pendant he was wearing and whispered, "I remember you don't usually wear this jade pendant."

"I suddenly remembered it today, so I hung it up." Yin Yichen's eyes flickered, and he held Song Wanning's hand and asked, "Did Lu Dejun of the Lu family say anything inappropriate to you?"

"No." Song Wanning chuckled and stared at Yin Yichen. "He said he wrote me a letter when I just divorced him. It's just strange that I couldn't find a single letter. Why do you think that is?"

Yin Yichen coughed lightly and said, "Maybe the messenger accidentally lost the letter. Since Wan Ning is married to me now, there is no need to worry about letters written to you by others."

"I didn't even know that the Prime Minister had secretly solved so many of my problems." Song Wanning looked at Yin Yichen's face and said lightly, "Knowing that I don't like reading letters, he intercepted all the letters."

"I..." Yin Yichen knew that he could no longer hide it, so he looked at Song Wanning and said, "Wanning, I did do this. How do you want to punish me?"

Song Wanning looked at Yin Yichen's expression. He always looked arrogant on weekdays, and it was rare for him to bow his head like this. This made Song Wanning unable to lose her temper.

Seeing this, Yin Yichen moved closer to Song Wanning and said in a low voice, "I knew you wouldn't be willing to punish me."

Before Song Wanning could say anything, Yin Yichen had already moved closer, pecked her lightly on the face, and said in a low voice, "Why do you have to cover your neck?"

"What do you think?"

Song Wanning raised her eyes and glared at Yin Yichen, but Yin Yichen had no sense of admitting his mistake. He chuckled twice and returned to the Prime Minister's Mansion with Song Wanning.

Lu Zijun, who had gone to find her mother, was being taught a lesson in the Lu Mansion.

Mrs. Lu sat on the chair, staring at her daughter, and said coldly, "Your father asked you to go and see her, why didn't you go?"

"Mother, I'm a girl, and if I go looking for someone to marry me, people will laugh their heads off if this gets out." Lu Zijun curled her lips, but she was too angry to say anything.

"You're seventeen and still unmarried. You've already disgraced your parents. And yet you're still thinking about going out to see a man. It's shameful." Madam Lu was now truly angry. She said with a cold face, "I've already told your father that you must go to see a man. Otherwise, our Shangshu Mansion will become the laughing stock of the entire capital."

Lu Zijun took a deep breath and said to her mother, Madam Lu, "Mother, I have a good idea now. I can find my ideal husband without visiting him in person."

"What's the solution? Tell me what you're going to do." Madam Lu was furious now. She said in a deep voice, "If I had known it would become like this, I would have let you marry into the Zhongping Marquis's mansion and marry Wen Tingxun. At least our family's reputation is saved. Now, our whole family has become a laughing stock. Those who should marry don't marry, and those who should take wives don't take wives."

Lu Zijun knew Madam Lu's temper, so she immediately sat down beside her and said coquettishly, "Mom, I heard there are many young men in the Bishui Hall now. Can you ask Dad to talk to the hall master and let me go in to study? Maybe I can find a perfect husband among them?"

"Your father insisted on sending you, but you refused to go, didn't you? Why have you changed your mind now?" Mrs. Lu felt the sun rise from the west and said in a deep voice, "What are you planning now? I'm telling you, if you don't plan to get married and want to delay, there's no way."

Lu Zijun kept acting like a spoiled child in front of Madam Lu, laughing out loud, "Mother, I really want to find a husband, please help me!"

Mrs. Lu really couldn't do anything with Lu Zijun now, so she said, "Okay, I'll talk to your father. Don't play tricks."
