Maitreya Buddha naturally disagreed upon hearing this and retorted, "Tathagata, you are the current Buddha of Lingshan, and this is where your protection is most needed. As for leading the Buddhas into Wanshou Mountain, this dangerous task should be left to me."
Although Maitreya Buddha smiles all day long, he will not give in when it comes to this important matter of becoming a saint.
"Lingshan has suffered heavy losses under my leadership. I am unworthy of being the Living Buddha. From today on, you, Maitreya, will be the Living Buddha."
As the Buddha Tathagata finished speaking, his entire space and time seemed to be rippled, as if he had flowed away from a certain period of time and space, from the present to the past.
The difference between him and Maitreya Buddha was that the figure beside him became more solid, and the Buddha's light on his body shone brightly!
"Tathagata, you actually gave up your current position as a Buddha!"
Maitreya Buddha looked at Tathagata Buddha in surprise.
The past, present and future are the three Buddhahoods.
Now the Buddha enjoys the most Buddhist fortune. Similarly, because of the blessing of this fortune, the Buddha is now the most powerful among the three Buddhas.
It is even rumored that both Tathagata Buddha and Emperor Haotian are most likely to achieve the status of saint by relying on the luck of Buddhism or Heaven.
But now, the Buddha Tathagata has simply given up this opportunity!

The Buddha was calm in his heart. The last time he listened to Kong Xuan's sermon in Uttarakuru, he understood one thing: it is impossible to become a saint by luck.
Even the saint Nuwa became a saint through merit. Where is the merit in Buddhism nowadays?

He only has luck but no merit. How can he become a saint?
He gave up his current Buddhahood, and Maitreya Buddha naturally became the current Buddha.
