Chapter 433: The Ending of Slaughter City?

An opportunity for redemption?

Bibi Dong pondered these words, a serious scrutiny in her eyes.

She originally thought that Ning Liu would choose to destroy this place directly, or simply incorporate it into the Glazed Heaven Sect as a gray force.

After all, this is the most common way of thinking among those in power.

"Atony?" Bibi Dong's voice was cold, yet it carried a profound understanding of the world.

"Sect Leader Ning, do you know why these people have come here?"

Without waiting for Ning Liu's reply, she raised her slender hand and casually pointed to a depraved man in the stands who looked like a madman.

Half of the man's body was covered with grayish-black mycelium, and with each breath, he would exhale clouds of colored spores from his mouth and nose, causing those around him to instinctively keep their distance.

“I recognize that person. Thirty years ago, he was the son of a farmer in a remote village in the Kingdom of Sylves. When his martial spirit awakened, it was a rare ‘plague fungus’.”

"Overnight, he lost control of his martial spirit, causing the crops in the whole village to wither and the livestock to die."

"He was treated as an ominous monster, abandoned by his parents, and driven into the deep mountains by the villagers with torches and stones."

Bibi Dong's gaze shifted to the other side, where a woman with a hunched back and her face hidden under a hood sat.

"And her, the daughter of a minor nobleman in the Kingdom of Barak."

"My martial spirit is 'Corpse-Eating Crow,' which is naturally drawn to death energy."

"Because he lingered in the family cemetery, he was regarded as an evil spirit who desecrated his ancestors, and was expelled from the family and exiled to the border."

"In order to survive, she had no choice but to keep company with corpses, and eventually she came here."

Her voice carried on, silencing Yue Guan, Xu Jiushi, and the others nearby.

These seemingly heinous and irredeemable degenerates have such a past.

People only look at the results, never ask the reasons.

Bibi Dong lowered her hand, her gaze returning to Ning Liu.

"Their martial spirit determines that from birth, it is difficult for them to be accepted by this world."

"The cruelty of the Killing City is a fact. But it is also a refuge, a place where all the 'outcasts' and 'monsters' on the continent can have food to eat, survive, and have something to strive for and order to live in."

There was no pity in her words, only a calm statement of facts.

As the Pope of the Spirit Hall, she had seen far more strange and unusual spirits than ordinary people could imagine.

She knew very well that the good or evil of a martial soul was often not something a soul master could choose.

A person who awakens the "Holy Light Angel" martial soul and a person who awakens the "Wraith Banner" martial soul will have completely different paths to take from the very beginning.

"If you destroy this place,"

Bibi Dong's tone became more forceful.

"These tens of thousands of Soul Masters, despised by the world, will flood into the continent like a raging flood."

"They have nowhere to go and nothing to eat. To survive, they will do things that are even more insane and utterly unscrupulous than they did in Killing City. That will be the real catastrophe."

The "King of Slaughter" continues his rampage, with the fallen welcoming their new king with the most fanatical fervor.

Unbeknownst to them, their new king was discussing their fate with the Pope of the Spirit Hall.

Ning Liu listened quietly without interrupting.

Bibi Dong's words struck him like a heavy hammer, hitting a ingrained belief of his.

He recalled the ending of the original novel, "Douluo Continent".

Tang San used a highly poisonous immortal herb to destroy the entire Slaughter City, and all evil vanished into thin air.

When I watched it, I felt a sense of great satisfaction and righteous indignation.

But now, standing here, after listening to Bibi E Dong's words, Ning Liu tasted a different meaning.

What happens after purification?

What about the fallen? They lost the source of their power, were driven from the killing capital, and then what?

What would a person who is used to solving problems with killing and is rejected by the world do when he returns unarmed to that world that rejected him?

Tang San destroyed a city, but he may have unleashed ten thousand roaming villains.

Is this really the optimal solution?

Ning Liu's gaze swept over the various figures in the stands, some with crazed eyes, others with numb ones.

Bibi Dong is right; indiscriminate destruction and purification are not good solutions. It's better to guide than to block.

Giving them an outlet for their emotions, while providing proper guidance and rules, might be the real solution to the problem.

"His Holiness the Pope is right."

Ning Liu nodded, acknowledging Bibi Dong's foresight.

Bibi Dong glanced at him with some surprise, not expecting him to accept her point of view so easily.

Ning Liu met her gaze and suddenly smiled again, a smile that carried a hint of cunning and a touch of confident amusement.

"However, the rules of the shelter should be changed."

He turned around, facing the entire boiling hellish killing field.

The deafening cheers seemed to be gripped by an invisible hand and instantly subsided the moment he turned around.

All the fallen held their breath, their gazes fixed on the boy in the center of the arena with a mixture of awe and anticipation.

They knew that new rules were about to be established.

Ning Liu cleared his throat, skillfully channeling his soul power to every corner.

"From today onwards, the Killing City will be renamed."

"From now on, this place will be called 'City of Freedom'."

"I, Ning Liu, am the first and only city lord here."

His voice was not loud, but it was firm and carried an unquestionable authority.
