Beneath that thick layer of ice, some blurry, unnatural markings can be vaguely seen.
Ning Liu stepped forward, extended his finger, and released a small amount of soul power.
The temperature at my fingertips rose sharply, and the new ice covering the surface melted rapidly, revealing a mottled ancient mural.
The murals are extremely simple and rustic in style, with simple and bold lines, yet they exude a sense of vastness and grandeur.
Shuibinger also came over, and the two of them looked at the mural together.
The image is not complex. At the very top, a blurry human figure is depicted, seemingly wearing a crown, looking down upon everything below. At his feet are countless kneeling figures, their expressions pious.
"This must be the God of Ice and His followers."
Shui Bing'er said softly, the snowflake mark between her brows resonating faintly as she gazed at it.
Ning Liu nodded, her gaze continuing to move downwards.
At the center of the mural is a huge heart pattern, with countless intricate patterns engraved on its surface.
Lines of energy extend from the heart, connecting every mountain and glacier in the painting, as if they were the source of power for this icy world.
“The Heart of Eternal Winter.” Ning Liu’s gaze sharpened slightly.
Beside this heart, a ferocious beast crouches.
The giant beast resembled a python, but had four wings, a single spiral horn on its head, and its entire body was covered with fine scales.
It lay there coiled up, its massive head resting on the "Heart of Eternal Winter," as if asleep, or perhaps guarding it.
In the corner of the mural, there are some small, word-like symbols.
The structure of these symbols is completely different from modern writing; they are more like a primitive pictographic totem.
Looking at these symbols, Shui Bing'er felt dizzy and couldn't understand their meaning at all.
Ning Liu, however, watched with great interest. His mental energy was completely absorbed in it, and his spiritual eye was operating at high speed, managing to extract a fragment of information from those distorted lines.
"...The cornerstone of the world...The embodiment of will...The eternal guardian...Those who are not of its bloodline will be punished by heaven..."
He pieced together these fragmented pieces of information in his mind, and a picture gradually became clear.
"It seems that our target this time is not just an inanimate object."
Ning Liu withdrew his gaze, his expression turning serious.
He pointed to the heart and the giant beast on the mural and explained to Shui Bing'er:
“This ‘Heart of Eternal Winter’ is probably not just a source of power; it may very well be a manifestation of this secret realm, or even a part of the will of the God of Ice. And this giant beast is its guardian; the two coexist.”
"To get it, you must first get past the guardian."
