"Niannian! Don't go alone!"
The boy's deep voice rang out, quickly reaching the ears of the little boy in front.
Hearing this, the little girl who had suddenly started running had no choice but to stop her short legs from kicking and turn to look at her prince brother behind her. Her sweet, childlike voice said, "Prince brother, the thing that controls these snakes is right ahead!"
What controls the snake?
Huo Chengche frowned and quickly followed, picking up the little baby from the ground and looking at the dark valley ahead.
"Niannian, don't worry, let's go in together." Huo Chengche first comforted the little one, but his gaze towards the valley narrowed almost imperceptibly.
"It's almost noon now, why is it so dark here?" Huo Chengche warily surveyed the eerie, dark forest, then looked at Tong Youlin who had followed him. "Was this valley always this dark?"
Tong Youlin was still terrified by the tiger and the black bear when the boy reminded him. He looked up and realized with surprise, "Yeah! Why is it so dark in the middle of the day? This forest wasn't like this before!"
"That's what's making the noise!" The little boy pointed his tiny hand into the valley and said in his childish voice.
The constables had never seen such a sinister and eerie scene before, and they were terrified, huddling together in fear.
Not only them, but even Tong Youlin, who had grown up at the foot of the mountain, felt a strange unease, looking around anxiously, seeing enemies everywhere.
Huo Chengche glanced at them, then shoved the little baby in his arms into the arms of the relatively reliable Tongyou Lin, saying, "You two wait here with Niannian, I'll take some people to take a look."
After saying that, he made a gesture and led the guards, with Gu Ran at the head, towards the valley ahead.
According to Tong Youlin, the valley was very large, and they built the altar inside it.
"This Crown Prince... he's really bold." Tong Youlin looked at the boy's steady back and, holding the little baby, clicked his tongue in amazement with the constables beside him.
The constables all glanced at him simultaneously—was this guy only just noticing?
"It's probably... protected by dragon energy," a yamen runner whispered.
No one noticed that the little baby, whom Huo Chengche had stuffed into Tongyou Lin's arms, suddenly poked half of his head out from his shoulder, his dark, watery eyes sparkling with mischievousness.
"Go."
A leisurely, casual voice came from behind.
Before Tong Youlin could react, the soft, docile little baby in his arms suddenly jumped out of his arms as soon as he turned his head.
? ! !
"Nian, Nian Nian?!" Tong Youlin was stunned for a moment before he realized what was happening and hurriedly called out.
But when I looked up again, the little pink and tender baby was nowhere to be seen. Even the tigers and the big black bear that were just there had vanished.
Tong Youlin was dumbfounded. He scratched his head and quickly turned around to look for the boy who had just spoken, but there was no one behind him.
"This...this..." Tong Youlin stood there dumbfounded, looking at the experienced constables with no idea what to do.
Sure enough, the constables glanced at him, and without even bothering to call out to him, they all waved their hands in unison, "Sit down and rest for a while."
Tongyou Lin:......
In the valley, Huo Chengche had already arrived at the altar, but he did not hear any sounds from outside.
This place is called an altar, but it's just a strange pattern made of stones, like a symbol.
The valley was almost pitch black. Huo Chengche, holding a torch, had just approached the pattern formed by the stones to take a closer look when suddenly a person jumped out from the side and came straight at him.
