The man quickly darted forward, dodging the ferocious shadow guard, shouting, "Hey, what are you doing? You're so impatient! I was just being sarcastic!"
"What, you want to talk now?" Emperor Chongjin toyed with the teacup in his hand and glanced at the person below.
The man chuckled shamelessly, "I'd like to say something, but you should let this big guy step aside first. I can't think properly with him here."
Emperor Chongjin lifted his eyelids, glanced disdainfully at the grinning man, and then glanced out of the corner of his eye at a little boy enjoying the Crown Prince's gentle coaxing.
The way this man spouted nonsense reminded him of a little dumpling; he could make up stories that sound plausible and reasonable.
Emperor Chongjin frowned, raised his hand to signal the shadow guards to return to their positions, and coldly glanced at the man, "Stop wasting time with your nonsense."
"I am Xuandi," the man said, a slight smile playing on his lips. His smile was wicked, but it seemed as if the playfulness vanished in an instant, replaced by an aura of malevolence that sent a chill down one's spine. Yet, upon closer inspection, he appeared nonchalant and carefree, as if the momentary display of power had been nothing more than an illusion.
The little baby's ears twitched when he heard the name "Xuandi," feeling it was very familiar. But even after thinking hard for a long time with his little finger in his mouth, he couldn't remember why it felt familiar.
Upon hearing this, Huo Chengche narrowed his eyes, his gaze sharpening as he swept his gaze directly at Xuan Di. After scrutinizing him, he gave Xuan Di a cool, ambiguous smile.
The latter was leisurely glancing at the little boy's silly reaction when he was suddenly startled by Huo Chengche's fierce aura.
He met Huo Chengche's ambiguous gaze and was slightly taken aback. He then frowned, looking rather wary.
Emperor Chongjin was startled by Xuandi's sudden aura and had to re-examine him seriously.
"Continue." Emperor Chongjin's voice was deep and solemn as he looked intently at Xuandi. "Your official position, family background, and in-laws in Chenghan Kingdom."
The sinister aura he had just displayed seemed like an illusion. In the blink of an eye, Xuan Di had put on a nonchalant, wicked smile again. "I am just an insignificant nobody. Your Majesty, you don't need to waste your time on me."
Huo Chengche coaxed the little boy who was begging for snacks, while saying coolly, "Your Excellency may not know, but the emperor of Chenghan Kingdom has the character 'Xuan' in his name. Don't you have to avoid using the emperor's name? You haven't been beheaded by your country yet, have you?"
Xuan Di's smug smile froze, then he coughed awkwardly before continuing to argue, "I was just a fish that slipped through the net!"
He said it with such pride, as if it were something very real.
Even the shadow guards behind him, who had been keeping a straight face, couldn't help but feel annoyed.
Huo Chengche glanced at Xuan Di, gave a cold laugh, and said sarcastically, "Then you must have a really bad reputation as a spy. Even your leader didn't remember to write you down when he was writing the assignment list."
There's another roster?
Xuan Di finally couldn't laugh anymore, his face darkening as he glared at Huo Chengche.
But the little dumpling in Huo Chengche's arms clapped his hands happily after hearing what his crown prince brother said, giggling and adding in a childish voice, "Big brother, don't be angry. Daddy said that we should be brave enough to face our own shortcomings. It's okay if you're not popular. Just reflect on yourself."
Xuan Di was so angry that he almost vomited blood when he heard the little boy keep saying "It's okay if my brother isn't popular." He wished he could pick up the little thing right away, gag him, and give him a good spanking.
