The little dumpling swallowed hard, his bright, sparkling eyes gleaming, and darted around among his "beloved concubines" on the table.
Then she swallowed hard, and finally, after some hesitation, pointed her chubby little finger at the plate with the crab meat pastries. Her bright eyes stared straight at Consort Shu, the light in them almost blinding in the dimly lit room.
Consort Shu was genuinely taken aback when she looked into the little baby's bright eyes. Why was this silly baby suddenly so excited?
When she followed the baby's chubby little finger to the table, she immediately understood what the little darling meant.
"Tsk tsk, a greedy little girl like you won't grow up to be a great beauty." Consort Shu teased her with a smile, but still went along with her wishes and gave her a small pastry—the smallest one.
Seeing the little one's eyes being drawn to the pastry in her hand, Consort Shu chuckled and moved the pastry away, finally getting the baby to look at her. She tapped the little glutton's nose and said, "After you finish this pastry, you have to answer Consort Shu's questions obediently."
The little boy's dark, bright eyes secretly glanced at Shu.
