“It was clearly Niannian who was sitting on the wall and saw that the tree branch was too low, so she helped her aunt to hold the branch up. Then her aunt got angry. Niannian told her aunt several times that she just wanted to help her aunt to hold the branch up. Her aunt clearly heard her, but she still insisted that Niannian was ill-mannered!”
The little dumpling pouted, complaining in a childish voice, and wrapped his arms around Emperor Chongjin's neck. His dark eyes were filled with tears; he looked so wronged.
"Your Majesty, no, it's not..." Mu Wanji's face turned pale. She never dreamed that a three-year-old child could explain things clearly and make perfect sense.
In just a few words, he explained everything that had just happened, leaving Mu Wanji with no way to refute him.
Emperor Chongjin had never believed Mu Wanji's words to begin with, and after hearing the little boy recount Mu Wanji's vicious actions, he was even more furious. He looked at Mu Wanji with disgust and said sternly, "Shut up! What else do you have to say?"
Mu Wanji, pale-faced and flustered, knelt down with a thud, tears streaming down her face. She shook her head repeatedly and sobbed, "No, no! Your Majesty, you can't listen to a child's nonsense!"
"Nonsense?" Emperor Chongjin laughed in fury, and in his rage, he slapped Mu Wanji across the mouth. "I think you're the one spouting nonsense!"
Mu Wanji's words did indeed awaken Emperor Chongjin.
Emperor Chongjin narrowed his eyes, his anger flaring. "Are you just trying to bully a child who can't speak clearly? You've framed him, so he can only spout nonsense and can't even speak properly?! Mu Shi, you can even bully and exploit a child like this, it's utterly disgusting!"
Mu Wanji was knocked to the ground with a single blow. At that moment, she truly felt Emperor Chongjin's fury.
She covered her face in terror, trembling all over, looking at the adorable little baby, already filled with regret.
Zhuang You coldly stared at the trembling Mu Wanji, her eyes filled with icy indifference.
"Your Majesty must have heard it too. Consort Wanji kept calling her an ill-mannered bastard and a lowly child. My little princess meant well, and it's one thing if she doesn't thank me, but she's hurling insults at me like this. I beg Your Majesty to uphold justice for our little princess."
Zhuangyou stepped forward and curtsied.
A little princess?!
This time, Mu Wanji clearly heard Zhuangyou's address for the little baby.
She opened her eyes wide in shock, staring blankly at the chubby little pink dumpling in Emperor Chongjin's arms, her pupils instantly shrinking.
"Your Majesty, please forgive me! I did not know that this was Princess Fuying! If I had known, I would never have dared to be negligent!"
Mu Wanji's face turned deathly pale instantly. She scrambled to Emperor Chongjin's feet, weeping bitterly, but her previous arrogant demeanor was completely gone.
Little did she know that her current appearance reminded Emperor Chongjin of her arrogant and ugly demeanor just moments before, as well as the words she had spoken to Zhuangyou.
Emperor Chongjin looked at Mu Wanji with disgust and kicked her away. "So opportunistic and swayed by the wind, is such behavior worthy of my position as a concubine?"
"No, no!" Mu Wanji shook her head in terror.
Emperor Chongjin didn't want to hear another word from her. He sternly and in a deep voice issued an edict: "Consort Wan, of the Mu clan, has committed a breach of virtue. She is demoted to the lowest rank of the lowest-ranking official, and moved to a humble dwelling. She is forbidden from serving you!"
"Godfather, where is the Humble Abode? Is it fun?" The little boy asked earnestly as soon as Emperor Chongjin finished speaking.
The soft, innocent voice of the little girl contrasted sharply with the powerful and furious voice of Emperor Chongjin.
