With a pained expression, Duke Zhongwu pulled the little baby close and whispered, "Niannian, your uncle is one of us! If you ever need anything, just ask your uncle for help! Let's not fight amongst ourselves!"
The little boy blinked, looked at the chubby, white uncle he had never seen before, tilted his head and asked, "Really? How come Niannian didn't know?"
"Really, really!" Duke Zhongwu nodded vigorously to show his loyalty. "Before you came to the capital, your fourth brother wrote me a letter in his own hand, asking me to take good care of you. If you don't believe me, wait for me to go and get your fourth brother's letter."
The little boy looked at Duke Zhongwu, pouted, and proudly pulled out his two hands, sniffing each one.
It does indeed have the faint scent of snow that Fourth Brother carries.
Seeing the little girl's movements, Duke Zhongwu immediately felt much more confident. He smiled and leaned over, pulling her into his arms and whispering to her:
"Rao Rao is spoiled by her mother. I'll scold her later, but let's not tell your father, okay? Tomorrow I'll take you to the estate! Lions, tigers, black bears... everything you could want!"
The little boy glanced at Duke Zhongwu, his dark eyes darting around, clearly showing his interest.
However, the proud little dumpling still gave a reserved hum, then said in a serious and fierce tone, "It's okay if Niannian doesn't tattle, but Sister Rao Rao has to apologize to Sister Wen Lian and Sister Chang Yin! Apologize sincerely."
The little dumpling added a sentence with emphasis.
"Of course!" Duke Zhongwu immediately agreed. "That's exactly what should be done! I have guests at my house today and don't have time to discipline her. But once the guests have left, I will definitely explain to her what she did wrong and bring her back to apologize!"
Seeing the Duke of Zhongwu's serious expression, the little boy finally pouted and said in his childish voice, "Okay! Then Niannian forgives you!"
Then, the little dumpling's eyes sparkled, and she excitedly whispered, "When will Uncle come to take Niannian out to play tomorrow? We want Sister Wenlian and Changyin to come too!"
Duke Zhongwu breathed a sigh of relief, looking at the little girl's excited expression, and smiled helplessly with a headache. He then quickly covered her little mouth and instructed, "Shh, Niannian, don't talk nonsense. If you say you're going out to play, it won't work!"
Upon hearing this, the little boy blinked fearfully, quickly lowered his voice, and asked in a soft, childlike voice, "Really? What should we do?"
Duke Zhongwu whispered, "Pretend Niannian doesn't know anything. Your uncle will find a way to pick her up and take her out to play tomorrow."
"Okay!" the little dumpling happily agreed.
Just then, a cheerful shout rang out. The little boy peeked out from behind the chubby uncle and saw that Zhuo Wenshan had just hit an arrow!
"Brother Wenshan is so awesome!" the little boy shouted sweetly.
With the threat of his entire family being wiped out gone, Duke Zhongwu felt a great sense of relief. He glanced at his son, who had only been hit by two arrows, clicked his tongue twice, and patted the back of his neck. "My good son, does your face hurt?"
Despite the gloating expression on his face as he offered such words of concern, Qin Zhouli snorted coldly and stubbornly said, "It's not that I'm at the same distance as before, so my aim is naturally affected! If we were back, I would definitely win!"
"Is that so?" Duke Zhongwu looked at his son's stubborn and defiant appearance, smiled coolly, and picked up the little boy. "Come here, Niannian, come over here and throw an arrow, let your older brother see."
As he spoke, Duke Zhongwu casually took a couple of steps while holding the little baby, then picked up a bamboo arrow and handed it to the baby.
