Xiao Wenlian screamed in fright and took a step back, bumping into Xiao Changyin. The two little ones fell on their bottoms, but since the grass on the mountain was thick, it didn't hurt.
But Xiao Changyin suddenly let out a scream, followed by a wail.
The little girl was used to these kinds of "small scenes," but when she heard Changyin cry, she became scared.
She quickly went over to help her "little sister" up, her baby voice filled with panic, "Little sister Changyin, what's wrong? Where does it hurt? Are you bleeding?"
The little boy asked anxiously, but Changyin seemed quite frightened, screaming and crying incessantly. However, when the little boy sniffed around his sister, he couldn't smell any blood.
The little dumpling sniffed carefully again, making sure her little sister wasn't hurt, and assumed she was just scared by the arrows. He comforted her in his sweet, childish voice, "Don't be afraid, little sister Changyin, Nian Nian and Pang Tuan Tuan are here! The arrows can't hit us!"
"Woof woof woof—"
Tiger Cub also shouted in agreement from the side.
The little baby's dark eyes gazed intently at the big tiger beside him.
Fat Tuan Tuan: "Awoo!"
"Hmph," the little dumpling finally withdrew his gaze with satisfaction and continued to comfort Changyin in his childish voice, not caring for who had just shot the arrow.
But Xiao Changyin cried incessantly in terror, clutching the little baby's sleeve tightly, her face turning bright red.
The little boy, holding his sister, could clearly sense her fear—an unusual kind of fear.
The little girl tilted her head, not understanding why Changyin was so scared. She comforted her younger sister in a childish voice, acting like a big sister.
The soft, sweet voice, filled with innocent confusion, earnestly enunciated each word, gradually easing the little girl's fear.
The little dumpling, its face streaked with tears, eyes and nose red, nestled in the tiger cub's fluffy chest fur, hugging the little dumpling's arm, listlessly sniffling.
"Whoosh—"
Another arrow suddenly shot over, but Fatty Tuantuan caught it in its mouth.
Looking around at the snakes, each one precisely hooked its tail with each incoming arrow, and only the occasional one that slipped through the net was caught by the fat snake.
After calming his little sister down, the little boy finally had time to deal with the arrows.
The sparse, short arrows were clearly fired from a crossbow, completely haphazard. To Zhan Yu, a seasoned warrior, it was nothing more than childish play.
The chubby little thing lazily licked its fur, showing no sign of fighting.
The little dumpling started rummaging through his chubby little body's fur, then shouted fiercely in the direction the arrows had come from, "Who's so annoying, shooting arrows randomly in the woods! Bad guy! Didn't you hear there's a baby here?!"
As the little boy's shout rang out, the whistling arrows paused for a moment, followed by the boy's voice, growing louder as he approached, "Go check! Did you hit it?"
No sooner had the little boy finished speaking than a series of disordered footsteps became clear.
Immediately afterwards, three or four servants emerged from the woods ahead. Upon seeing that there were large dogs, pythons, and tigers, they screamed in fright and scrambled back as fast as they could.
"Ah—Your Highness! Run! There's a tiger! And a giant python!"
Tiger Cub: "Woof woof woof—!"
Tiger Cub, who was not mentioned at all, let out an angry shout and stomped its paws in dissatisfaction.
