"Niannian?" Chen Zhixian was taken aback, staring blankly at the little baby, and couldn't help but raise her hand to gently touch her little face.
The soft, smooth texture, the moment the sensation traveled back to her fingertips, made Chen Zhixian burst into tears once again.
The little girl didn't know why her aunt was crying again, but she felt a strange unease in her heart. Seeing her aunt cry made her feel especially sad.
"Auntie, please don't cry," the little dumpling pouted, wrapped her arms around her auntie's neck, rubbed her fluffy little head against her shoulder, and said in a soft, muffled voice, "Auntie, it hurts my heart to see you cry."
Hearing that soft, sweet little voice, Chen Zhixian couldn't help but smile as she held the chubby little dumpling in her arms, but tears still streamed down her face.
She held the little bundle of joy in her arms as if it were a precious treasure, hugging it tightly, and cried for a long time, as if she had cried out all the tears she had accumulated over the years.
Finally, with the baby boy's sweet, comforting voice, Chen Zhixian managed to control her nearly collapsing emotions.
She raised her hand to wipe her reddened eyes, smiled apologetically at the little baby in her arms, and gently wiped away the tears that had fallen onto her face.
"I'm sorry, did I scare Xiao Niannian? Auntie was confused and mistook Xiao Niannian for someone else."
The little dumpling shook her head and said obediently, "Niannian won't be scared, but seeing Auntie cry makes Niannian feel sorry for her. Who is Auntie? Did Auntie mistake Niannian for that sixth princess?"
“Yes,” Chen Zhixian said, feeling a sudden urge to cry as she listened to the little boy’s sweet and soft voice, but she held back.
She smiled gently, and when she spoke of the Sixth Princess, her eyes were filled with sorrow and sadness. "Auntie is the Sixth Princess's mother. Little Niannian looks so much like Yingying. When Auntie saw Little Niannian, she thought she had come back to life."
The little girl looked at her aunt with a complicated expression, her eyes filled with doubt, but suddenly felt a pang of grief in her heart, as if she could feel her aunt's heartache at that moment.
"Auntie..." came a soft, childish voice.
Chen Zhixian snapped back to her senses.
Looking at the adorable little baby in front of her, she quickly composed herself, reached out and gently pinched the baby's cute little nose, and asked softly, "Whose child is Niannian? How did she end up in the palace?"
"Niannian is... Ah, achoo!" The little dumpling had just opened his mouth when he couldn't help but sneeze.
Chen Zhixian immediately lost her desire to chat. She glanced at the sky and quickly pulled the little baby closer to her chest.
"It's getting windy, Niannian must be cold, right? Babies are most susceptible to catching a cold this time of year. Auntie has many new little clothes that she made herself. Shall we give one to Niannian to wear?"
"Okay!" The little dumpling nestled obediently in her gentle aunt's arms, snuggling her head comfortably against her shoulder, and made a request in her sweet, childish voice, "Can Niannian choose a pretty one?"
“Of course,” Chen Zhixian smiled, her eyes shining brightly.
"Yay!" The little dumpling happily kicked her short legs, nestled on her gentle aunt's shoulder, and said softly to the rockery, "Sister Zhuangyou, Niannian is going to play at Pretty Aunt's place. Please tell Brother Huo for Niannian!"
Speaking of Huo Chengche, the little boy pouted, looking smug, and said, "Also, this time Niannian wins! He hasn't been able to find Niannian for so long."
Behind the artificial hill, Zhuang You smiled helplessly as she listened to the little boy talking, then looked apologetically at Huo Chengche, who had arrived earlier.
