Cheng Dadao had a fierce look on his face, and his eyes flashed with malice as he spoke, leaving no doubt that he was not threatening anyone.
Upon hearing this, Tong Youlin broke out in a cold sweat. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the villagers in the village also looking terrified, and he immediately flew into a rage, shouting, "Keep dreaming! Cheng Dadao, you've killed countless people, aren't you afraid of retribution?!"
"Retribution?" Cheng Dadao laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke, and he and his brothers behind him burst into laughter.
Tong Youlin's hand, gripping the knife, bulged with veins as he stared intently at Cheng Dadao. "What are you laughing at!"
Cheng Dadao looked at Tong Youlin's angry expression, then at the fear on the faces of the villagers behind him, and laughed provocatively, "I'm laughing at you for saying such things to scare children when you're about to die!"
"Retribution? Hahaha! Who's going to punish me?" Cheng Dadao looked at Tong Youlin with a mocking smile, baring his teeth and laughing wildly. "Is it those government troops who are going to surround and annihilate you, or these imposters you've hired to scare people? Hahaha—"
Cheng Dadao looked at Huo Chengche and the others with disdain.
Xuan Di looked at Cheng Da Dao's posture and smiled at him with great interest, his eyes full of the pleasure of watching a good show.
Liang Sheng, the unlucky fellow who was all too familiar with the young master's methods, also looked on with schadenfreude. He gave Cheng Dadao a smile that seemed to wish him well.
Huo Chengche remained calm, but Jia Wen was furious. He called the people of Deshan Village bandits every day, but now that he had encountered real bandits, he felt his face burning with embarrassment.
But this damned bandit leader had to bring up the very thing he didn't want to talk about. Of all things, he had to bring up "encircling and suppressing government troops." Was he trying to drag someone down with him when he was about to die?
Finally, when Cheng Dadao looked away, he accidentally met the clean, clear, dark eyes of a little baby.
Immediately, he received a question from a curious child, tilting his head and asking in a childish voice, "Uncle, did you bring paint?"
Uh-huh?
Colors, pigments? What kind of pigments?
Cheng Dadao's fierce expression was interrupted by a cute, silly little baby.
He stared intently into the little boy's clear, earnest gaze, strained to maintain a fierce expression, and asked in a serious and cold tone, "What paint!"
After asking the question, he glanced at Huo Chengche.
Huo Chengche raised his eyebrows in confusion, looked down at his little dumpling, and only saw a fluffy little head. So he glanced at Xuan Di with a wistful look.
The latter rolled her eyes at him, "Why are you looking at me? Who knows what kind of nonsense she's thinking and writing all day long?"
Xuan Di shrugged casually and said coolly.
The little boy immediately pouted and retorted in a childish voice, "Niannian didn't think anything weird. This uncle himself said he was going to paint the whole village, but they clearly didn't bring any paint! How are they going to paint them then!"
The little dumpling gave a fierce little snort, then its bright, dark eyes darted around, and with a flick of its little finger, it spoke in a very confident and assertive tone.
Huo Chengche: ...
Xuandi looked up at the sky, slapped his face with his long fingers, covered his face tightly, and turned his head away as if he had nothing to do with the little baby.
Cheng Dadao looked completely bewildered. He thought about it carefully for a moment before suddenly realizing what the little boy was talking about. His expression then became... indescribable.
Cheng Dadao felt like he'd been tricked, but looking at the little dumpling's earnest and innocent eyes, he realized that if he got angry, it would be him being unreasonable!
This strange feeling of suffocation...
