"What is Niannian looking at?" Huo Chengche asked gently, a slight smile playing on his lips, as he looked at the little dumpling peeking around with a mischievous grin.
Little Chanian excitedly turned her little head back, and with a slight twitch of her tiny nose, the little dumpling excitedly kicked her short legs in Chong Jindi's arms, "It smells so good! Chanian wants to eat cake!"
It smells good!
Huo Chengche and Emperor Chongjin exchanged a glance, both seeing doubt in each other's eyes.
When the two children didn't agree, the little one immediately pouted and kicked her short legs hard.
Seeing that she had attracted Emperor Chongjin's attention, the little boy rubbed his face against the crook of his neck in a flattering manner, pleading in his childish voice, "Godfather is the best! Godfather is a very good person, please let me eat some cake!"
Her soft, sweet little voice was incredibly endearing, and her large, watery eyes blinked eagerly at him, making her look like a poor little thing who hadn't eaten for days.
How could Emperor Chongjin resist the little one's adorable pleading? He quickly coaxed her gently, "Alright, alright, Godfather will take Niannian to eat cakes, where?"
As he spoke, Emperor Chongjin smiled helplessly. This little gluttonous girl would immediately start thrashing around as soon as she smelled food, and he could hardly hold her anymore.
When the little boy saw that Emperor Chongjin had agreed, his dimples immediately appeared, and he smiled sweetly and happily.
She quickly tilted her head back and drew a circle in the air, her little nose twitching slightly, then stretched out her delicate little finger and pointed behind Emperor Chongjin, "There! There! Cake smells so good!"
After speaking, the little girl's bright, watery eyes blinked as she looked at Emperor Chongjin, giving him a big, radiant smile that graced her rosy cheeks. She was clean, clever, and incredibly cute.
"You little rascal." Emperor Chongjin shook his head with a smile, resignedly carrying the little baby over there.
Huo Chengche looked at the little boy excitedly perched on Emperor Chongjin's shoulder, smiled faintly, and wanted to follow him, but was stopped by Emperor Chongjin.
"Che'er, you've just woken up, so it's not good for you to move around too much. Your father will be back soon, so go back to your room and rest. We'll summon the imperial physician to examine you later."
"Father..." Huo Chengche wanted to say something, but when he met Emperor Chongjin's uncompromising gaze, he swallowed his words and gave a faint reply.
Emperor Chongjin watched Huo Chengche enter the room before taking the eager little baby to eat cake.
"Niannian, where is it?" Emperor Chongjin walked in the direction of the little baby's little finger.
*
A quarter of an hour later, Emperor Chongjin stood outside the gate of the Gantai Palace, looking at the long palace road in front of him, his sword-like eyebrows slightly furrowed.
He lowered his head and tapped the little nose of the tea-loving girl in his arms. "Didn't Niannian's little nose smell it wrong? This is the direction to the inner palace. The imperial kitchen isn't this way."
The little dumpling pouted, pointed his little finger forward, and said firmly in his sweet, childish voice, "It's over there! Osmanthus sugar, the cakes smell so good! And there's sweet juice too!"
Emperor Chongjin looked suspiciously in the direction of Cha Nian's small hand. The road led straight to the inner palace, stretching as far as the eye could see, with two gardens on either side, but no palaces at all.
He was already certain that the silly little girl had smelled it wrong.
"Godfather, take Niannian with you! Godfather just promised Niannian, you can't go back on your word!" The little boy wrapped his arms around Chong Jindi's neck, looking at him expectantly, as if afraid he would change his mind.
Emperor Chongjin could only sigh helplessly, "Fine."
