The little boy ran a few steps and saw a rockery.
Zhuangyou caught up as well, and seeing the little girl looking up at the rockery, she immediately knew what she was up to.
"Would you like me to carry the little princess up?" Zhuangyou squatted down behind the little baby and asked gently.
The little boy spotted a tiny hole just big enough for him to squeeze through, but shook his head with great pride and said to Zhuangyou in his childish voice, "No, Niannian is playing hide-and-seek with Brother Huo, how can we let others help us?"
After saying that, the little dumpling flapped her short arms and legs and rolled into the little hole she had her eye on.
Don't let her chubby, round appearance fool you; at home, she's quite the little one, climbing trees and walls.
This tiny little thing, though with its tiny hands and feet and clumsy movements, was surprisingly fast. It quickly crawled into the hole it had chosen, its little bottom sticking out in the air.
Zhuangyou couldn't help but chuckle, her gaze fixed on the little dumpling, squatting behind her to prevent her little darling from getting hurt.
The little dumpling rolled into her favorite artificial cave, tucked her tiny hands and feet in, and then poked her little head out. "Sister Zhuangyou, you should hide too! If you're here, Brother Huo will definitely know I'm hiding here!"
Zhuangyou chuckled and nodded in agreement. She then slipped into the nearby woods, actually avoiding the little girl's line of sight, before returning to a spot not far away where she could see the little girl, quietly watching over her.
The little baby knelt and lay in the artificial cave, adorably pulling his little head back and pricking up his little ears to listen to the footsteps outside.
Soon, as the little baby's ears twitched, she heard Dejiang's footsteps.
Then, the little boy pricked up his ears and began to listen to Huo Chengche's footsteps.
The little boy listened intently, but couldn't hear Huo Chengche's footsteps at all.
The little dumpling blinked curiously, then suddenly heard a series of rapid footsteps coming from another direction.
Upon closer listening, the footsteps were clearly two separate sets of footsteps, one urgent and the other disordered.
Dejiang was still circling around, approaching this way, when the two sets of footsteps were already getting closer very quickly.
Zhuangyou also noticed someone approaching. Her expression became slightly wary, but she subtly moved closer to the little baby, making sure she could step on him at any moment and carry her little darling away.
The hole the little boy chose is open on both sides, and its position is about three heads higher than that of a normal man, cramped in the middle, so that people standing below cannot see it.
Hearing that someone was coming, the little boy curiously looked towards the other side of the cave.
As expected, two people arrived, both women. The one in front was an old woman, wearing a worn-out light brown jacket, with her hair styled in a shiny bun. She had an arrogant and fierce expression, and grabbed the hand of the woman behind her without saying a word.
The woman behind her was being pulled along, stumbling and hunched over, barely visible to the little baby. But even from a few glances, she could sense the weakness and frailty of the woman behind her; she was as thin as a rake.
Before the little boy could react, the artificial mountain suddenly shook.
The two were positioned directly below the artificial cave where the little boy was lying.
The little baby quickly and quietly poked half of her head out of the hole, revealing her bright, dark eyes as she looked down at the situation below.
