Chapter 189, /.

A piercing scream ripped through the air. Although it was barely audible to Zhuangyou and Jiang Nanny, it still sounded particularly shrill and eerie in the quiet moonlit night.

Zhuang You frowned upon hearing this, looked in Meng Xiaxuan's direction, then seemed to realize something, and shook her head with a helpless smile.

Nanny Jiang couldn't tell where the shrill scream was coming from. The wind howled in the moonlit night, sending a chill down her spine. She instinctively frowned and asked, "What's going on?"

Zhuangyou rubbed her temples, her brows furrowed with helplessness.

Meanwhile, in Mengxia Pavilion, Xuandi rolled his eyes and reached out to rub his ears, which had almost gone deaf. His forehead wrinkles had almost popped out from the effort.

He kicked away the stupid tiger that was trying to lunge at the little girl, squatted down next to the girl who was almost scared out of her wits, grabbed the handkerchief from her hand, and threw it away.

Immediately, the big tiger wagged its tail happily and pounced on the little handkerchief, just like it had pounced on Xia Yi earlier. It nudged the crumpled little handkerchief into the corner and rubbed and licked it.

Xuandi glanced at the stupid tiger that was sniffing the handkerchief and wagging its tail with great disdain, then kicked it aside to make room for himself.

"Are you alright?" Xuan Di looked at Xia Yi, the pale-faced palace maid, raised an eyebrow, and a deep, dark look appeared in his eyes. His gaze on Xia Yi was already intimidating. "Zhuang You asked you to wait here. Is there a message you want to convey to me?"

Upon hearing Xuan Di's words, Xia Yi immediately realized what had happened and quickly told Xuan Di what had just occurred.

Upon hearing this, Xuan Di's face immediately darkened, as if he were a cold-faced demon. The courtyard, which had just been cool with a night breeze, suddenly became as cold as the dead of winter.

Xia Yi couldn't help but shudder, burying her head almost in her chest.

The sound of steady, powerful footsteps rang out. Xia Yi looked up with trembling eyelids and saw only Xuan Di's murderous back, which was like a sharp blade being drawn from its sheath, with the momentum of thunder and the aura of a thousand troops.

As Xuandi walked past a certain stupid tiger, he glanced at the pathetic creature's foolish appearance.

Zhanyu immediately felt a chill run down its back and shivered. When it turned around, it met its master's deep gaze, which frightened it so much that even the fur on the tip of its tail stood on end, and it shrank its neck in a spineless manner.

Xuan Di coldly withdrew his gaze and walked towards the main hall of Xiao Chen Palace.

Zhan Yu quickly tucked his tail between his legs and slunk off after them.

Soon, the quiet of the deep night returned to Mengxia Pavilion.

Fu Man, standing at the entrance of the main hall, was completely unaware of what he was about to face. He was peeking around, his face still showing the lingering shock from the faint scream that had just suddenly rang out.

Jiang, the wet nurse, was equally unaware of what had happened. She turned to look at Zhuang You's expression, frowned, and asked, "What was that sound just now? Do you know something?"

Zhuangyou turned around and looked at the oblivious Fuman, smiled leisurely, a dark glint flashing in her eyes, and said in a low voice to Nanny Jiang, "Our Fifth Young Master will be here soon."

Upon hearing this, Jiang's eyes lit up immediately, and a smile finally appeared on her face, which had been dark all night. She glanced at Fu Man, her eyes filled with a cold sneer.
