The childish, coquettish voice made the old lady smile from ear to ear.
She looked at the little baby with delight, holding it in her arms; it was soft and chubby, and of course, heavy, so it was clearly solid.
"Oh my, this little guy is like a piece of my heart. Che'er, where did you bring this little darling from?" The old lady lowered her head and pinched the little dumpling's chubby face as she asked Huo Chengche.
The little boy raised his rosy cheeks and looked at the old lady with a puzzled expression. "Isn't Grandma supposed to see Niannian? How come she doesn't know who Niannian is?"
"Huh?" The old lady was completely bewildered by the little boy.
Upon seeing the old lady's expression, the little boy immediately puffed up his cheeks and angrily accused Huo Chengche, "Crown Prince Brother is lying!"
The old lady raised an eyebrow at Huo Chengche and asked, "What did you say to Niannian? When did I say I wanted to see Niannian?"
"However," the old lady said with a smile after scolding Huo Chengche, then lowered her head and hugged the little bundle of flesh in her arms even tighter, tapping her little nose, "now Grandma wants to see Niannian."
Upon hearing this, the little boy's dimples lit up with joy, and he snuggled into the old lady's arms, giggling happily.
Huo Chengche smiled as he looked at the little boy's clingy and endearing appearance, when he was suddenly met with the old lady's reproachful question.
The boy smiled faintly and said, feigning innocence, "Grandmother always says she wants to see Niannian, so why wouldn't she urge me after seeing Che'er? That's why I brought her to you, and now you're asking me again?"
The old woman was even more bewildered, and said strangely, "When did I start saying I wanted to see you every day—"
In a flash, the old lady suddenly understood what the brat meant:
"Che'er, you're about to come of age and be betrothed as the Crown Princess. The choice of your primary consort is not to be taken lightly! Which family's daughter has your imperial grandmother chosen for you? Tell your maternal grandmother in advance so that she can help you take a look!"
"The Empress Dowager is in the palace, unlike my maternal grandmother who observes things more thoroughly from outside! If this girl isn't good, my maternal grandmother won't allow it!"
"Che'er, has your primary wife been chosen? Which family's daughter is she?"

The boy watched as the old woman abruptly stopped, then paused in surprise. He knew then that the old woman understood his meaning, and a faint smile appeared on his thin lips.
The old lady looked up in a daze. At first, she thought she might be overthinking things, but seeing her grandson's expression, she had no doubt that the brat had really fallen for the girl!

The old lady stiffly lowered her head, looking at the chubby little bundle in her arms.
Right now, the little dumpling is slyly craning his neck, his chubby little hands clinging to the old lady's arm, and pushing his little nose toward the pastries on the table again and again.
With a slight tremor of its little nose, the little baby swallowed a large mouthful of saliva with a greedy look.
"Niannian can't eat this." Seeing the little dumpling's greedy little face, Huo Chengche took the plate of snacks away without any room for discussion and placed it where the little dumpling couldn't see it, but could smell it.
"Bad guy!" The little boy puffed out his cheeks angrily and glared at Huo Chengche.
"Good girl." The boy looked at the little girl's fierce expression, but instead touched the soft flesh on her chin and coaxed her gently, "Go back to your Crown Prince brother, and he will feed you some snacks that won't make you cough, okay?"
Thinking of the sweet little snack in breakfast, the little dumpling pouted and finally snuggled back into the old lady's arms.
However, while the little boy was behaving well, the old lady was in a state of turmoil.
