The little dumpling grinned, her dimples deepening, and wiggled her short legs, mischievously saying in her childish voice, "Then Sister Zhuangyou, hurry up and come around the door with Sister Xiayi, Niannian is waiting for you here!"
"This..." Xia Yi had never seen such a capable little baby before, and stared blankly at Zhuang You asking questions.
Zhuangyou smiled helplessly, used to it, glanced at the little baby, and replied good-naturedly, "Okay, then Sister Zhuangyou will be here in a little while. Little princess, you're not allowed to run around by yourself, or Sister Zhuangyou will get angry."
"Okay," the little boy obediently replied, just as a pretty auntie was walking around the corner.
Zhuangyou and Xiayi had already walked towards the door.
The little girl was sitting on the wall when she saw the auntie approaching. She reached out and helped her pick up a low-hanging branch. She only let go of the branch after the auntie had passed by.
The branch was quite thick. After the little baby let go, the branch bounced back and forth, causing the shadow of the tree to sway and startling the woman who had just walked by.
The woman turned around and saw the twig that had bounced back behind her. Her expression changed, and she looked up to see the little baby sitting on the wall.
When the little boy saw his aunt looking over, he dimpled and gave her a sweet smile.
However, the woman paid no attention to the little boy's sweet smile. The palace maid beside her was whispering in her ear, "Your Majesty, I heard that the Empress Dowager summoned the concubine's maternal relatives to the palace today. This should be a child from the Xue family."
Upon hearing this, the woman's face quickly darkened, her expression turning harsh. "Are you trying to hit me?! Whose wild child is this! Doesn't anyone discipline him?!"
The little boy's dimples disappeared as he watched his beautiful auntie's expression change instantly, and the smile on his face turned into a pitiful expression.
Her watery eyes darkened slightly in confusion, and she explained in a childish voice, "No, Niannian didn't mean to hit Auntie. Niannian just saw that the branches on this side were a bit low, so she helped Auntie lift them up."
The woman was taken aback, then her face darkened again as she glanced at the palace maid beside her.
The palace maid Miao'er interrupted the little boy, shouting sternly, "My lady is Mu Wanji of the Zhaohe Palace! Why aren't you coming down to pay your respects?! Didn't your master teach you any manners?!"
Mu Wanji and her servant thought they could intimidate the little boy.
However, upon hearing Miao'er's words, the little boy no longer felt aggrieved. He stood up from the wall, puffing out his cheeks, and looked down at Mu Wanji and her servant with a rather imposing air.
Just as Mu Wanji and her servants were stunned, the little girl said to them fiercely, "My father said that rules are born from reverence in one's heart. Aunties, you are being unreasonable and bullying the younger ones. Why should Niannian respect you?"
Mu Wanji was choked by the little boy's words, and her face instantly turned even more unpleasant. She hadn't expected that this little thing's mouth could shut her up like that. Shouldn't a child this age be unable to speak clearly?!
The little girl looked at her aunt who had nothing to say, pouted her little mouth, and made a babyish hum. Just as she was about to explain to Mu Wanji that she really didn't mean to hit her, she heard Mu Wanji suddenly speak with a cold sarcasm.
"You ill-mannered brat! I said a few words to you, and you still dare to talk back! Guards, seize this impolite child for me. Today, I will make your family give me an explanation!" Mu Wanji was caught in a dilemma, and her attitude became even more aggressive.
After saying that, Mu Wanji irritably rolled up her sleeves, turned around, and ordered the people following behind her, "Let's go to Gantai Palace!"
