The evening breeze was not dry, but comfortable and refreshing. The off-road vehicle sped all the way out of the Yuncheng urban area and drove into the Ruicheng Linyintianxia villa area before the sun set.
Fu Chai went to park the car, and Balu carried Nanxi up to the second floor.
The decoration inside is unexpectedly pleasing to the eye.
Entering the bedroom, Nanxi was put on the bed. She lay down in the soft quilt, supporting her chin with one hand, looking at the man opposite.
"Ba Xiaolu, when did you have such good taste? The decoration is quite stylish."
Baru scratched his head and said, "I bought it ready-made. I looked for several and finally Sister Zhen Zhen helped me pick this one."
Nanxi couldn't help laughing, "I was wondering, your taste has improved so much, I'm a little uncomfortable with it."
Baru sat down on the bed and tickled her mischievously, "You have nothing to do all day and all you do is laugh at me. Don't I have a pretty good eye for finding a wife?"
"I'm not being modest about this." Nanxi turned over and lay back on her back, feeling comfortable all over.
"Go find my pajamas. I need to take a shower and go to bed quickly. I'm so tired."
"Sleep after dinner." Baru stood up. "I'll go cook now. You can play for a while."
"Let's order takeout. How long will it take you to finish? Come and warm my feet."
She lifted her uninjured leg lightly, with the sole of her foot facing Balu. Her small, flesh-pink toes were very cute.
Baru sat back down, and she skillfully lifted up his black T-shirt with her foot and pressed it against his well-defined abdominal muscles.
"You've been spoiled to the heavens." The man lifted her legs lovingly, laid her on the bed, carefully placed the soles of her feet on her lower abdomen, and covered her with a quilt.
Nanxi lay back comfortably and picked up her phone to play.
Balu's phone rang at this moment. He was a little surprised to see the caller ID.
Zhang Lijun, his class teacher when he was studying at the Military Academy in China, was later transferred to a military district in Yuncheng as the director of the political department.
After pressing the answer button, Baru's tone was unusually serious.
"Teacher Zhang."
"Balu, boy, why didn't you call me when you came to Yuncheng? How come you even forgot me, your old class teacher after graduation?" The person on the other end of the line had a loud and powerful voice.
Baru smiled and said, "No, mainly because I haven't made any achievements and I'm afraid of embarrassing the teacher."
"Come on, you're already in Yangon's most powerful center in your twenties, and you're still not doing well. Are you kidding me? If you hadn't gone to the police station today and been seen by your senior brother, I wouldn't have known you've gotten this far. Are you free? Come out and sit down."
"Teacher, I have left Yuncheng and will return to Yangon tomorrow. If you have anything to say, just tell me. I will do my best to help." Baru knew very well that it was impossible for an official of Teacher Zhang's level to be asked out just to chat.
"Well, since you have already guessed it, I won't beat around the bush." Zhang Lijun paused and continued.
"Baru, I think you know more about the chaos in northern Myanmar than I do. With Myanmar's elections now underway, there's no time to focus on northern Myanmar. The criminals there are even more unscrupulous, and this has seriously affected the property and even life safety of people living along the border between the two countries, especially many Chinese citizens.
Although you're a student in the international class, you're also one of my soldiers. Our Chinese position is to crack down on criminal gangs hiding in northern Myanmar while maintaining border stability. This requires cooperation, or even direct action. After much deliberation, I think you're the most suitable person."
Baru nudged his cheek with the tip of his tongue, "Teacher, this matter is of great importance. It cannot be decided between you and me, teacher and student. Northern Myanmar is not Chinese territory after all. Cross-border law enforcement is very difficult. If I send troops, I must have a legitimate reason and get approval from above. I personally do not have the authority to use troops.
Furthermore, given the current situation, if a conflict breaks out, the consequences will be difficult to control. If we're not careful, there could be border friction. There will be a lot of people internationally waiting to catch China in the act, and you'll be branded as interfering in other countries' internal affairs, which will have a negative impact internationally."
The person on the other end smiled and said, "Alright, kid, you've matured a lot in the past few years. You look like a powerful leader now, a bit like Hong Jin back then.
So, we'll discuss the joint law enforcement after the Myanmar election. But, there are two people I want you to help me get out of here. That's something I can definitely do, right?"
Baru smiled and said, "It's no problem to rescue them. Teacher, who should we rescue?"
"Two Chinese businessmen were tricked into northern Myanmar two months ago. This incident has quickly escalated back home, putting immense pressure on our public security agencies. Your senior brother, now at the Yuncheng Public Security Bureau, spoke to me today about this. Since you're a local, your chances of success are much greater than ours crossing the border. That's why I'm asking you this today."
"Teacher, you're welcome. Please send me the identification information of those two businessmen and I'll have someone look for them first."
…
After hanging up the phone, Balu turned around and saw his young wife looking at him with her big, blinking eyes, as if she wanted to say something but stopped herself.
He found it funny. When did Nan Xiaoxi become so obedient? She had always been ruthless in punishing him.
"What's wrong, wife?" the man asked in a deep voice.
"Ba Xiaolu, why do you refuse to cooperate with law enforcement? Those people in northern Myanmar are all bad guys. Arresting them is justice."
Baru smiled and said, "Fool, if justice were so easy to uphold, why would there be so many hells on earth? You think things are too simple."
Nanxi looked at him, pulled his arms away, and got into his arms.
"But you are a soldier, a hero."
