The night in Yuncheng at around eight o'clock is a bustling and romantic time.
People were coming and going on the street. A tall and handsome man got out of an SUV parked on the side of the road, took out a cigarette, squatted in a deserted corner and smoked it, holding a mobile phone in his other hand with an unhappy look on his face.
"Brother Meng, I'm getting married, so what's wrong with asking for a few days off to take my wife on a honeymoon? Are you a fascist? Is there anyone who exploits people like you? You don't even let me take a single day off."
"I didn't ask for leave for you? Where are you now? I haven't smelled my wife for a fucking week. Where can I go to complain?
You're the only ones who have so much trouble. One of you went to China to get a marriage certificate, and the other went to Country M to chase his wife. Do you think my money is that easy to earn? I just support you bunch of losers all day long. Get back here as soon as possible.
As soon as Aung Suw's Deputy Prime Minister was released, he incited Shan State and Kokang to jointly rebel. Public opinion is now surging in the country, demanding the release of Aung Suw and his confidants. The pro-M and pro-India factions in the parliament are in chaos, but their attitude towards the military is surprisingly consistent. I suspect they are acting. You go to Yangon first to hold Sakun down, and when Chanpong comes back, ask him to report to my joint action team in Thailand immediately.
If he doesn't get this military merit, he won't be promoted, and I'll always have a leak in my back, understand?"
"Zhan Peng may be targeted, but I'm not sure which faction it is. Brother Meng, Song Cai can still hold out in the north. The more I think about Zhan Peng, the more things seem off."
When Balu heard Wu Meng's words, he knew that there was no hope for this vacation. He could only quickly get Zhan Peng back so that Song Cai could go back to Yangon to hold on, and he could at least spend a few days with his wife on his honeymoon.
"Didn't he go to find his wife? What could happen?" Wu Meng's voice began to sound impatient.
"There's a man named Zanlong next to his wife. He's the son of Taylor, the man who almost killed me. Do you still remember him?"
Wu Meng paused, "Yeah."
How could he not remember? That man was cruel and ruthless and had no humanity at all. Balu fought with him for the casino and almost died. For several years after that, he felt uncomfortable every time he saw Balu.
"Taylor has so many women, he probably doesn't even know how many sons he has." Wu Meng snorted coldly.
"Yes, but Zamlong was taken over from Thailand by Taylor. Zhan Peng found out that he controls nearly half of the local drug and marijuana market. I suspect he might want to get his hands on the source in Southeast Asia and monopolize the local market, so he supports Zamlong as an agent here. However, if he wants to get involved, he needs a stepping stone, and Zhan Peng's life is the best."
"Alu, you must leave immediately and come back tomorrow morning. I will call Zhan Peng now and ask him to get out as soon as possible."
After years of living on the edge of a knife, Wu Meng's sense of smell is extremely sensitive. With just these few words, he can be sure that Zhan Peng's situation is not optimistic.
After hanging up the phone, Balu glanced at the brightly lit shopping mall behind him, took out a cigarette and smelled it, feeling uneasy.
Na Tu lost a leg and his son died. He lived in pain and self-blame all his life. Zhan Peng must not be in any danger again.
After all these years of fighting and striving, if evil still prevails over good, what hope is there for this land? What faith can the young people hold, and where can the common people find hope? What mother would still be willing to send her child to the army?
Chan Phong’s prestige in the Northern Myanmar Joint Defense Force cannot be underestimated. Without him, the balance in northern Myanmar will soon be broken. If the northern armed forces unite and move south, Myanmar will be in danger.
In order to force the military to take sides, Country M has just halted its large-scale energy project investment in Myanmar. The country cannot even solve basic livelihood issues. Once a civil war breaks out, the military expenditure alone can drag the country into an abyss of no return.
The country is severely divided into classes and riddled with contradictions. The current situation is the result of compromise and checks and balances between Wu Meng and the Congress. Once the balance is broken and the Congress attacks the military, Wu Meng and the entire core leadership of the Wu faction will be the first to suffer.
Iron-blooded soldiers are not afraid of death in war, but their sacred mission prevents them from watching their compatriots' blood dye the mother river red. This is the land they protect with their lives. How can they bear to cause harm to the people for their own selfish desires and let the already suffering people pay for the politicians' insatiable selfish desires?
"Dailong, what are you daydreaming about? I've been looking for you for a long time." The man, who was lost in thought while looking at the night view in the distance, was pulled back by his wife's words. He stood up and smiled at her.
"Nothing, honey, are you done talking?"
"Well," Nanxi nodded, "let's go back." She stretched out her arms and lazily put them around his neck. "I don't want to walk anymore. These shoes make my feet tired."
"Why didn't you wear flat shoes when I asked you to?" The man lovingly took the bag from her hand and hung it around his neck. Then he took off his coat and covered her with it. He leaned over to pick her up and walked towards the car not far away.
"These shoes look good with this skirt." She said confidently.
"The shoes are just that big, what's the big deal about whether they look good or not?" The grown man didn't quite understand. Who would stare at someone's feet while walking to see what kind of shoes they are wearing?
Nanxi, “…”
"Wife, Brother Meng didn't ask for leave for me, so I should go back to Yangon as soon as possible. Can we postpone our honeymoon a little?" The man felt guilty after getting in the car.
Nanxi smiled and said, "Even when you said you wanted to take a leave, I knew you couldn't get it."
"Why?"
"Public opinion in Myanmar is very unfavorable to the military government. I just told the news company the day before yesterday not to publish any news that is unfavorable to the military government. But the people below said that the Ayeyawady Newspaper and Voice of Myanmar are gaining momentum. Even if we don't speak out, we can't obviously support the military government, otherwise we will lose credibility."
