At five o'clock in the morning, Balu held his wife in his arms, one hand covering her lower back to support her as if it had become muscle memory, and he would not let go even if he fell asleep.
There was a sound of quarreling coming from downstairs outside, "You fucking don't understand what I'm saying, do you? I really have something important to say to Brother Lu." This was Boha's hurried voice.
"Boha, can you please let me be quiet? My sister-in-law is pregnant. I don't dare to go and call for help so early in the morning. Brother Lu will definitely break my bones. I advise you not to go either. Just let that woman be treated in the hospital. You should know better."
The person who was speaking was Biaozi, and he was on duty in the second half of the night.
Balu didn't want to pay attention to him at first, but Nanxi was still half asleep and had already woken up a little. She was terribly irritable and slapped him with her hands, kicked her feet, and turned away to stop him from hugging her.
"It's okay, baby, come here, hold me." Balu pressed his chest against his wife's back again, hugged her from behind, and put his thin lips on the back of her neck to coax her softly.
"Brother, come out quickly, or I'll smash the window..."
"Are you fucking excited? I'm going to beat you to death..."
The sound of Boha and Biaozi fighting could be heard again from below.
Nanxi was fully awake this time. She raised her foot and kicked Baru hard, "I want to sleep. Go out and take a look."
"Good, good... go to sleep." The man stood up, pulled a thin blanket over her, gritted his teeth and put on his slippers. He was wearing only a pair of black training shorts, opened the door and went downstairs.
"Have you fucking eaten monkey meat? What time is it now? I'm made of iron?" The man with a dark face opened the door and stood on the steps at the door, looking down at the two men who were fighting, with no good expression on his face.
"If I could wait until dawn, I wouldn't come here now. Brother, there is a big discovery. Let me in quickly." Boha pushed Biaozi away and ran to him.
Baru's dark eyes were still blazing with anger. "Ajie has already sent me the information. Why are you so fucking impatient?"
"It's not about Meiyi... Oh no, it's also somewhat related to her..." Boha's words were contradictory and he paused, "Oh, forget it, let's go in first..."
He had already rushed past Balu into the backyard.
Balu glanced at Biaozi, signaled him to stay put, and then went into the living room.
"You'll see if you can't come up with something fancy today."
Boha scratched his head, took out his phone from his pocket and handed it to Baru, "Brother, take a look at these first. Ajie and I took these last night."
"You took Wu Jie out again?" Baru asked casually while watching.
He was not surprised at all, knowing that Wu Jie could not really stay quietly in the confinement room.
"This guy has a good relationship with that snake." Boha made up an excuse and pointed to a picture that Baru had just found.
"Brother, there are so many soldiers guarding these few shabby houses in this godforsaken place. There must be something strange. Look at this guy."
He pointed at a man above him and said, "Meiyi has seen this man before. He was the one who forced Meiyi to try the goods. He supplies goods to many human traffickers on the border. Those human traffickers are bulk cargo owners. Sometimes when they run out of money, they will use girls to pay for part of the goods."
Balu looked at the bearded, tough-looking man in the picture, his dark eyes narrowed. "He looks like a soldier."
"They should be. These people are mercenaries. They have a wide variety of weapons, but they're all pretty good. But we only captured this little footage. Ah Jie said there was some strong snake powder spread nearby, so Xiao Xiaojin couldn't get close."
Baru rubbed his chin with his fingers. "So, there really is a 'ghost' in Boluogou? Did you stumble upon one by accident?"
"Probably." Boha nodded seriously. "Brother, what should we do now? We haven't confirmed their identities yet, and we don't know if they are friends or foes."
"Is that even a question? They're definitely enemies." Baru put down his phone. "What kind of friendships are there in northern Myanmar? Anyone who doesn't come to say hello is a terrorist organization."
The wicked man raised his hands and stretched his muscles backwards, his neck creaking from twisting. "Send the location to Cang Xiong. Have him fly over first and fire a burst of bullets at it. When it explodes, you and Biaozi will squat nearby. If anyone dares to shoot, just shoot them. Anyone hiding is definitely up to no good. Kill them first and report them later."
Boha stood up, a murderous aura emanating from his body, "Got it, brother."
"Wait." Baru stopped the man, his dark eyes scanning his face inch by inch. "Why didn't I notice you were so eager to fight before? You, boy, got me up so early in the morning. Was the fighting fake? Was it really revenge for that woman?"
Boha swallowed guiltily and said, "Well, how about I go to the market to buy breakfast for you and Sister Xi?"
Baru raised his foot to kick, but Boha dodged to the side.
The man on the sofa looked up lazily, "Do you really like it that much?"
"Yeah." Boha nodded. "She really is a good girl, brother. If you don't believe me, ask Sister Xi to meet her. She has better taste than you do. Sister Xi will definitely say she is a good girl."
Baru glared at him angrily, "Get lost... When did my wife start to bother you guys? Damn it, one by one, do I owe you?"
"Then I--" Before Boha could finish his next words, gunshots suddenly rang out outside.
Both of their expressions changed and their eyes met.
"Alu..." Nanxi's terrified voice with a crying tone came from upstairs.
Baru's mind went blank. He rushed out like a cheetah and took two steps up the stairs.
Bang--
The bedroom door was pushed open forcefully, and the man stepped forward, hugging his frightened wife.
