Liang Lu was mostly focused on how to get the money from the store manager, and didn't notice the man's strange look at all.
She wasn't some innocent girl. Ever since Song Cai brought her here to buy clothes, she'd felt something was amiss. But she also felt it was impossible. A man like him, he'd seen all kinds of women, and wanted any woman he wanted. How could he possibly be interested in her, a woman who'd been married, had an abortion, and had been abused in northern Myanmar?
Besides, she knew herself well. Her face had been worn down by life and had lost its former vitality and brightness. No matter how she thought about it, it was impossible for him to have such thoughts. He was probably just doing it on behalf of a friend and didn't want to offend that person.
Thinking of this, she felt a little more relaxed and was pulled in by the enthusiastic store manager to try on clothes.
Song Cai bought all the clothes she had tried on. The one she wore when she came had been thrown away by the man. Finally, she left wearing a lavender dress.
Liang Lu thought she could go back after buying the clothes, but the man took her to a styling studio on the top floor.
Song Cai walked in, sat on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and said, "Ask your best stylist to come and tidy her up."
The wealthy man would just give a stack of tips as soon as he reached out, and the shop assistants would treat him like an ancestor, serving him tea and water.
Song Cai just sat there, becoming more and more impatient as he waited.
He didn't know what was wrong with him, he just felt that the gray appearance was just an illusion used by this woman to cover up. Once people become curious, they will constantly want to find out the truth.
When a bright pearl is covered with dust, the first person who discovers it will always want to wipe off the dust to see how dazzling it is.
In the styling room, Liang Lu watched the top designer style and put on makeup for her, and suddenly her eyes became sore. The last time she dressed so beautifully was when she went to an event on a cruise ship with her good friends.
Many years have passed, and seeing this fully made-up face again feels like a lifetime ago.
The stylist clapped his hands exaggeratedly and kept praising her beauty in Chinese with a thick Thai accent, but the woman sitting on the chair just smiled faintly.
When Liang Lu was brought out by the stylist, the man waiting outside had already smoked his third cigarette, still trying hard to restrain himself. He didn't know what he was upset about or what he was looking forward to.
Until that slender lavender figure appeared in his eyes, the whole person felt like a spring breeze, and all the restlessness was swept away.
"Sir, take a look. Are you satisfied? Madam looks really beautiful dressed like this." The studio owner who had been serving Song Cai asked attentively.
Song Cai seemed to have come back to his senses, his eyes were a little vague, his Adam's apple moved violently, and then he took out the tip.
"Yeah, not bad."
The boss took the tip with both hands, smiled so hard that his teeth were showing, and nodded repeatedly.
Liang Lu stood there quietly, her face expressionless as always, like a rag doll at the mercy of others. This inexplicably pricked a nerve in the man's heart. He narrowed his dark eyes, went up to Liang Lu, took her hand, and walked outside.
Liang Lu let him pull her into the car. After they sat in the car, the man only said to the driver, "Drive, go back." Then he didn't speak again along the way.
The atmosphere in the car was extremely depressing. Liang Lu could clearly feel the low pressure on this man, but she couldn't guess why he suddenly got angry.
She won't bother to guess things that are beyond her comprehension. She only focuses on the present, which seems to have become her instinct.
The car stopped at the intersection of the main building. Song Cai told the driver, "Bring all the things in." Then he got out of the car, but he did not leave. Instead, he stood beside the car, waiting for the distracted woman inside to get out by herself.
Seeing that he had no intention of leaving, Liang Lu followed him down.
"Sir, is there anything else you need me to do? It's inconvenient for me to wear this outfit. Can I go change first and then come back to work?" Her voice was light, polite, distant, and indifferent.
Song Cai pursed his lips, tightened and loosened his hands in his trouser pockets, but he couldn't think of what to say. It seemed that nothing he said would be appropriate.
"I told you, you don't have to work." He finally managed to say this.
"Then what should I do?" Liang Lu was a little confused. If he didn't let her work, would he let her go?
"You don't have to do anything, just stay with me."
"Ah?" The woman opposite finally raised her eyes and met the man's dark eyes. When her eyes looked at people, they were like a spring water, dark and moist, but there was a melancholy tone in her eyes, which made people feel distressed.
Liang Lu was only surprised for a second, then she seemed to understand, bit her lip, and lowered her head, "Okay, sir, I understand."
Song Cai thought she understood his feelings, and his Adam's apple rolled again. He asked tentatively, "Don't you have anything to say? What do you mean by knowing?"
Willing or unwilling?
"Tonight, okay? I'll go clean up first."
The man opposite was puzzled. If you are willing, just say two words, if you are not willing, just say three words. Why wait until night?
Or should she think about it?
That's right, Chinese women are more shy. Aaron's wife struggled for several years before she agreed. It's normal for her to want it for a few hours.
Thinking of this, Song Cai's cold and handsome face showed a faint smile, and his tone became a little gentler, "Okay, then you go and rest first, and have dinner with me tonight."
Liang Lu nodded, then walked in.
When she first arrived, she lived in the servants' building, but the housekeeper said that the main building needed someone to serve at all times, so she moved to the first floor.
The moment the door closed, she pressed her slender back against it, lay on her back with her eyes closed, and even her breathing felt suppressed.
