"Call the butler in for me."
Less than two minutes later, the butler walked in quickly, "Sir."
Song Cai's face was tense, and he looked up and down at the butler's face with his hawk-like eyes, and said sinisterly,
"You are from Yingbai, so I can't order you around?"
The butler's expression changed immediately, and he replied carefully, "Sir, what are you talking about? You are a distinguished guest personally invited by Master Yingbai, and a high-ranking official in the Burmese military. How dare I neglect you?"
"Then what's going on?" The man raised his chin in the direction where Liang Lu was busy, and his meaning was obvious.
The housekeeper also looked in the direction he pointed, and understood what was going on. He quickly explained,
"Sir, you are wronging me. I told her that you had instructed her not to do anything, but this morning she came to me and asked if the villa needed a servant.
I said I needed it, and she begged me to give her the job and then pay her according to the normal maid's salary. Not only here, she also negotiated with the chef for a job as an assistant in the kitchen.
She said that since you told her to do whatever she wanted, she was free and wanted to work here as long as we agreed.
I was so pestered by her that I agreed to let her try. If you don't want to, I will ask her to stop doing it right away."
Although Liang Lu didn't understand Thai, she could guess what the housekeeper was saying because he kept looking at her while talking. She put down the rag in her hand, and although her thick hair was tied up, her face remained expressionless as she walked towards Song Cai.
