He was like an old father who was afraid that his children would not have enough to eat or wear while they were away from home, and he wished he could pack up the whole family and take them with him.
The journey to the train station seemed exceptionally short. Qin Tian drove the jeep in silence the entire way. Upon reaching the bustling platform, the atmosphere of parting grew even heavier. The sounds of train whistles, vendors' cries, and the cacophony of people intertwined to form a vast net, amplifying the reluctance in people's hearts.
Qin Tian helped them settle their luggage, then stood outside the car window, looking at Su Wantang through the glass. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he only raised his hand and waved it forcefully.
"Waaah—"
A long whistle sounded, and the train slowly began to move.
Qin Tian's figure slowly receded outside the window as the train started moving. He stood still, waving his hand continuously, until his figure grew smaller and smaller until it was finally swallowed up by the corner of the platform.
Su Wantang could no longer hold back her tears, which streamed down her face. She pressed her face against the car window, gazing in the direction where her uncle had disappeared, sobbing uncontrollably.
A warm, dry hand covered her back, patting it gently. Lu Linchuan didn't speak, but simply pulled her into his arms, letting her lean against his firm chest.
"Stop crying, or the two little ones in your belly will feel sad too." His voice was deep and gentle, with a comforting power.
She gripped Lu Linchuan's hand tightly; his palm was icy cold.
Lu Linchuan took her small hand and held it tightly in his large palm, as if trying to transfer his strength and warmth to her. Looking at her pale face, he whispered, "Don't be afraid. I'm here."
The train clattered along the tracks, carrying them towards an unknown future. Su Wantang leaned on Lu Linchuan's shoulder, her heart unable to find peace. She knew the road ahead might not be as smooth as she had imagined. And right now, all she could do was take care of her health, protect the child in her womb, and become his strongest support. She subconsciously touched her lower abdomen, where two new lives were growing, embodying all her hope and courage. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
