Su Wantang touched the safety buckle on her chest, her heart filled with sweetness. She looked up at the man beside her, who was gazing intently at her. In his deep eyes, the sharpness and ruthlessness of the battlefield were gone, replaced by overflowing tenderness and love.
She suddenly realized that what she had been seeking in this new life was nothing more than peace and happiness in the present moment.
"Happiness is not a gift that falls from the sky, but rather the hands that are still clasped tightly and the eyes that look into each other's eyes after the storm," she said softly.
Lu Linchuan heard this, and he took her hand, their fingers intertwined, responding to all her feelings with his actions.
The family was happily sharing a cake when there was a knock on the gate.
It was Zhao Jing from next door. She brought over a bowl of freshly cooked longevity noodles and said with a smile, "It's Tang's birthday. I don't have anything special, so I just cooked a bowl of noodles to wish her good luck."
"Sister Zhao, you're too kind. Please come in and sit down," Su Wantang greeted warmly.
As Zhao Jing entered the house, she lowered her voice and gossiped, "Hey, have you heard? Something big happened to Liu Jianjun's family! He sent his mother back to her hometown a couple of days ago, I heard they've cut ties! This morning, I saw him standing at the entrance of the town clinic like he'd lost his soul. I heard he went to Liu Fen to beg for reconciliation, but she turned him down in front of everyone!"
Zhao Jing described it vividly: "You haven't seen Liu Fen like this, she's so energetic! She's a full-time nurse at the clinic, raising her child on her own, and living a good life! She's a capable person now, why would she want a mama's boy like Liu Jianjun! It's true what they say, what goes around comes around!"
Su Wantang and Lu Linchuan exchanged a glance, both seeing understanding in each other's eyes. She was genuinely happy for Liu Fen; a woman can only earn everyone's respect by truly standing up for herself.
After seeing Zhao Jing off, Su Wantang held her babbling babies, feeling a sense of peace.
She now has her own lover, her two children, her doting in-laws, and her own friends... Her life is fulfilling and happy.
From now on, she will walk hand in hand with Lu Linchuan and live happily ever after.
