Su Wantang left the space and went to the living room inside the villa.
The luxurious, retro living room features a dark brown, old-fashioned rotary dial telephone.
Based on her memory, Su Wantang dialed the phone number of Lu Linchuan's unit.
The call was answered quickly.
"Hello, I'd like to see your Commander Lu, Lu Linchuan."
"Okay. Commander Lu, someone's looking for you!" the male voice on the phone called out.
Soon, a deep, magnetic voice came from the receiver.
"Hello."
"Lu Linchuan! I am Su Wantang."
The woman's soft voice came through the receiver, making Lu Linchuan's heart flutter.
"Lu Linchuan, do you still stand by your promise to take responsibility for me and marry me?"
The man gripped the phone tightly in his large hand. "It's a deal."
Su Wantang's lips curved into a slight smile.
In her past life, after she died, her soul floated out and she saw Lu Linchuan carrying her body all the way back from the Northeast. He didn't mind her frostbite or her disfigured face. He cleaned her up, dressed her in a wedding dress, and held a ghost marriage with her.
Later, Lu Linchuan made his uncle's family pay the price, killing some and imprisoning others.
Lu Linchuan buried her and held a funeral for her. He stayed at her grave for three days and three nights without eating or drinking, telling her about the love he had buried deep in his heart.
She then realized that Lu Linchuan had loved her for a very, very long time.
"You're not having a good time over there, are you?" The man's sexy voice continued to come through the receiver.
"Did that bastard Song Qiang bully you?"
Hearing the man's concerned voice, Su Wantang felt a lump in her throat and almost burst into tears.
She sniffed. "Yeah. Song Qiang is a bastard. I only found out today that when I fell into the pool, it wasn't Song Qiang who saved me, it was you!"
"It was because Song Qiang took credit for your savior's work that I fell in love with him."
"And you, why didn't you tell me you were the one who saved me?"
The girl's voice was somewhat spoiled; she questioned him, yet she was also being affectionate.
"That's not important," Lu Linchuan said.
"How can it not be important?! It's the most important thing to me!" Su Wantang complained, "If you had told me back then, I wouldn't have wasted my feelings! Otherwise, I would have been with you long ago!"
The man paused for a moment, then said, "I don't want you to be with me because I saved your life. I don't want to use the debt of saving my life to blackmail you."
"Silly boy!" Su Wantang felt a warmth in her heart. "Anyway, since you've promised to take responsibility for me, you can't go back on your word!"
Lu Linchuan: "I won't go back on my word."
Su Wantang smiled and said, "Alright, then you can submit the marriage application. I'm going to join the military in a few days."
Lu Linchuan could hardly believe his ears. "Are you sure you want to marry me?"
After all, she had previously expressed her dislike for him.
