Chapter 57 Get out! (4/4)

The amber-colored coconut milk is crystal clear, and the sweet red beans are plump and coated with translucent sugar frosting. Small cubes of jelly sway gently inside, their translucent texture shimmering. The white fungus unfolds its snow-white petals, soaking up the sweetness of the coconut milk. The taro is a soft, milky white with a powdery texture, and the purple sweet potato has a deep purple sheen. On top of all, a sprinkle of crispy roasted peanut crumbs adds a bright touch to the whole dessert.

When you pick up the bowl, you first smell a faint aroma of coconut mixed with the sweetness of candied fruit.

Su Wantang took a spoonful, and the sweet coolness slid down her throat, dispelling the heat and sleepiness that had been plaguing her. She comfortably closed her eyes.

"It's delicious!" The woman's eyes crinkled into a smile, and she held another spoonful of the refreshing drink to the man's lips. "You should try some too!"

"Okay." Lu Linchuan took a sip; the taste was indeed very good.

"Good, you can drink it." Lu Linchuan pushed the bowl in front of her, looking at her with gentle eyes.

After watching her finish drinking, Lu Linchuan took out a paper packet from the large net bag.

The package was opened to reveal a brand new Dacron maternity dress with a delicate floral print; the style looked very cool and comfortable.

"This is a new one I bought. The fabric is nice. I'll try it on."

Su Wantang felt a sweet and tender warmth in her heart. Her fingertips traced the smooth fabric of the skirt, and she couldn't resist any longer. She looked up at him and asked, "That bicycle in the yard..."

Lu Linchuan took the empty bowl, his tone as casual as if he were just saying that the weather was nice today.

"I bought this for you."

"From now on, I'll take you wherever you want to go on my bike. If I feel like going to work, you can ride around town by yourself so you don't get stuck at home."

Su Wantang frowned, "But we had bicycles before."

“That car is in Shanghai, so we’ll have to buy a new one for this island,” Lu Linchuan said.

"Mmm." Su Wantang's face flushed, and she smiled faintly.

Besides what he bought, Lu Linchuan also bought her red bean buns, custard buns, and beef soup dumplings from the state-run restaurant.

The bun skin is very soft, and the texture is excellent with one bite.

The two sat facing each other at the dining table, eating breakfast.

After dinner, Lu Linchuan rode his bicycle with Su Wantang on the back towards the seaside.

Today the tide is coming in, making it a great time for beachcombing.

Therefore, Lu Linchuan prepared buckets, shovels, nets, and rubber shoes for the two of them.

The old-fashioned bicycle slowly traveled along the seaside road. A gentle breeze blew, and the salty sea breeze brushed against Su Wantang's cheeks, blowing the stray hairs around her ears.

She sat in the back seat, her hands gently gripping Lu Linchuan's shirt around his waist. The man's broad, sturdy back gave her a strong sense of security.

This scene instantly became the focus of the entire residential compound.

"Oh my, look! Commander Lu is taking his wife out again!"

"I'm so envious! Look at how affectionate that young couple is, they're like one person."

"That's right! My husband, let alone taking me on a bicycle, he even complains about how tiring it is to ask him to go grocery shopping with me!"

Several women gathered by the well to wash clothes, craning their necks as they did so, their voices filled with undisguised sourness and envy.

Their voices were neither too loud nor too soft, just enough to reach Su Wantang's ears.

Su Wantang's cheeks felt a little hot, and she subconsciously pressed her face against Lu Linchuan's back, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but secretly turn up in a smile. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
