"Could you take a picture of us too?" someone suggested.
"Of course," Lu Linchuan readily agreed.
The beach became lively as people lined up to take photos. Some families of three took photos together, some couples took photos together, and several children posed for various poses while laughing.
"Wantang, your man is so good to you, buying you such an expensive camera to take pictures," the aunt who had just been chatting with Su Wantang remarked.
“That’s just the kind of person he is,” Su Wantang replied with a smile, her heart filled with sweetness.
From afar, Zheng Nana, who had been following behind, watched all this with growing displeasure.
She really didn't want to see Su Wantang's happy and content expression anymore, and she didn't want to see Lu Linchuan's doting affection for her.
"Oh my, look at that woman, she's really beautiful." Some people in the crowd were talking about Su Wantang.
"Yes, her husband is also very handsome and rich. They are a perfect match."
"That's what you call a truly loving couple."
These words, when they reached Zheng Nana's ears, felt like needles pricking her heart.
She followed him just to catch a glimpse of Lu Linchuan from afar, but now she realizes she's practically asking for trouble.
Zheng Nana's eyes stung as if they were being burned, and she hurriedly left, unwilling to stay for another second.
On the beach, after taking photos for everyone, Lu Linchuan put away his camera.
"Thank you, young man," everyone said.
"You're welcome, it was nothing."
The crowd gradually dispersed, and the beach returned to tranquility.
"You were so kind just now." Su Wantang took Lu Linchuan's arm. "Everyone was very happy."
"Seeing you happy makes me happy." Lu Linchuan looked down at her.
"When will our photos be developed?" Su Wantang asked expectantly.
"I'll go get it washed tomorrow, and I'll get it the day after tomorrow."
"I'll film whenever I want; I'll just keep this camera at home."
Su Wantang felt a warmth in her heart. She knew that the camera was expensive, but Lu Linchuan talked about it so casually, as if he had just bought an ordinary little gadget.
"It's getting late, let's go back." Lu Linchuan glanced at the sky.
"Hmm, I've had quite a haul today." Su Wantang picked up her small bucket, which was filled with her spoils from beachcombing.
The two walked back hand in hand along the coastline, their shadows stretched long in the warm golden sunlight.
Back home, Su Wantang cleaned her catch from the beachcombing, preparing to cook it into delicious seafood the next day.
"What a perfect day!" she said, stretching contentedly.
“Every day I spend with you is perfect.” Lu Linchuan hugged her from behind.
Su Wantang's heart raced at his words, and she turned around and lightly punched his chest: "You're getting more and more glib."
"I'm telling the truth." Lu Linchuan lowered his head and kissed her forehead. "I'll definitely pick the most beautiful photos from tomorrow, enlarge them, and frame them."
As night deepened, the two embraced and fell asleep.
Early that morning, Su Wantang received a package from Wei Juan.
The package contained Shanghai-made face cream, shampoo, and some peach shortbread.
At the very bottom of the package was a letter.
Su Wantang opened the envelope and saw Wei Juanjuan's neat handwriting.
[Sister Tang! I'm doing well in Shanghai! I've been studying every day lately to prepare for the college entrance exam. I was incredibly nervous on the day of the exam, afraid I wouldn't perform well and that I wouldn't pass. But when the results came out, I was amazed at how well I did!]
